Our club in the Media

Luke Sayers came across as a naive dill today. By predicting that the club will play finals next year, he is not only putting the next coach under pressure, but he is in essence saying we have the team list to do it. On what basis? Our list is overrated, expensive overpaid imports have missed 50% of the season with injuries, and the likelihood of that changing next year is not good. We have 5 months to develop a new game plan and implement a defensive structure assuming that the players are able to implement it.

What if we don't make finals? Do we then sack the new coach? Is he going to provide running commentary on the performance of the team during the season? He has made a rod for his back. If we start next year at 1-4, the media will relish piling on the pressure. For all the wraps on Sayers, he is just another suit trying to get his head on the tube and pretend he is relevant. He really understands nothing about footy.

Because we're under absolutely zero pressure right now, are we?

You know what, Moody? I've decided something: you're full of shit. You genuinely do not think less than half the things you post; depression is lethargic, not motivational. If you fully believed half the things you posted, you would not be posting them; you'd be sitting there, thinking about them and getting steadily more sad.

One wonders why you're posting at all, but if one thinks you're full of it one gets their answer; to see what reactions they can provoke.

David Teague sacked by Carlton: Blues axe coach after brutal football review findings
Carlton’s football review has claimed its most high-profile victim, with coach David Teague sacked after weeks of mounting pressure.
OK, not like we didn't see this coming. I feel for Teague as I don't think he has been given enough of an opportunity but there are probably other things at play that we don't see our know about outside of the club.

DT is a nice guy and was appointed as an unproven coach after BB, in a shroud of inuendo. Training wheels Judd had to roll back his comments to get the acceptance, but there was still some uncertainty. DT hasnt been able to meet expectations and so the cut throat world of coaching has gobbled him up.
Whether or not he had the support he needed is a moot point, he had his chance and unfortunately the numbers dont lie. Like BB before him, many are considering his sacking as a little unfair, but he had a crack, was given a chance and it didnt work out.
AFL coaching is a highly competitive, stressful field and they get paid accordingly, many fail , but to those that succeed there is the spoils.
Many fields are like this- music, acting , sport in general. get it right and you get a big cheque and lots of adulation, get it wrong and its not such a great career to pursue. But they all know that when they start out.

Well the salary cap should never have been bought in to start with you know. Was nothing more than a scheme devised by the AFL to destroy powerhouse Victorian clubs. You don't have them in the EPL yet the AFL thought the need to bring it in just to equalise the competition and have more control over each club, anyway thats a discussion for another night. There wont be any salary cap breaches though, theres no way the club could afford to pay the fine anyway....
Honestly can’t tell if troll or deluded school kids bored with home schooling.

I'm a bit late to the party, but I just finished watching the Sayers/Liddle presser from today, and I must say that 2 things are immediately and abundantly clear;
  1. Luke Sayers is an extremely impressive individual when it comes to clear and concise communication and transparency. He has a definitive and sure sense of what it is he is communicating, addresses the questions directly, and doesn't hide under repertoire. He looks like the right man for the job. The only negative thing I will say was the tiresome and deliberate use of the mantra 'Leave No Stone Unturned', but I feel that this will be a slogan that may even become the 2022 membership drive.
  2. Tom Browne is an absolute disgrace of a Journo, and a ****ing Muppet to boot. I used to think, up until this presser, that he was just a harmless, bumbling comical guy trying to carve out an AFL specialist Journalist career. Now I think he is very much anything from innocent. Every single question he asked with the exception of the 2nd last one about the interviews for the new coach, had absolutely nothing to do with football itself, but was ALL around contraversial comments made in the media over the last week, how people felt about the comments, whether the Carlton hierarchy felt bad about how they treated individuals, what they thought about individual comments, etc. etc. Basically any peripheral muckraking shit he could drag up. Nothing Constructive about future plans/processes or anything remotely Football. Just Gossip.

It'll interesting to hear how many get interviewed for the job. No point in rushing yet, though having the new coach installed in time for the trade period is the obvious cut off.

How can Teague go from 50% of the playing group support, to 40% yesterday to 30% today as stated in the Sun?
Interesting how that and the info from Tom Morris contradicts each other (re the late push from certain players to keep Teague).

Not that it matters. All players will get behind the new coach I’m sure but it just shows how the media and the leaks provided have differing agendas. Sounds like one or two disgruntled staff members/board members trying to throw grenades on the way out which is very unprofessional.

I could not give a stuff what anybody especially you think about me. If I wanted reactions I would put on my cheerleading skirt and say all of the things you and the rest of the mob say. I have been posting since 2012 and nothing has changed.

We now have another President, who has completely botched up this whole process. A review on the football Dept (mid-season) that was not targeted against the coach (his words) but in the end Lloyd kept his job, and the coach is fired.

Now go away and join the Bluebirds.

He says so performatively!

Bravo Moody! Encore, encore!

Hey, if you don't like my posts then ignore them and block me. I will be blocking you as there is nothing you have to say that interests me.
Now go away and practice your routine...
Why, my routine? It couldn't hold a candle to yours!

Go on, give Samuel Beckett a call, I'm sure he'd be eager to fit in your little existentialist gloomridden corpse.

I will pay you to not put on your cheerleading skirt

it's a strange situation where you sense a poster actually fears positivity - or believes continual, arrogant, endless criticism of an entity that will always be flawed somewhere or other, is positivity - that said poster actually believes that when the club is failing, to insult and denigrate it is somehow showing support

I agree with you Geth.
It’s ok for posters to give their views but it’s getting a bit tiresome listening to some who just continually pot the club at every chance without real substance behind their rationale other than they don’t agree with something the club has done.
Every football club in the AFL routinely makes a lot of mistakes and I actually think the successful ones are only differentiated by making less mistakes than their peers and sheer good luck.

revealing how your admittedly admirable attempts at gender equality in the past quickly dissolve into abject misogyny when you are challenged.........

Eh. Malthouse is not interested in introspection, he very much knows how the game's played. He's in it purely for the money now, and if it produces content for him - and it does - he's not going to care what it says about him. And it's not like he has any other means to earn a living now, anyway. He's been in footy his entire life; don't know if he's ever done a trade or got a degree, but it's pretty late in life to be launching a new career.

I begrudge Malthouse his time at Carlton, and will til the day I die, but he's earning a living off the media now, and unlike the majority of them he wouldn't be on very much. And he's old.

Being 68, you'd think retirement would be nicely setup with all the money he's earnt over the journey. Shouldn't need to work, but may be the type that just cant stop and needs to be doing something.
