Good luck to him, I hope he has more luck than Riewoldt did last year and remains injury free.
Personally I would have liked to see Kosi as captain but I fully support Bally

yeah bally will be good i think he may better to lead us verbally and inspirationally than kosi but kosi's ground dominance ability is second to none

Congratulation Bally...He'll do a SUPERB job.

However i also belive Kosi should of got the nod.

Nevertheless, The whole team will hopefully go up on that stage on the last day of semptember and hold the CUP aloft!!!!

Congrats to Luke Ball. Good choice, Kosi will probably next in line.

What about Dal Santo?? Nicks probably my favourite Saint and I would to see him as captain, but does he have the leadership??? I'm sure you saints fans would know.

New St Kilda skipper Luke Ball admits he would be a liar if he didn't at least dream about the possibility of holding up the premiership cup come the end of 2006.

After all he has just become the skipper of the team which is already a clear favourite with the bookmakers to win the 2006 premiership after the pain of losing in the preliminary final to the eventual premiers of the past two years - Port Adelaide in 2004 and Sydney in 2005.

But the 21-year-old, who becomes one of the youngest players ever to be named captain of an AFL club, knows just how much work lies ahead of the Saints before the ending of the club's 40-year premiership drought becomes a reality.

"That is obviously way down the track," Ball said on Monday after beating Justin Koschitzke to the coveted position for this season under the Saints' rotating captaincy policy.

"If you look at the last two years and our last two captains (Lenny Hayes and Nick Riewoldt) have taken us to prelim finals and fell one short and I would be a liar if I didn’t sit here and say we didn’t want to go one better this year."

Ball, who has already amassed 65 games in just three seasons and is coming off a year in which he shared the Saints' best-and-fairest and was named in the All-Australian side, says he plans to lead by example in 2006.

And he says a big part of being captain is about being selfless.

"I am one who likes to see my teammates do well," Ball said.

Ball is already regarded as one of the AFL's most courageous players and was forced to leave the field numerous times under the blood rule last year.

However he does not expect to become even more of a target for opposition players now that he is captain of St Kilda.

I'm rapt.

Good luck to ball throughout the year, doesnt seem like the plaer that would get bogged down with the club leader tag above his head.

Hop ehe shines with it! great player to watch and he deserves it.
Kozi's form while he was captain last year was fantastic aswell, either of those players could have taken it this year.

my favourite player in the league at the moment and will be as good captain as we will see over the next ten years.

Awesome player but I would be worried that he will fail like Nick did last year. I am more looking forward to how Nick plays without the captaincy as it CRIPPLED him last year. It was horrible to watch him in some games expecially close or losing ones.
