Not as much as you might think. He really went after the Melbourne job so that shows he desperately wants to coach and also wants to show Essendon that they shouldn't have gotten rid of him.

I think whoever wrote this article is after brownie points with their editor. I saw the footy show i would not take what Carey said as an attack but rather an observation/opinion.

Finally some sanity. Wayne is always asked to comment on North because of who he is. The same as Bickley etc on the Sunday Footy Show. It was said with no malice at all, and I think Wayne was correct. Another spot of sensationism by a journalist who tries to make a mountain out of a mole hill. The problem is we have too many journalists trying to bolster their status in the indstry and their own egos. If they don't create a headline they haven't got a job.

Ummm, i was looking for the thread but couldnt find, i hevnt backed him up all the time, im sure some of use can remember i stepped down and said he was wrong, also said who cares what carey says he has a right to his own opinion, alot of people dont want laidley next year, doesnt mean we are all following what carey says, we all have a right to an opinion my opinion now is i dont want laidley during the season i backed him but these finals appearences have just swayed my opinion.

I agree with all of you, you can't blame the 2 younger players about the loss, I thought it was a team game I maybe am wrong. I know the loss was disapointing but the possitives were the younger players stepped up, we finished 3rd to everybody's belief, have a nomonation or 2 for the norwich (sp) Rising star, the team work where we won 6 or so games on the trot just to name a few great positives about our great club with shinboner sprit. Hopefully boomer wins charlie tommorrow night. If Dean wants to start blaming the younger players for our loss he can piss off and I am glad he hasn't signed yet might be harsh but I agree with Duck. Lets go after Kevin Sheedy for our coach he will do wonders with members, sponsers, crowds and keeping north as north and keep us playing in melbourne and if we had sheed's as coach we will win a preimership in the next 3 to 5 years. One last thing Dean should remember that in his 5 years as coach we have only made the finals twice and got beaten by an average margin of 93 points what does that say about his coaching, just my opinion.

The guy makes a fool of himself on that show every week and yes i do watch it and then someone starts a thread on it.
Why?

It's going to be pretty easy for him to take shots at Laidley now after he has lost.
The fact is what Laidley said about Swallow and McIntosh wasn't that bad. In fact he is saying that they are a big part of our future and must realise that they need to perform in big games.
I don't think what he is saying is as bad as people are making out. I don't think he is blaming them for the loss. He also mentioned in the press conference that kicking points instead of goals was a major factor.
Listen to the whole press conference and see if he has really said anything out of place.

CAREY is absolutely correct in his observation as media personality and is entilited to his view.

I FOR ONE WILL BE WRITING TO THE CLUB TO VENT MY DISPLEASURE AT THESE TOTALLY INAPPROPRIATE COMMENTS and I couldn't give a stuff if it was said in the heat of the after game disappointment or not.

In my view this is nearly a sackable offence.

I would like to see Sheedy in as a Football Department manager. I think his best years as a coach a behind him.

This is a little over top don't you think. I watched the Footy Show and checked on here waiting for some one to start carrying on. Wayne was right and did it very diplomatically. Dean probably regrets what he said. Maybe he has an alterior motive. We don't know the inside of what happens at the club but as far as sacking him, take two panadols and repost in the morning

If this is the worst that Swallow and H cop in their entire footy careers then it will be nothing in years to come.

The problem I see it is that they have had such exceptional years for young guys that JYD doesnt want the air being blown up there behinds to go to their heads and think that they can just come out and go on to become superstars because everyone says they will.

They have to work harder to get to the level we all want them to achieve....and not just be 'wannabees'.

So I would rather JYD give them a short term rocket for long term gain as the 9 under 50 gamers yday are our future...not Simmo, not Boomer, not Shagga....that era is closing in fast.

Well I've taken something stronger than panadol and my anger has not simmered much, I'm on my last glass of an 01 Bin 407.

Point is that, it doesn't matter what laids actually said at the after game interview, he should know that singling out anyone that it will be seized upon by the media.

This is the publicity we do not need if we want kids at feel at home and to want to stay at the roos. We don't air our dirty washing in public, Laidley is a 40 yr old man with 5 yrs experience as a senor coach, if he doesn't know better by now, he probably never will.

We need kids to play for us, not in spite of us. This doesn't mean that we are not hard on them to get the best possible output it just means we keep our personal stuff out of the media.

I wouldn't blame Swallow and McIntosh telling laids to stick it, and guess what? NMFC suffers in the long run.

So McIntosh and Swallow have stellar seasons in 2008 and recall the public berating as the motivating factor to reassess their footy & suddenly Laids is a friggin' genius.

And whoever takes coaching advice from Frawley should hang up the clipboard, or better yet go and coach Carlton.

Exactly right. What Laidley does have to make sure is that there is plenty of positive stuff going Hamish and Swallows way as well as the one touch up. They need to know that they have had great seasons, but we expect more of them.

While I think Laidley's comments were more inappropriate than appropriate, I don't want the players to think that what they served up in the finals was acceptible.
