reading the tribute to Ern Henfry on the carlton website got me thinking there are two cases i can think of where a player was named captain in only there second season (Henfry and Kernahan), and won a premiership in the same year. those years being 1947 and 1987. this year we will be having another new captain, and if we make it a player in there second year at the club, the best option being murphy, and it being a year ending in 7, clearly history dictates that we would the premiership! so murphy being captain means a premiership in 2007.

p.s i hope people dont take this seriously, its mearly me being light heartedly hopeful

Well, seeings as we WILL be winning 14 games next year, it dosent sound that far fetched.

We won't be winning 14 games.

Stop building up hope that will just disappoint you at the end of the season. We simply are not ready to win that many games.

Maybe in a few years, but not next year. Get real.

Well said Jeremias...

We have to crawl before we can walk...

Finishing above Collingwood should be our goal this season....

Fairdinkum they have no Tarrant, their best player in Didak is injured.

and they are relying on an untried Rusling and an unfit Rocca (well isn't he always) to kick them a winning score this season.....

We can finish 15th this season....load up on talent again and make our bid for the premiership in 2009

Perhaps future Captain Murphy;)

I'll be happy with 6-8 wins and a noticeable improvement in the youngsters:thumbsu:

It is the season after that I will expect us to really start to improve and a few years after that I expect to be sitting with a few of you as we contest a GrandFinal....hopefully:D

players who been at the club the longest should have be the first choise and not a first year Player it should be first year players have to play so many seasons before being considered it be unfair if a first year player get the job before a player who been their a few years

He's already acknowledged he's not ready to become captain. Still has to establish himself after 13 games, let alone take on the responsibility of the entire team. You also need someone who has the respect of the senior players and I don't think they'd exactly be looking up to someone who's played a lot less senior footy than they have. He's said Stevens has helped guide him so he's hardly now going to be ready to be telling Stevens & co what to do.

Carlton should do what st kilda dose and rotate each year seems to work for them

Since when do we need to follow what St.Kilda have done?? I dont see them having much onfield success. One premiership is all they have managed.

we will not be doing the rotational captain. Lance will get it for a few years, then over to Murphy.

Long term captains only for our club.
