'Interesting' if you want some good advice handed out to oppo coaching for free.
Bloody Joey.
Let's hope they ignore it. I love seeing Walshy play unfettered.
Cerra Fish and Walsh are going to be waxing around cripps Kennedy hewitt all game .. If Martin had the intensity and running capacity it would be him included.. maybe this is where honey comes in .. we might virtually be playing guys off every corner who are mids but follow a structure .. good sides naturally have this just need the ruck to control how wide the ring around the initial clearance is - for us we are better with a close starting point then flow out like a ripple in a pond ..
at least now we have players inside who are happy to step through traffic take physical pressure while looking for an option instead of humping it on there boot ..

David King: “Rounds 4-9 they gave up only 51 inside 50s, midfield & forwards on fire. Rounds 10+, 54. They’re under more stress, defending a bit deeper, my concern they’ve lost 2 goals on offence & saved 2 goals on defence. The balance sheet about the same but different looking.”

Love this analysis. Kingy’s got it all figured out, except if you take out the 76 i50s we conceded to Richmond ourI50 average would be less than 50 per game from round 10. One shocker changes the picture completely.

Some people read way too much into stats without understanding data.

I love Harry but he's come down with a real case of the flops recently. You're 200cm, don't play for the frees, just bloody clunk the footy.
The one part of his game that irritates me too, umps are aware of it and now don’t pay the frees he deserves.

If I could give him some advice it would be … cut that shite out it’s costing you goals!

I've thought about this lately as well, but I think you notice on field who the coaches are more worried about. Cripps' is still the one opposition teams are putting their taggers on and clearly finding matchups for, not Walsh.

Walsh is playing better at the moment but he's not having the time put into him that Crippa has. Swap the roles and have teams focus on limiting Walsh and allowing Cripps to run free and he'd be back in the no.1 player in the comp discussions, which is where he was for the first 6 weeks until teams decided it's time to sit on him (and our ruckman went down).

Not a driveby knock on Walsh at all btw, all about not moving on from Cripps so easily.
Also very hard to stop the slalom running my son does week in week out.

How can u undermine a triple premiership winning, Brownlow medialist captain. The boys must look at him in awe and want a slice of what he achieved.
I remember an interview with a player, I can't remember who right now, but he said that as soon as Voss walked into the room he had an aura that just demanded respect.

That's a fantastic starting point. What's good is it seems he's not just rested on that but still gone further to earn the respect of the team.

"In his last four games, Young has amassed 55 spoils (ranked No.1 in the AFL) and 35 intercept possessions (ranked No.5)."

"Then, going back to my teammates, we're all learning to be really good at receiving feedback. Being comfortable receiving feedback, it makes you more confident to give it in a way. I've just felt like my teammates around me have made me feel so empowered to be able to do that.

"In hindsight, I wish I'd learned that five years ago. But I'm glad I've learned that now. That's been a massive piece of advice from (senior coach) Michael Voss and (backline coach) Aaron Hamill, they've taught me that and that's what is coming out in my game I believe."

"Goddamn it!"

This is the second article in a week where the club psychologist has been mentioned (Dr. Tarah) -- kudos to her! High performance is as much a mindset as it is physicality...

I think other players (I think including Crippa?) have also mentioned talking with her over the last little while.

I had a chat to a well known sports psych about AFL. She was approached by Rutten last year for a position at the *. But when it went to the * board they said that they had no money for it. LOL probably the most psychotic team in the AFL, thinks its got its shite together

Sorry but with all due respect, Teague couldn't delegate because he didn't know how to. Even if he did:
Bruce
Stanton
Amos
Barker
to name a few, nuff said.

Thought Amos was okay - could have done well under a better leader imo. Hard being a defensive coach under a head coach who doesn't care about defense.

His area looked significantly better under Bolton - we just couldn't score under Bolts.

Also like that Cripps is being proactive. Bought 50 copies of The Resilience Project book to sistribute to team-mates in the preseason.

Man that book…its massively popular but I found it a bit basic. Perhaps explains it popularity amongst sportsmen.

Cripps is in theory more taggable.

He does his best work inside. You know where he's going to be and you put bodies on him. It's not easy to tag Cripps, but it's straightforward.

It's harder to tag a guy who is everywhere...

Walsh is simply incredible. Rare player indeed.

Can't stand seeing "Carlton can win the flag" stuff from Lyon and co, like they've deliberately jinxed us.

Not going to win any flag when we can't put teams like St Kilda down who were in horrible form. Don't care what their ins are, or if it's a "must-win game" from them... we have such a lethal forward line but couldn't capitalise in perfect conditions.
