Got to get this off my chest as was going to lose it on Twitter but thought better of it.

The thing that is frustrating me the most is journos and other clubs complaining about Carlton getting a priority pick because we have caused our own issues and due to bad drafting and development why is that every other clubs fault!?

Well what all these morons don't understand (Whateley, Russell, Scott brothers etc) is the AFL run a business based on making money, the AFL make nothing if Carlton can only get 16k people to a game of footy and are noncompetitive, then other clubs supporters also don't rock up to the footy assuming the game is going to be a fizzer and an easy win.

So to all these genius' who like to have their input on why Carlton shouldn't get a priority pick, its in the AFL's best interest if every club is at least competitive and vying for a top 8 spot so people actually want to go to the footy and broadcasters want to pay big bucks for 9 games a week.

Secondly, IF we are going to be given priority access to the mature age "talent" VFL, WAFL, SANFL etc prior to the draft then these players HAVE to be outside of the standard list, What happens if SOS has already mapped out his 44 players on the list? We should not be forced to take 2 players for the sake of the AFL experiment.

Lastly, all these oxygen thieves who want to have their say are missing the point as the following teams have received priority picks
West Coast x4
Hawks x3
Dees x3
Tigers x3
Saints x2
Dogs x2
Pies
Freo
Crows
Swans

Did you miss our 3 (or 4)?

:think::p:D

Sick of the media slaying us for having 13 first round picks playing on the weekend, they need to look a little deeper than just dishing up cheap journalism.
Murphy, Daisy, Lobbe (twilight of careers)
Lamb, Lang (hardly best 22)
H, CC, Dow, Lob, Marchy, SPS, Weits (under developed kids)
Cripps (Gun)

Just because you were a gun junior that doesn’t always translate to being a gun Afl player.
A la Jack Watts, O’rourke, Toumpas, Patton, McCartin the list goes on.

Then you’ll have players who develop later a la Sam Mitchell, Priddis, Swan, Rampe, Laird list goes on.

So once again just because Carlton have a number of first round picks journos assume we should be good, how about do some research!

Yes and the anti carlton propaganda machine forgets, we traded for 5 of those players and we also traded out 2 first rounders (Menzel to get lamb and Henderson to get Mackay) and while we are at it you can add kennedy and pick 1. Go back and overlay the above with draft penlties add 2 priorities in 17 years and the conclusion is Carlton has not been subsidised

I

Our high % of collision injuries is probably due to our high turnover, low efficiency game. Hit targets, lower the amount of cotested ball and collision injuries will fall. Force the players to do extra Pilates and swimming, soft tissue injuries will fall

Why are people knocking Healy?

We elected to go down the full rebuild path, we decided to trade out players that we thought wouldn’t get us to our next flag, we traded a contracted Gibbs, it was the right move but most of it was done by choice. he has a very good point. Which is why I’ll be very happy with a PP of any description.

Rubbish if it was not for free agency, we keep Gibbs and Betts. The full AFL bias was revealed when Carlton received nothing for Waite

Standard stuff

Looking for a role in sport. Time to move on from Blues
People don't understand what injuries have done
Club doing very well off field
Need players in 23-27 year old bracket
Active in trade period
Wouldn't be surprised if we ask for a PP
Lots of young talent coming through
Good chance of landing a big fish

Because Gibbs and Adelaide held the whip hand because he was gone after this year. SoS held Adelaide off in 2016 but as Gibbs contract period shortened, we had to trade. It was SOS' skill and Adelaide's 2017 high ladder finish that resulted in the achievement of a high price

No we held the whip hand, he was contracted and declined their first attempt for a variety of reasons, major one being a substandard offer.

Second time we still had the whip hand, as they were desperate, to obtain a player to help them win a flag, we maximised the situation, smart trading

He still had one more year after this one.

Wooshkaa? That's my reaction to most of Macca's press conferences.....

I love Andy McKay but he is definitely 'underwhelming' in the media. Sounds like my Chemstry 101 lecturer back at Uni ("anyone, anyone, Beuller, Beuller ??").

Hopefully Lloyd presents a bit more of an upbeat 'sexier' front for the club.

Also finished saying he's "stood aside from all List Management meetings for the last 6 weeks given he could possibly continue up at another club"
