Precedent on holding teams to contracts. Imagine if they allowed it then suddenly all their contracted teams wanted to.

Soccer teams change designs for home and away kits every year.

I don’t see why we should be locked into a design for any more than 1 season

Then we have this.

Get stuffed NIKE!

Can't believe this is even a story. Jumper's not great, but seriously, Hawthorn wore pink and brown and not a peep!!!

Their jumper was already putrid, and they managed to make it worse.

There are five jumpers that are worse than ours, but only ours gets a story.

That’s the contracts they sign though. It’s our own fault for signing one thats locked us in for this long and ultimately approving that grey strip.

It's unbelievable that they can't produce a different one. Is it possible Nike have already manufactured shitloads they need to move on? If so, how bout they get signed by Carlton legends and sold off at the club store, ebay, Amazon whatever?

I do wonder whether there is some truth to this at all. Bolton comes across as a talker and perhaps the players would respond better to a father figure like Fagan or someone a bit rougher around the edges, who knows. I've heard some rumourings and by watching our efforts they are beginning to align. Hoping this isn't true though.
And yet every player we have sought to re-sign this season, including our most valuable assets Cripps & Charlie, have happily signed on the dotted line. Charlie signing for 5 years. Where is the exodus of players which you would associate with such a scenario?

Mass respect for Lobbe. Was at the game on the weekend and had a real presence about him. Love the attitude in the article and for arguably our 3rd string ruckman we are lucky to have him and such great depth. Our only downside being both he and Kreuzer are 30 next year and not sure how many years we get out of these guys. Phillips needs to become very good and at 28 next year he extends our ruck stocks by 2 year before we need the next gen coming through. Promising Lobbe talks about working with De Koning which is exciting. At this stage we pin our hopes on him being that long term #1 ruckman (unless we trade one in)

Drawing a bit of a long bow there. Just sounded like he was putting on a voice for the mic. Hardly a broad commentary on his leadership and mental/physical strength. But carry on defending him against insults that, in this instance, mostly weren't even there.
Hmnn.....really:rolleyes:

Surely Suns don't get pick 3 for Lynch and another pick at the end of the first round as a Priority Pick.

Unless we get pick 2. ;)
Why not?

On one hand, it's rather well established that a) priority picks these days are provided at the end of the first round, ergo we would get 19, GC 20, and b) the free agency formula provides, if band 1 is the criteria, a selection after their first. The AFL would be pretty happy with that outcome, I'd have thought, as it allows GC to pick 2 of the best 5 kids in the country and 4 of the top 25 (unless they traded this year's second out).

On the other, AFL makey-upey guarantees the outcome they desire anyway. GC getting picks 2, 3 and 20, 22 would be that desired outcome. It gives them an official means of providing them a leg up.

While we'd love to get a pick at the beginning of the first round, I don't think it's going to happen. It incentivises tanking, it leads to lopsided overpowered teams in the future, and it pushes other sides - Brisbane and St Kilda, for example - who need their selections more back a few places when they really need that access to the premium talent. There's a huge gulf between a top 5 pick and a top 10 pick, and so on.

Imagine if the ladder was as is, and the AFL decided to award both us and the GC a beginning of first round PP:

Carlton (predraft PP)
GC (predraft PP)
Carlton
GC
GC (Lynch comp)
Brisbane
St Kilda

That's the third and fourth worst teams receiving picks 6 and 7 respectively for their troubles. It isn't going to happen, for any number of reasons, and the AFL like most corporate bodies will follow the path of least resistance.

Great too see Doc running again!!!! :rainbow::rainbow::rainbow:

Other teams are out there playing finals and planning to win premierships - our members are sitting at home being 'outraged' over the colour of our away jumper..............
