The club said it would take an exceptional deal to pry one of those four loose.
Both South Australian sides may be looking for new ruckman, with Crow Jon Griffen keen to move home to Perth and Port Adelaide's Dean Brogan drawing interest from Gold Coast.

Good to see the club wants to retain the services of all 4 big men, especially Jacobs. I want him at the club, however, if given the right pick, I would be more inclined to give up Hampson.

I see Jacobs as the better ruck option moving forward and possibly letting Kreuzer go forward with some stints as a pinch hitter.

Same article says T Bird has asked for a trade

Good pick up!!! - AW will also assess whether he should jump ship too, but this would be Carlton perhaps wanting to trade him.

I'm all for offloading T-Bird and a couple others, but I def want AW next year, has more to offer IMO.

Hoops was in brilliant form as our defensive forward prior to injury. He's a keeper...and I honestly believe if he was fit and firing, we would have won with him in the side for the Elim Final.

Standard pre trade week posturing. WCE not accepting any deal without pick one on the table, Freo adamant that pick 8 was required...it's all par for the course.

2 experienced players for one pick of which they already have plenty of? I wouldn't rule it out....even though the "two wrongs don't make a right" theorum could apply....stranger things have happened!

Jacobs is a gun. Have to keep him. I am however open to trading Hampson. We can't have these four guys on the list; it's wasteful and unfair on them.

Hampson and a fringe player/pick for Knights? I'd be up for that.

Agree, we are going to see a lot of these articles with clubs trying to drive up the price of players.

"Will take exceptional deal"

Reading between the lines is we don't want to give Hampson to GC17 for free.

I can't see how he could stay when he'd get more games/money back in QLD.

Hampson is contracted. We did so deliberately to avoid the Gold Coast scenario everyone is currently experiencing. We will have to be pleased with the deal, even if Hammer did want to go. Seeing as though his family moved down to Melbourne, I am not sure this is the case.

Yet this article is in The Age ............

Blues rethink Walker plan

ENIGMATIC Carlton utility Andrew Walker's impressive performance in a surprise forward cameo in the club's gritty but failed elimination final on Sunday has prompted a rethink on the future of the former No. 2 draft pick.

Walker, who is contracted for next season, was likely to be offered for trade this year after battling to impress as a running half-back and being twice dropped from the side late in the season.

But three goals playing as a defensive, hard-running forward who could mark strongly to present as a third tall option has opened eyes to a new potential for Walker and caused the club to revise plans for the talented athlete.

Blues rethink Walker plan

The article also mentions that Steven Icke said yesterday the club was committed to keeping all four talls on its list with plans that once he returned from his knee reconstruction Kreuzer would play forward more than in the ruck.

Where is spudchamber :D

Carlton forward Brad Fisher, who had the LARS knee reconstructive surgery this year and is out of contract, is expected to seek a new home.

That is at the bottom of the article & also mentions that Wiggins is expected to retire ..........

Well derrrr !!!!!!!!

Re: Blues tall timber off limits

I will pay out odds at 2.90-1 if we have still have all 4 rucks after the trade period.

Re: Blues tall timber off limits

Article reads like they will only trade one of Hampson or Jacobs should the offer be to our advantage.

Thornton and Walker are as good as gone!

Re: Blues tall timber off limits

I'll be over the moon if we keep them. They're all very handy players, I don't understand anyone who says we have too many big men...

Re: Blues tall timber off limits

i think it would be unnecessary to retain 5 ruckmen, 4 of which are good ones on a list with the holes we have if the appropriate trade was on offer. That would be poor list management.
