Should they have to wear No.17 ?

Are you seriously a Richmond supporter? Saying that #17 should not be forced upon a player is a ridiculous statement. The club is establishing a great tradition in memory of Jack Dyer. I'm sure any player would be honoured to wear the famous #17 and if he wasn't he shouldn't be captain or even at the club. As for the next captain, Coughlan by a mile, has a heart the colour of yellow and black and the qualities of a leader i.e he's as tough as nails just like Captain Blood. The BRICKSTER said:Deledio suits his number 3 very well IMO just does.
Its up to who ever is captain it should not be forced upon a player

KEEP the 17 going! Great idea!Matt9 said:They won't get rid of something they started as a traditional thing only a few years ago. So the next captain will wear 17 and so will they all forever and ever. I think Chris Newman would make a great captain. I like the quiet, back pocket, first man picked, never play a bad game types.![]()
Don't know if Petts has the right mindset for a captains job, and the fact he shows his emotions when kicking or missing goals has been seen as a bad thing by many people.RichosGuns said:I like Chris Newman aswell, but maybe as a vice captain. He is 1 of if not the he most courages player at tigerland (along with Cogs, Hyde) now that kellaway has left. Although you don't get many captains that play backpocket (sometimes back flank) because they can't direct the traffic aswell
Cogs is the obvious choice, but i think Petts would also be a good choice. I saw an interview after maybe the Geelong win this year and he was really talking the club up and how its going places - very inspirational. He would also be a great leader as he seen the highs and the lows
I know Newman is a great person too, who could handle the role very easily. He gives his time to a lot of charity/ social work, organises other Richmond players in these types of roles and is generally a very solid citizen. Very well respected by the player group for this reason, in addition to the way he conducts himself on the ground. I don't know as much about some of the other youngsters but I think Delidio, Coughlan, Raines, Polo all come across as good types for the role in a few years time.RichosGuns said:I like Chris Newman aswell, but maybe as a vice captain. The only problem is, is that he is 28 years old as is Kane Johnson so by the time Johnson has retired Bowden might be looking at retiring as well, if he already hasn't.blackys_chick20 said:i think ur next captain should be joel bowden...
the respect the players have for him is incredible..
he shows great leadership skills around that club and should be rewarded for it
Thats a joke post right.PLSC said:how about you brisbane ***** pissoff
in all honesty i reckon greg tivendale should be captain, just a true leader amongst men and one of the inspirations around the club
never misses a game and his 6th in the b&f this year is testament to his consistancy
truly remarkable player who in years to come i will be lucky enough to say saw him live
you are a knob, this forum is for all and the only time opposition supportors are unwelcome is when they troll and these 2 guys arent trollingPLSC said:how about you brisbane ***** pissoff
