Issues discussed and resolutions passed as a result of meetings held 9/10/06 and 10/10/06.
1. The virtual board has resolved to support the stance by the football department in relation to required players attempting to leave the club.
The resolution states that unless a suitable and fair trade is offered by AFL clubs attempting to recruit players the Carlton Football Club wishes to retain, the club is prepared to refrain from trade talks and risk those players leaving via the preseason draft.
The board has assessed the risk as acceptable in order to send a message to the playing list and opposition clubs that the club will not set the precedent of accepting offers that are not beneficial or at the very least fair and equitable to the Carlton Football Club.
This resolution was passed by a vote of 6-1.
2. The virtual board has resolved to expand the recruiting policy as it currently stands.
The policy now reads as follows:
The Carlton Football Club will assess all potential recruits on a case by case basis, with the key provisos that:
a) They are aged 24 or under; and
b) Are deemed as realistically capable of playing 100 games for the Carlton Football Club; Or
c) If they are over 24, they must be deemed as being a potential chance of playing 100 games or make a considerably beneficial contribution to the club; and
d) Are of a reputed fine character AND of a reputed AFL quality.
This resolution was passed unanimously.
