The amount of hypocritical airheads in the main forum with this constant barrage of abusive threads towards Essendon - it's almost like we instigated the brawl on the weekend (god help us if we had of - imagine the amount of ridiculous threads then!) ... Hawthorn continue to get off scott free from the football public for a very poor and undisciplined display of so called 'toughness' while Bomber players are being labelled 'weak' and 'softco*ks' for not having more of an impact when we clearly have many important, season defining games ahead of us in the coming weeks and are positioned in the top 4.

All it is doing is showing that the football world are getting a little worried about another possible Essendon premiership assault in the next couple of years - trying to take credit away from an emerging side who did all the right things on the weekend by keeping their head over the ball and putting their bodies on the line when it really counted to run away to a thumping win.

The past weekend will no doubt make us stronger, not just the players ... but us supporters of the greatest, proudest and most successful football club in Australia.

Go Bombers!

Overall, the footballing world has been very critical of the way Hawthorn believe they earned respect because of their actions.

The only criticism of Essendon I've seen has been in here with a whole lot of unsubstantiated allegations that we are thugs and "had it coming to us".

Yeah it has peeved me off no end as well. If we fight back we are thugs and snipers and if we don't fight back we are weak and soft****s.

There have been some posters who have stood up for us and they have included Swans & Pies supporters who normally bag us so that was pleasing.

I am dissapointed with the actions of a couple of ours but in general all they were doing was trying to break up the scuffle and were set upon.

Going by the main board contract negotiations should be easy because no one wants our players. Jason, Mark, McPhee, Solly, no one wants them. Thugs they are, except their histories are pretty light.

Unfortunately, this whole incident seems to have brought out the worst in people.

I'm thoroughly sickened and disgusted by the fact that people are getting enjoyment out of attempts to seriously injure.

Good God man, it's just a game.

 No, it's life...! ;)

Their **** has become worse than laughable. I actually cannot bring myself to read any more of it.

Ahh well. Whatever does it for them. They're the ones who'll hurt more both this week and at season's end.

Guys, bear in mind that not all Hawks supporters are happy with what went on on Saturday. To your blokes credit you got on with the business of playing footy and won and deservedly so! As a Hawthorn supporter what annoyed me was we had got ourselves back into the game only to undo all that work by a total lack of concentration after the event. You gave us a lesson in professionalism which our guys really need to go to school on and hopefully will. We have been belted from pillar to post both on field and off this year and by the media etc and i think Saturday just brought alot of those issues to a head for a few of our players who are probably playing for their careers. I think most clubs if put in the same position would do things they may regret and which are borne out of total frustration. As for supporters of other clubs having their say, well i guess every supporter has a club they love to hate and it doesn't show alot of courage to come on a forum where noone knows you and talk with a bit of false bravado! One positive i will take out of Saturday is i think what was once a great rivalry betwwen two great clubs which has been flagging in recent years as we've struggled will now be renewed and this will put bums on seats which can only be good for both clubs in the current footy economic climate. Fortunately, neither of us are struggling financially, but hopefully future games between us will draw the types of crowds and provide the types of contests that we all want to see.

Our players should plead not guilty tonight for the mellee charges and get away with it IMO cause we mainly pulled players off and didnt realy throw the punches the way hawtorn did.
