Now with Grant gone, will you still have the captaincy rotation or will it go back to normal. if so, who will be your future captain? Rewioldt,Ball, Hayes, etc.

I would seriuosly question the need for a rotating captaincy again, perhaps three vice captains, or something like that, would give exposure to the players. I think stability would be better.

1. Hayes is unlikely to be captain due to his injury, he should focus on round one.
2. Riewoldt has played better without the captaincy, should remain off his shoulders.
3. Kosi is injury prone but will hopefully string a season together and go from strength to strength. Would have to be considered an outsider despite his form with the number one job.
4. Ball must focus on kicking osteo pubis (if he indeed has it) and should not have the job next season. It is difficult to tell if his form dropped with the burden or he was injured.
5. Gehrig and Harvey are too close to the end to be given the nod.
6. Hamill was inspirational as captain but there could be too many injury clouds after a stop start season.
7. Goddard? Too young perhaps?
8. Maguire, plays the game hard and no nonsense, bad injury though will rule him out. Was he in the leadership group?

I would like to see either Kosi or Hamill get the nod, but it is a tough decision due to their injury record in the past few seasons.

I think it will likely be Reiwoldt but I do not think it suits his game. Ball as an outsider to retain the job.

Odds
Reiwoldt: 2:1
Kosi: 4:1
Hamil 5:1
Ball: 8:1
Hayes 10:1
Goddard 10:1

Hayes is our best on field leader....yet the twerps will just probably give it to Reiwoldt.

Strange post from somebody who seemed to get what they wanted last week.

The month big Kosi had as "stand in" captain was phenomenal (I can't remember exactly when it was, think it was 2005 sometime) I would suggest if Kosi can put in a good pre-season and show he has recovered from all the injuries he has, I would give the captaincy to him

Just an outsiders point of view.

I think it was 2005 towards the end of the season. He captained about four games while Riewoldt was out and got four best on grounds.

It would be GREAT if he could come back in like that. However it is rare to have both Kosi and Roo firing at the same time. If we get that next year, it will not matter who coaches.

I think it should be Lenny Hayes. Actually I think it is a no brainer. Good players overcome injuries, and I'm sure other people have had similar injuries while being captain and returned to their best.

Nice to see the Carlton people still haven't left despite Goddard signing on for two more years, and the Blues possibly losing their only good tall defender in Thornton.

Hamill - depending on preseason if no good then

Captain - Nick Riewoldt
V/C's - Luke Ball, Lenny Hayes

Yes, many people have done their ACL and returned to their best, but alot more people have done their ACL and either re-injured it or struggled, unable to reach their previous running pace or just don't feel confident.

Catagory 1 (came back to their best) = Robert Harvey
Catagory 2 (came back and re-injured = Matthew Primus
Catagory 3 (came back with no confidence and reduced ability) = Barry Brooks

It would be a massive risk to give Lenny the captaincy, and I believe that we will take the Sydney approach and rotate captains (Koschitzke, Goddard, S.Fisher, Hayes, Dal Santo, Maguire) throughout the year and then decide on a permanent captain from 2008-onwards.

Riewoldt is a crap captain, Ball needs to focus on playing footy without the worry of captaincy, Maguire may do a Browny and struggle all year, Dal Santo doesn't work hard enough and Kosi is also a huge risk. If Kos can play 18-20 hames in 2007, then he should take the permanent captaincy from then on. He seems to be the only player that has excelled with it (except for perhaps Hamill). Hayes had an alright, but not outstanding year, Riewoldt had the worst season of his career and likewise with Bally. When Kosi had it, he went up a level. He was just tearing games apart at will. If giving him the captaincy means we will see that consistently then just give the bloody thing to him!
