What the hell is going on!?

All I've heard out of the club Is Casey this and Casey that and now we're thinking of walking away from the deal. I hope this doesn't mean we're nomads for the pre season again.

Is anything ever going to change? We still have no home, no money, no sponsor, we're still kissing the MCC arse and trying to get back in with them.

Bring back Gutnick!

suppose we can't suck up sandy's arse for one more season

This doesn't mean that we can't align to Casey Scorpions, just that we're not 100% on the deal with the council, 2 different things entirely. Does anyone know what happens to us if we're not aligned to a VFL side next year? That's a major f_cking concern

I check out demonology occasionally because there's a guy on there who's from casey & goes to all the council meetings. Last time i checked it he said that they'd voted and approved it & that only MFC were holding it up. Maybe it's a good thing we're holding it up, no point going down there if they have to back out of the things they promised (stadium improvements, offices, etc) because they have to spend the money fixing up the methane f_ckup.

"Councillor Kevin Bradford had led the community charge against the expensive distraction, arguing that if the council had surplus funds to spend on elite AFL Clubs, it ought to allocate those funds to partly compensate the suffering residents of Brooklands Green estate who live under a Casey council provided methane gas mushroom cloud."

Political wedging and cheerleading is all this 'article' is.

Bailey said today in a media conference that they will be training at Casey in November so i think we'll be right to train there but whether we're aligned to the Scorps or not is the problem.

Sounds like the council are playing hardball. The two parties should be able to come up with a compromise.

I don't think so, we're the ones to blame for holding the deal up.

The sticking point is appartently us being unsure of committing to $600,000 p.a. worth of community based activities (school visits, auskick, etc) for the 30 year deal.

I thought Cameron Schwab's comment in the paper was a fair one,as the MFC has to make a very lengthy committment (30 years) which will also cover many future MFC boards as well.

I believe the MFC was looking for a bit more time to consider everything before making a 30 year committment which I believe is reasonable.

Also, good on Casey Council for trying to get the best result they can for their constituents! Like I said before I'm sure they can come up with something suitable for both parties.

I also believe the Casey intiative is a good one for the MFC.Should create an interesting demographical mix of supporters for MFC in the future.

What effect will this have on our "Snow Skiing" , "Range Rover" driving image do you think?

If I was you guys Id be taking time on this one...whatever angle you look at this it doesnt seem like the right fit..it may well be the moon for all the synergy cranbourne has with the Melb brand...surely there are other options worth pursuing...Needn't be the first joint that says YES

Demons' talks back on track for Cranbourne

MELBOURNE'S long-term move to Cranbourne is back on solid ground after the latest round of talks between the club and the City of Casey.

Demons chief executive Cameron Schwab met council officials on Friday amid claims the club was baulking at making a long-term commitment to the region.

But Schwab said yesterday progress had been made on a potential 30-year arrangement that has undergone months of negotiations.

The City of Casey will tick off on funding for new facilities at Casey Fields only if Melbourne commits to up to $600,000 worth of community involvement every year for the next 30 years.

The Demons begin pre-season training at Casey Fields on November 1, regardless of council talks.

"We had a very positive meeting on Friday. I think it's back on track and we're hopeful that we can move it forward," Schwab said.

"There's no resigning at all from our commitment to the program, but obviously it's a challenge in terms of putting together a 30-year agreement with the City of Casey.

"It requires a bit more work, but we feel progress has been made."

Casey is willing to contribute $2.24 million towards the new facility for the Demons' football department which will require a major extension of the pavilion at Casey Fields.

Without council funding it would be extremely unlikely the Demons could relocate to Casey on a permanent basis.
Schwab said the club was mindful the decision would affect future Melbourne administrations.

"It's about recognising that all the aspects of the 30-year agreement stand the test of time and that doesn't happen easily," he said.

"The main part of the plan was to establish ourselves as part of the community and having a good facility in a location to do that was always the preference.

"Working closely with the council gives you a much better chance of achieving the outcomes you're seeking from a community perspective. We're confident that we can resolve it."

Casey chief executive Mike Tyler did not return calls yesterday.
