Quick question, i know he had an outstanding season last year, superb, but with stevens and judd coming back in, is he guranteed 22 games this season? Just curious, thought he had a great season last year.

Yes.
Most teams have room for more than two midfielders.
He showed last year he was our best mid.
He is still number 1 until the others get their fitness back........should fit him in somewhere.:thumbsu:

CARRAZZO is how it is spelt, and barring injury will definately play 22 games this year.

You don't need to know how it is spelt to have him in your dream team, which is no doubt the extent of the OP's interest.

I thought we'd decided we were playing 25 games this year.

Partially yes, but not the whole case. I watched him with interest last year, and he really did have a great season, and i would've been shocked if he didn't still play a major midfield role this season, but was just wondering what you guys thought with not only Judd and Stevens, but the likes of Scotland, Simpson, Murphy etc...

It will be interesting to see how we use Carrots this season.

He didn't play that much in the midfield against the Hawks, (played more on a flank) but still got a lot of the pill. You would expect him to spend less time in the midfield, just due to the arrival of Judd and Hadley, plus our desire to play Gibbs there(Stevo back as well?).

Young Gibbs was the best thing that came out of the hawks game. He had a great game on Mitchell, especially the third quarter (funny how so many many hawks thought Mitchell was on the bench with Buddy:D)
During the game Mitchell picked up a number of his kicks on Stevo, but generally Gibbsy stitched him up in their contests, although Hodge taught the young bloke a few lessons when he was on him.

For the first time in a long time our midfield has a fair few quality options:thumbsu::)

Personally I'd hold off on carrots until you see where we play him and how Stevo is:)

I could actually see Carrazzo turn into a Cameron Ling/Brett Kirk type. Play as a tagger, but get plenty of the ball himself. He'll play every game in 2008, barring injury.

Tend to agree - think he may be best suited in a run-with role as Gibbs and, hopefully, Walker develop into dangerous mids. :thumbsu:

I think that is what everyone else thinks thats what we think we will play this year...

It's 22 this year
it's 23-24 next year and 25 in 2k10

Well, Walkers had 6 years to improve his kicking, and he hasn't... maybe someone will perform a miracle, and he'll learn how to kick sooner rather than later.
Actually he has improved since his debut season.
Still not great and needs improving, but he is better than he was.:thumbsu:

Walker has improved his kicking a very large amount since his first season, and whilst not great, it's pretty decent now. Maybe you were too young to remember his first season or 2...

Bannister hasn't improved his footballing ability in 6 years...not even a miracle will fix that :thumbsu:

Bit harsh there on Banno.

And what does this have to do with Andrew Carrazzo?

Maybe you'll learn to stay on topic and not fish.

But it's been two years and you're not showing any signs of improvement...

I wouldn't mind if in time Carrazzo actually becomes a Ling type Tagger who can shut down and player and get the ball himself. If he can get 20 touches and shut down a player, it is much more valuable than 30 touches roaming free due to his low hurt factor.

Thoughts?

Sounds like you've shaped him well. I think his all out attacking style of play (regardless of his crap disposal) might see him struggle even as a semi-tagger.

The funniest thing was Mitchell stuffing around with the ball 50 from goal and being completely blindsided by Gibbs who slid into the contest to win the ball and a free kick. :thumbsu:

Muppets have wrongly criticised Murphy's kicking in front of goal when he has backed himself with three shots on the run and just missed. But he's still a better kick than Mitchell who wouldn't (or couldn't) have a snap from 50 against Carlton and missed a vital goal with a set shot from dead in front last week.

Murphy has snapped goals from 50 plus off one step in the same position as Mitchell where Gibbs got him.

Carrazzo has shown he can mind a player when he played as a back pocket, but I wouldn't compare him to a Ling or Kirk who are tough players and solid as teak. Carrazzo is more Licuria who won B & F at Collingwood and a heap of the ball, but couldn't kick over a jam tin and hit a target when he had to stop and prop after being corralled by opponents.

Sticking with the Italian theme, Domenic Cassisi might be a fairer comparison for Carrazzo.

I'd chop Carrazzo before Walker if I was forced to choose.

He's played like 2 good games for us in how many years?

Let's be honest, if you've been struggling to get a game for Carlton over the last few years, you really aren't that good. To be a fringe player at his age, especially as we've been screaming out for experience, isn't the most flattering of things for him.
