Haven't sighted him all day. I still can't work out for the life of me why he was appointed captain when you have Crawford and Everitt in the team.

Crawford voluntarily surrendered it I thought, and I'd be doubtful whether Spider was Captaincy material... Perhaps Mitchell as long term solution, like when the Kangaroos gave a young Carey the nod...

Difference is Carey was actually good. Vandenburg for theyear, then give it to Hodge for next year and beyond.

Bit harsh on Vandenberg. Whoever captains the Hawks is on a hiding to nothing. Same goes for the coach. If I was a Hawks supporter I'd rather Clarkson and Vandenberg be the patsies. Two years at the bottom, 4 good top draft selections, a boardroom struggle, a new coach, a new board, a new captain in Hodge, a ray of hope, and a move up the ladder.

I suspect people will be cursing Vandenberg and Clarkson over the next two seasons, but if things go like many suspect they will (Woodware), Hawks supporters will have a lot to thank these two for.

I still hold bu statement awhile ago that we should
of taken a risk and given it to Hodge.

I would of prefered Mitchell, but he is still a kid.

NO, but my hope in Hodge wasnt vindicated either, he got more of it but wasted it too.

I just don't want to get to the stage where we're 0-8 and we'll end up dropping the captain.

Vandenberg is a HACK. He wouldnt make the top 10 teams in the league. Who cares if he was tagged today by freaking superman and spidermans football playing love child? I know that when we play Hawthorn we can put our 4th midfielder on him and SPANK his @rse. Your captain is a joke. And dont worry we are ALL laughing

That's rich coming from someone that had BEN GRAHAM captain their club for a number of years.

As a punter, yes.

Richie would be a much better running back though.

But in terms of captaincy - Richie will be better than Ben 'walkoutonmyclub' Graham.
