...and on top of stats like this all he did was remonstrate with the umpires after every contest.

He let his side down bad.

Sicily was crying in the room after the game

Without any empathy or apology. . .
The Schadenfreude is strong here

Huge win today because this is where the fixture gets tough. It’s not always about who you play but when.
Monday games suck as all it does is lead into a bunch of short turnarounds.

Sure a great day, great rivalry and all but now we face Carlton off 6 vs 9.
Back to back 6 day breaks against Collingwood who have b2b 8 day breaks.
Giants no excuse just a tough game. Pity that’s a Sunday and on Mother’s Day as it leads into 6 day break going interstate to Port, than a 5 day break vs dogs.

That’s a rough patch indeed. You can say win if you’re good enough etc, but this is the AFL and it won’t be that simple.
If we get more wins than losses in the next 5 matches I’ll be very impressed.

Yeah it'll be tough to get up on a short break after that game but I do not rate the blues much of a chance regardless.

The one that will be really hard is Collingwood after consecutive 6 day breaks. That will bite
Pies off consecutive 8 day breaks for them

And they don't get looked after

The passage of play late in the game that led to Mannagh kicking the sealer. Watch Neale’s contribution there and you’ll get a good idea of why he doesn’t need to take 10 marks and kick 5 goals to have an impact.

A lot of frosty hawks fans on the way out of the ground. What do we do with Henry? Surely he has to come out of the team to get some confidence back. But I can’t see someone we can replace him with.

Jack Martin if he was fit and had games under him in the twos.

Ted a option

That un-named neutral board has a lot of talk about the CFL, and melting about how Dusty was was better than Dangerfield.

In defence of Mannagh : Q4 freeze
He got a handball from Jezza expecting a 1-2 run past
Jezza got tackled after disposal... was livid he didn't get a free kick

Also, like the forwards taking their chances at goal
There is very little time to evaluate and dispose
This make all the forwards dangerous around goals
Opponents can't plan to stop a star forward only

Was thinking that during the game

Wonder if it's a decision made by the off-field umpire (after an on-field report) and is enacted at the next stoppage

Imo, if the ump stops play for a concussion, and he says the word 'report' he should then send the reported player from the ground immediately.

It was a weird, and largely bad, game.

Lots of mistakes. Especially from Hawthorn. But I think their systemic deficiencies mean they have to use a high risk game plan which can come unstuck easily.

We made our share of errors too. Overall, our forwards were a bit off especially that third quarter. Our mids ok but my gosh our defensive work at clearances was putrid.

Hope they had a word with Smith at half time; just play the game don't engage with the crowd so much. Seemed more focused second half.

What a dirty hit on Miers. Cheap. 5 weeks.

Overall good experience for the young guys. But compared to the classic Easter Monday games, I didn't see the same run and dare of yesteryear. Partly inexperience, partly smart game plan I suppose.

I don't know about Hawthorn. They can look pretty good when it works but I think they are fundamentally suss.

I’ve got to say Ted was awful today. His two kicks forward that went OOB at a vital moment in the game, just not good enough.

I missed bits of the last Q.
Prob the biggest game he's played.
Gets a pass .

He would add more pressure than H jnr

You can't blame the Hawks supporters for being critical of the umpires when their winging captain and most of their whining players question every decision that goes against them.No surprise Hawthorn have been on the positive side of the free kick count every game so far this season. We need an enquiry no **** it a royal commission into .:)

Lawson Humphries is a ridiculously good decision maker which you truly appreciate when watching him live at the ground. Not lightning quick, not particularly tall, but his agility and ability to read the play puts him in most contests. Glad he's enjoying his time with the Cats because he looks like a ten year player at the moment.

SDK to never play ruck again...
Blitz to be the ruck if we ever had to rest Stanley, and Neale to be the man to do the relief ruck

Sorry to disappoint, but SDK will play in the ruck again - both the coach & Sam himself have said as much

It's simply a question of when he's next in the ruck, not if we'll see him in there again

In the contest just before the incident Impey came in with the stops out and, after ball went out, gave Smith an unnecessary bump to go on with. He just responded to a degree of provocation I’d say. Not Ballantyne level from Jarman but still p*ss poor…
Doesn't sound great. I missed the first half due to long haul holidays driving so about to rewatch
