Breakdown seems to be:

Scott:
5 Mannagh
4 Smith
3 Danger
2 Gunston
1 Blitz

Mitchell:
5 Mannagh
4 Newcombe
3 Amon
2 Smith
1 Meek

Mitchell the unfair dickhead, majority of his players, yet no Gunston.

Lol apart from a couple of his pressure acts and the final goal thought he had a shocker

7 tackles, 9 score involvements, 3 goals, 3 intercept possessions, 5 tackles inside 50, 17 possessions, 4 clearances

Seems slightly better than a shocker for a small forward in a high pressure match.

This.

I never really understand how someone making a point after they finish playing - especially decades down the track when the game has changed a lot and they have had time to reflect on their own mistakes or the way they played, they’ve had time to watch the game as a mentor and father figure and commentator, why their history would be used against them when they make a comment that is fairly correct.

If Freddie Mercury said nearing his death bed that, retrospectively, it’s a bad idea to have ludicrous amounts of unprotected sex during the AIDS epidemic you’d probably shrug and go ‘yeah he’s probably got a point’ wouldn’t you?
Yeah, exactly. And people do forget in the fullness of time just how much the culture has changed around violence in sport.

Lethal didn't get reported all that much, and what he did was seen as, up until the Bruns incident, brutal, but not morally wrong.

Nobody knows who voted which. You can mathematically infer each 5-4-3-2-1 breakdown, but not who it belonged to.

Overall he had a good game, no doubt. But a couple of his errors (where he got selfish/complacent and took way too long to try to move the ball on) could have ended up being very costly.

The kid never gives up. His marking is exceptional, the way he times his leap, then his arms extend to meet the ball at full reach and then his hands cleanly grab the ball. You can't teach that.

Knevitt was disappointing and I am a fan. There was mention above that he is still suffering foot problems. But he was like this in the VFL last year, had a couple of poor games early but by the end of the season he was clearly our best player. I think it is just confidence with him, once he believes that he can compete with those seasoned, big name players he will get better.

I have to admit that Knevitt was annoying me, and he was tellingly benched with Ted for the last five minutes.
But sometimes you just can't get into the game, not from lack of trying, but better options. He'll be better with a bit more experience- and luck.

One of those was due to a blatant free kick from Hawthorn that didn’t get picked up. Cameron hit him and he waited for Cameron to run on for the receive, and Cameron was tackled without the ball from behind so yeah, can probably forgive him suddenly not knowing exactly what to do there

Been loving his work mate! How do I get myself onto the AA selection panel?

It's difficult to reconcile the reports on BigFooty before his first game (completely cooked, bone on bone, emergency option only etc) with seeing him running around and moving better than he has for years. Classic Stanley, really - keeps you guessing.
Agree mate, while his in this form, keep continue playing him. And hopefully Conway be back in 4 weeks to give Rhys a rest

It certainly wasn't easy for him out there in this game. The Hawks pressured every single possession in tight and he often found himself wrapped up almost as soon as he took possession. So while he didn't get it much or set us alight when he did, he was at least strong enough to halve plenty of contests and keep the grind going.

Given that context, I wouldn't be averse to seeing him hold his place in the seniors for now.

The only thing danger has done to henry is give him an easier opponent.

Danger doesnt make henry pull out of contests or got pushed aside easily in one on ones.

People forget that outside the prelim and the spanking we gave west coast in the last round ollie henry was just as terrible last year as well.
Eh....he was okay in the first half of last year IMHO. I don't remember the exact number but it was something like 25 goals in the first half of the year, and then 10-12 in the second half (including the 4s in both WCE and Prelim games).

I know goals don't tell the full story, but for the "low touches but potentially big impact" type that he seems to be, it's a good indication of how he's travelling.

I remember reading speculation that he got injured midway through the year and has been trying to carry something since. He got subbed off a couple of times IIRC and missed several games as well. Would at least be AN explanation after a very good 2023 and solid enough beginning to 2024.

What’s the stupid hands on the ears thing they do supposed to mean?
“Memphis Grizzlies guard Ja Morant has been fined for miming using a gun on court, so he has switched to mimicking throwing a grenade.”

“Morant mimed pulling out the grenade's pin, threw the grenade into the crowd and covered his ears during the mock explosion.”

🙄

The bay of Hawks near us sooked the entire match.

At the end of it I had to scream at them "suck on that you ****ing bitches" and give them all the double finger

They are the most entitled and least knowledgeable (apart from SCG Sydney on the latter) supporters in the league.

Thank you - got it. I knew, without comprehending the source, that it was jolly stupid! And not even an original stupid.

Such a massive win. Obviously weren't perfect but the 4 points is invaluable.
We've got four big games on the trot to set our year up!

Notes from the game:

Our runners are just crucial and get better as the game goes on - mannagh, close, miers, dempsey, blicavs are so crucial to everything we do in the transition space.

Forwards - good to see danger kick multiples again. Could have easily had 4 or 5. Was very interesting that they resisted the tempation of putting him on-ball in the second half. I think this is excellent management given we will have back to back 6 day breaks now. I wonder whether they have him earmarked for a rest at some point. Neale didn't put a whole game together but had big moments and I feel he is building. Henry was quiet again, but notably his pressure and intensity seemed at a higher level - feel like some scoreboard reward for him won't be far away.

Mids - have to love the form of atkins, holmes and smith. Got beaten in the clearances more than I would have liked but overall they are all tough over the footy and look to be our starting 3. Knevitt was quiet but still best 22 for mine, wouldn't mind seeing him rotate through a wing and maybe get a little more footy on the outside to build confidence. Compliments for Stanley, would persist with him until he needs a rest (hopefully conway, henry, kolo all available by that time).

Defenders - Lawsons best game of the year. SDK looking very at home. COS was exposed at times and will absolutely learn from this - Still showed plenty around the ground, used the ball well and just looks a player. COS will grow into the year and would love henry/kolo back to free him up again.

Selection - wonder whether this is the week we see duncan named as sub. Miers out and clohesy struggled a little on the weekend. Carlton aren't blessed for leg speed and the g definitely suits mitch. Hopefully Kolo is fit and can come in too.

Because Impey was wimpey.

To be absolutely fair, any supporters would do the same after a deliberate ball in the moosh. It was retaliatory, and I'm sick of seeing our players given the rough to go on with, as they take it over the line. So is Baz obviously.
