Well, they couldn't lose to Carlton again could they?

With Bris and Adl away afterwards, the Carlton game now shapes as the (or another) season decider. Either 7/7 after 14 with a chance to play in a pretend final or 6/8 and revisit the list.

Of course, the club could try to take an interstate game seriously.

Don't ****ing bet on it, infact I half expect it. I was keeping a lid on our early success this season because I knew it was fools gold but I should have enjoyed it while I could. Season isn't over but it's teetering and at the end of the day are just making up the numbers in the middle rungs of the ladder.

although it wont be easy Im still heartened by the fact that as long as Richo .stff and now Otto are back and provided that Cogs/johno and cambo can be up and running we will always be an even money chance in every game we play
If we cant beatr Carlton then we should start thinking about drasft choices

scum

there will be a river of blood called Punt rd if we drop this one.

Mckay and fevola face the tribunal tonight...

if Holland gets a game...we've nearly got our best side in except for cambo and blummers ,,,oh ! and gaspar

Just our luck

We need luck to beat Carlton? Damn well hope not, even with their best side on the park they're a pretty average team as they've shown this season.

I don't think it will matter terribly much at the end of the year (see my sig), but if we can't beat one of the clear contenders for the wooden spoon, then Frawley might as well clear out of Punt Road right now.

And he can take Joel Bowden and a few others with him.

Let's not forget they rolled us last year when they were at rock bottom. They have a few talls up forward which may stretch us (Fevola, McKernan & Whitnall) plus Johnson is out which means 2 of our top 3 midfeilders are out plus we are now without our starting FB & CHB (unless Holland is rushed back).

Plenty of danger signs my Tiger friends.

ok

i'm probably a chance to kicked off for this next remark...but anyway : gaspar will be more easily covered than the other tall injuries. With Holland back to cover chb..and A.Kellaway covering the Gas, that leaves Vardy to take the third dangerous fwd...which i think he'll manage...most times.

Cogs, johnno and campbo in the centre will still win plenty of ball.

And NO team wants to find matches for richo, Otto, Hall and Staff.

The game's a challenge. Carna tigers.

Id maintain that we have a few better answers in Zantuck/Kellaway and Holland than the Blues are likely to produce for Otto/Richo and Staff

They will have their hands full the challenge will be to open the supply lines from the midfield which has been a problem in the last 3 games

Is Ratten back this week?

There isn't much in the way of their midfield that should cause us too many problems although no sugar and campbo will even it up.
Kouta has been alright but nowhere near his best, Camporeale will just start whinging if given a bit of close attention and Hulme will have a crack but is unlikely to hurt us. The rest are really only kids like Fisher and Waite.

Ratten won't be back for several weeks.

And a good point about their midfield - its arguably the weakest going around in the comp. There isn't one midfielder in their lineup I would rate particularly highly - barring Kouta who's been only OK this season - they're comprised of talented but immature underachivers (Camporeale, and the most immature player going around in the AFL, Justin Murphy) or hardworking but untalented sluggish types (Hulme, others like Freeborn and Plunkett are in the reserves last time I checked.

Wagstaff your signature is a disgrace and we dont need ridiculous fickle supporters such as yourself. Shjow some passion and optimism. It is people like you that let the club down and give us a bad name.

signatures

i'm sure posters with pessimistic signatures still want finals at tigerland...the sig is just another opinion.

I should change my sig to '9 key position players and 3 vacant places ?!??! WTF is that about ?!??

:D

Exactly.

And just think against the Swans we should have had Craig Bolton playing for us and not on Richo. Might have been the difference in that game. Now that Gaspar has gone down ....#@$@$##@@74^&%*&^*&%#ing.

My signature for about 6 weeks was 'Richmond - Victoria's Number 1 team', so it is actually a reflection of how I feel about the side. It's not there just to knock the team just for the sake of it.

Why should I be optismitic just for the sake of it? I really felt that the side was a more substantial and formidable opponent then even the side that made the Preliminary final in 2001, but that has all been thrown away by the last two losses. They were golden opportunities for Richmond to virtually seal their spot in their finals (turn 9-3 at the break) against two middle-of-the-road sides.... and they muffed it.

Of course I want them to do well, but they've got to convince me they've got what it takes. And this doesn't mean beating also-rans like Carlton, Geelong and the Bulldogs, but winning matches against finalists like Collingwood, Freo (away), Adelaide (away) and yes, even Brisbane, away.

To miss out on the finals after being 6-2 would be criminal, and unacceptable. That's why I'm dispirited at the moment.

Khan. Its the same old ****e, different season. Yes they will beat the blues, but they will not win against Brisbane, Adelaide and Freo, all away. When the heat goes up a notch in the next few weeks, as sides jostle for finals spots, they will collapse like a pack of cards. And will keep doing so, until the same born loser senior players are on the list. Do you want me to name them:-

Richo, Cambo, Kellaway brothers, Holland, Rodgers. All are long term players, core senior players, leaders, who have a track record of mediocrity and crumbling under pressure. Until our list is purged of this plague, we will never be a topline side. This process may take a couple of years.

The Gales, the Knights and the Daffy's were prime examples of crumblers. We need a fresh list of youngsters with the odd seasoned player recruited like Kane Johnston to lead by example.

I am all for refreshing the list, just wait for end of season and I'll be as Vitriolic as any of the negative posters how ever. Right now the team needs support. Lets give it to them.

I have barracked for this team for the last 34 years. Held a membership through the Horrible 1980's. In comparison to how we played then this team is pure brilliance. I can wait, I can see improvement.

I also dont want a medicore team but until we get past the massive contracts that were signed up in the before last year we can get rid of these guys. If at the start of next year some of the players you list are still there I would be surprised. With the way the salary cap is based you cant sack someone without that money being applied to the salary cap till the end of the contract. Richmond does not have that much room on the salary cap. This means there are players on this list who the coaching staff and football department know shouldn't be there.

Hopefully Greg Miller will have enough balls to take it back to the player managers and not let them push the tigers around. We need performance based contracts (like richo) not lump sum payments (like Gaspers). We also need a full list. The last two years (at least) we haven't had a full pool to draw from. Players should be on one year, performance based contracts that means you then have the ability to get rid of the 'duds' when you have to rather than wsait out a contract or use them as trade bait, can anyone say Nick Daffy. He was the prime example of what a long term contract can do against you. We wanted to get rid of him but couldn't sack him. So we tried to trade him, no takers for two years. Whe we did finally offload him we had to agree to pay his salary for another two years after he left. Which by the way is included in this years salary cap. These contract decissions are not entirly the caching departments fault. More the fault of the football managers at the club. They were scared to fight this out with the players and their managers. Let a few go, use the picks we have dont agree to dumb long term deals or pay for a player at another club.

The one thing I am is an optermist, its much more fun than getting upset over something I cant change. Yes I were upset over the loss to the swans, disappointed about last week but I cant change it. So until seasons end I'll back Danny, Richo and anyone else you name to the hilt and hope we can scrap in to the finals. Once we cant make it mathematically I may even enter the debates on whom we can get for whom, till then though I'll wera a yellow and black heart on my sleave, go to all the matches I can.

So get on baord/ behind the tigers and to quote Mal B watch out for the ride of a lifetime. There are no quick fixes in this game. Sacking Danny wont get us over the line. Crowd support might.

Lets Roar
