The James Frawley precedent of Melbourne not getting a PP, but getting *ahem* generous discretionary free agency is relevant. As is the Motlop compo, which was cleeeearly fudged by the AFL to facilitate an outcome they wanted.

However, Barrett suggests we could end up with picks 1 & 2. Simply not going to happen. Murph will be 31, looking at 2-3 year contract elsewhere. Frawley was 26 and had a 4-year (?) contract.

At best the AFL will bump our compo from band 4 (~pick 39) to band 3 (~pick 21). Which is still a handy upgrade if Marc and/or the club decide to part ways.

Yeah agree, there's no way we're ending up with picks 1 & 2. #21 is the more realistic outcome if we're lucky.

The herald sun can’t be serious if they are blaming Carlton for poor ratings. Someone needs to dump some shit at their doorstep. What rubbish. This will be the story for the rest of week now. Jump on robbo and Gerard.

I’m starting to believe that the HS is targeting our club. Garbage article once again..

Carlton should sue HS for libel. That's disgraceful, Judd has represented several times on Footy Classified that Carltons ratings have been strong relative to other Friday night games.

That's straight up libellous and shouldn't be tolerated by the club.

I believe I recall juddy saying on footy classifieds a couple of weeks ago that our Friday nights are the higher rating games this year... Hutchy responded with, that people wouldn't tune in next week as a result.

At the end of the day there's 3 types of footy fans, Carlton supports who will tune into to watch there team, Carlton haters who love to watch us get smashed (or the potential too) and neutrals who are fascinated with the rebuild process.

All are good for tv ratings.

They do, but he keeps walking in and writing articles

Carlton on Friday nights is a bit like when [politician from whatever party] is installed as PM/President and everyone threatens to move overseas as a result.

Suuuurre you will. You'll go nowhere and you'll watch footy. That's what we do.

I probably don't feel as strong about this as you do in terms of pursuing any action but the underlying premise is correct. Not only is this complete fabrication and not based on any tangible facts but it is libelous as mentioned.

Pretty ****ing disgraceful AFAIC!

I must admit, I've been sceptical forever about the media hating us. I've never bought into it.

However, this season has turned me. I can't believe the crap that gets printed/posted about the club and the fans (mostly around us not being happy with the club, it makes my blood boil. I've posted about this several times lol) and it seems to be getting worse.

And this is nothing but blatant speculation with no point to it but to point out how bad Carlton are and how noone wants to watch them, which has been proven wrong several times. I can see no reason for the article other than to damage Carltons image through a criticism of the AFL//scheduling.

The reason I believe there's grounds for a legal claim is that, to me, it's nothing but a takedown piece spewing libellous opinions. Sure, there are plenty of articles written questioning this and that which are obviously directed but masked enough to get away with it. This article though seems to be a straight shot and as such the club should make a stand for itself.

Nice one Levi :thumbsu:

A few weeks ago Levi Casboult responded to an Instagram comment and said he'd take these kids for a kick in their local park.

The kids forgot all about it but this week the @CarltonFC contacted them and delivered on his promise!#7AFL

In before the HS writes an article criticizing the club for sending Levi rather than someone who can actually kick...
Yep. My first thought was whether one of those kids could help Levi with his technique...

Poor fella is much maligned... he's been much, much better this year.

Everyone should read this article. Talking about the veterans still toughing it out, week after week. A great little vignette on Simmo

I look at Kade Simpson roaming the Blues' flanks this year and I feel like standing and saluting him.
He’s endured more hard days on the field than most. In the Springsteen song, Wrecking Ball, Bruce sings: “Hard times come and hard times go, hard times come and hard times go, yeah just to come again, bring on your wrecking ball.” That could be an anthem for the long-suffering Blue. He’s a rail-thin wrecking ball in long sleeves.

If I can't watch a Carlton game this year, I find myself checking their scores and asking people how Simpson went. I don’t know why I ask because it’s always the same: “Carlton lost, Simpson was one of their best.” What a soldier he’s been.

He's skinny. He's grumpy. He's seen some tough times. But holy moly has Bob Murphy summed Simmo up well; What a soldier he’s been.

Friday night games this year. Sides in bold lost by more than what we have. Our loses have been by 26 and 21 points

Dons 99 v Crows 87
North 95 v Saints 43
Blues 74 v Pies 100
Crows 58 v Pies 106
Swans 75 v Crows 85
Dogs 80 v Blues 59
Cats 93 v GWS 32
Hawks 71 Swans 79
Crows 63 v Dogs 26
Pies 90 v Dogs 55

Schwab & Ralph have no idea, pathetic

could it be that the afl puts carlton on friday nights more than other teams because they rate better, even when they suck? do you think that the tv station might have some sort of influence about the teams scheduled?

its just about trying to lay the slipper in with the blues are down... because pretty soon they will be back up and that is something to FEAR!
