It will be interesting, I tip it to be a close match with us just winning, we have to play Geelong in the NAB cup I seem to recall always playing them in the preseason competition.

I'd imagine Hawthorn would go in favourites, but I can see us getting over the line. Hawthorns backline is still a worry, and if we can get first use out of the middle, and get the ball in quickly, then I could see a Navy Blue victory.

Two players that we need to look out for are Hodge and Frankin.

Personally, i'd play Waite on Franklin. Buddy doesn't take alot of marks, but he's damaging at ground level. With Waites athletisism, he should be able to keep him in reasonable check.

As for Hodge, i'd like to see Walks get the job. Did a reasonably good job on Hird last night, and another similar performance on Hodge will go along way to getting us over the line.

Verdict - Carlton by 8 points.

i must add, having been on york park/aurora stadium as its known, its wide...............very very wide. in fact its a very Big ground all together. we will need to run and carry the ball a lot further than on other grounds. i must say though, it has plenty of room in the forward 50's for fev to lead into.

p.s before anyone pipes in the siren works fine down here. its only for saints games we toned it down a bit

Carlton by 45 pts they won't do it twice build a lead then slack off
not against hawthorn anyway ;) :thumbsu: pray no rain ;)
thankfully were not playing up in Cairns :)

Carlton's vastly superior young talent, combined with their infinately superior experienced players, should make for a very easy win against the overrated hawthorn team.

We play very well down there, Fev will be the difference. Walker and Waite will match up well against Franklin. Hodge and Mitchell should carve up the midfield.

Hawks by under 2 goals.

We play very well down there,
You could play the best game you ever will, doesn't matter. Your teams talents just doesn't stack up when compared to that of the mighty navy blues.

You'll be OK this coming season, but don't expect the same sort of premiership success as what Carlton is headed for over the next decade. You might get one inside 6 years if you're very, very lucky, and after you learn to train and recruit backmen. If a talented list such as ours has a day out against your backline all sorts of record scores might be under threat.

Fair go, Hawthorn has just as much talent as Carlton in their young players. Give a fair go where it is deserved. This will be a fantastic struggle between 2 very young teams.

Is CattyBossDog parrot's brother?

Hawthorn have a very good young list, better than ours (or at least in front in terms of development IMO). We will win if we break even or win in the midfield - because they have no one to stop Fevola.

Then again, Fevola isn't invincible (as the Bulldogs showed last year when we expected him to thrash Harris). I'm hoping for a good contest, it will be good to see the kids again.
