How did Carl go in his first season,he showed some good things over here in WA.I was hoping we picked him in last season draft, but we didn't.How did he go in the Tigers VFL team or was he injured all year.Do people think he will make it in the AFL or needs a few years on the list.

I think he had OP or stress fractures of the feet or some sort of injury, and played the year in the coburg ressies when he was fit enough to play.

He has a freakish leap which im sure you're aware of (he rucked against seaby and did well). I've heard he has great foot skills and an amazing non preferred kick.
Hopefully he makes it

I Dont mean to spoil your party but apparently hes been delisted because he just does his own thing and is undiscipline when it comes to off field behaviour

Started the year with OP and missed the preseason and was only slowly brought into the Coburg ressies midway through the year. Then when it flaired up again the club put him back in cotton wool. Only managed 8 games as a result.

Was used in the forward line, almost as a FF on debut. Later pushed up the ground a bit but used only lightly.

The club seems to see him as a genuine utility. Not earmaked for the forward line necessarily, they seem him as a project player who they will wait and see on. Lots of talk that his best spot might be the backline where his leap lets him play tall and run off. Could almost be a Leo Barry in time, able to play a key spot at 184cm and slaughter teams the other way.

But a long-term, no-pressure gamble. If it pays off then grand, if it doesn't well nothing really lost.

Bullshit.

Piss off out of here you filthy troll.

He got me very excited with his VFL form the first time I saw him. Him and Connors with picks 58 and 60 are examples of why they called it the "superdraft".

He was picked up in last years draft...
So they are going to delist him after 1 year....

Correct me if I'm wrong but all first time drafted players must be given at least a 2 year contract.

Wouldn't we still be able to delist and then rookie him? He'd have to get paid his agreed contract value though, not a rookie contract value (what-ever the difference may be).

Not saying we should do it. Delisting a guy for getting in a fight is harsh treatment - unless the other guy was a coach or a senior player that is:eek:.

Edit : I should point out that I have absolutely no knowledge of the incident. And the last remark is just trolling!!

yep, kind of like all rfc draftees

If you read what was said by Brian Royal in the RFC review of him

"Now what he’s got to realise is he has to become an elite sportsman as, at the moment, he’s convinced he’s playing back home."

I take it that would be the only reason he would be delisted as

"Carl played the last six to eight games at reserve level and did some really exciting things. Now what he’s got to realise is he has to become an elite sportsman"

It sounds like RFC want him, but Carl's wanting to be somewhere else. Let's hope they can convince him to stay as, even though it could take a few years, he could be a VERY special talent.

He was also one of the players at the lauch of the Redevelopment / Indigineous centre today. Might be reading too much into it, but if he had been cut you'd think he'd be in Perth looking for work.

Cheers Weaver. Good point. Sounds like hes still with the Tiges.

Everyone talks about his leap...

What about pace? Skills? Evasiveness? Stamina?

I know hes pretty light, but a preseason or two will fix that.

I'm getting worried we have too many players with one "special" athletic thing about them, and not enough actual skilled footballers.

Oakley-Nicholls pace, cam howat's stamina, polak's contested marking. All one trick ponies?
