You seem to be a very knowledgeable man Mr. Doggie!
While your on facts from the game, could you tell me the free kick tally from the match winning third quarter ?? And maybe how many of those free kicks resulted in goals ?? Went to view the game on the weekend and not using excuses in Hepburns defence as Daylesford did play a very physical game and put pressure on Hepburn at most opportunities, Cronin dominated the forward line and Hepburn also squandered alot of goals in the final quarter, but would be interested in this fact if you have it as imo it turned the game.
The best sides overcome poor umpiring, central highlands umpires we all know can be very poor an inconsistant and until the CHFL comes under the BFL-LPFL banner they will be so until then you can expect poor umpiring.

Works both ways...there was a ridiculous amount of frees given all day including the most 50's I've ever seen in one match. D'ford gave away 5 in the 2nd quarter which all resulted in goals to Hepburn.

The breakneck end of the ground was the scoring end anyway 25 goals out the 31 for the game, D'fords end in that dominant 3rd quarter

I do not know what the free kick tally was and i will not claim to know either. There were some mind boggling free's called for dford and also for hepburn. In my opinion, the umpires wanted to control the game too much out of fear it could get nasty, therefor so many frees.

Axel makes a good point. Breakneck end was scoring end all day. Both sides kicking 7 goals each at that end in the 2nd half.

Agree Merrigan.

Am not sure though - does Lexton Plains get preference for umpires before Central Highlands? I think one Central Highlands game a week misses out on umpires. Lexton Plains seem to get all there's filled?

The umpires in the CHFL are still in the same pool and from the same entity as the other leagues. They get put up/down depending on form and complaints. Every game this year has seen umpires try and take control by giving free kicks and imposing themselves. This will have negative impacts on the game but at the end of the day if a team is diciplined and plays the ball, does not back chat and shows them a little respect whether or not it is deserved will be favoured. And at the end of the day it is still better than supplying our own and having the crowd go mental when oposition umpires award or dont give free kicks. We are all in the same boat so like everything else deal with it......

what was the go with dunnstown? play badly or are beauforts new recruits standing up??

Pride in the jumper and not in the pay packet is what won the game.

Here is a fact from the game:

Dford: 3 out of town recruits. 19 locals
Hburn: 15 out of town recruits. 7 locals

The game was tight all first half, but it shows the passion for the jumper you wear outweighs any dollar value, and thats what got Dford over the line.

Go dogs !!! :thumbsu:
Actually it was 13 out of town recruits and 9 locals, thats an old argument thats getting very boring and always aimed at Hepburn. i wonder what the ratio of recruits/ locals of the players who played with Learmonth, waubra, Bungaree, Bunninyong and Dunnstown were on the week end. Those clubs are never mentioned and rightly so. it's totally irrelevant.
We'll cop the criticism that comes our way, because we expect it ...
Daylesford were definetly hungry for the win and fully deserved it, people have mentioned the umpires and their decisions and i'm not making that as an excuse. But,
as an observer i cant work out why we had a player with his head over the ball and got crunched head on by Scott Winduss, the umpire was right there , paid a free , but no report or send off. i wonder what the outcome would have been if it was Shep giving out the bump. Winduss is a very fair player but he did get suspended for the same thing in last years Grand Final

the fact is if you CHFL teams had to play with just your locals you would have a very average looking league. most likely wouldn't be able to field teams too.

Nick Abbot and Dave McLaughlin are the other 2 lads that came to the club with Sam, both look to be good players, Nick especially.

Ben Leske and Jake Avery are 2 other impressive recruits that will fill in some of Bungarees key position holes.

Tim Glasson and Scott Quinney are out from Redan and look as if they will be more then handy, although I hear Scott injured a knee on the weekend.

They have lost a fair chuck of their 2007 side, so it will be interesting to see how these new guys fit in down at the club.
I hear a whisper Andrew 'Shooter' Schiltz is making a comeback for Bungaree this week? Very fit and goes alright they say? As well Scott Cummings is returning ?

I heard the same thing.... Would be good to see if he does play... and see how his skills compare to the other reserves players... Don't know about the Very Fit comment, has looked to struggle when he's been doing the Running for Bungaree.

Oh ok then, explain this. Cronin takes a mark in the goal square, going to ground after it... Byers falls down on top trying to spoil. Umpire blows whistle and pays the mark. Byers then throws elbow into Cronins face, umpire sees it and all he does is pay 50m..... Outcome of this incident is Cronin has fractured eye socket and is out 6 weeks. How can an umpire see it, give 50 and not report it. Guess Cronin has the last laugh kicking his 6th and then another 4 with one eye.

bloody nora! that fixed me up didn't it.... i didn't know that occured, but now it explains why Luke Adams fixed up Byers with a nice smack to the chops during the third quarter... i was a pay back on byers

Big loss if that is true, and does anyone know why Matthew Van Der Veer has lodged a clearance to leave Dunnstown and head back to east point. i thought he wasn't a bad player

Looking forward to spending a few hours out at Gordon this week in hail, sleet and rain with the temperature not hovering over 8 deg. If anyone from Gordon is on this site, could you organise me a blanket, beannie, mittens and someone to hold an umbrella .

Cheers

Beachy, the blanket, mittens and someone to hold an umbrella have been organised.
But a beannie to fit that head is a bit much! Someone suggested a windsock or a sail off the Endeavour. Any other suggestions would be greatfully appreciated. :D

Will you wear the visor on the inside or outside of the beanie? :D

Ild like to use that umbrella on you animal, especially with the back chat I receice from you on game day.

Just a swipe at the CHFL delegates and the Secretary, when will you get up with the times and start supporting your members which is your football clubs. You people are old and passed it, and should move on, especially since you are not offereing a service and holding this great league back and not being proactive and ensuring it moves forward.
Ild be pi ssed if I was gordon, I know of other clubs that have their netballers play away from the footy (Creswick/Buninyong at stages and im sure their are other clubs) and you use a petty excuse in the end stating that the ground isnt playable. How can it change so drastically in a week. A cop out in my opinion.
How about the league work in with the umpires ensuring that all senior games have umpires, its ridiculous that the 2nd best competion in the district gets 4th selection of umpires and why? because we dont want to promote Sunday football which has proved to be a major winner, though clubs are requesting it. We as a league dont want to put any finances as the other leagues do in developing umpires and we are pretty much more financial than the other leagues. What a fast the league medal will be this year with home umpires giving votes? It will lose its credibility! Also it will only take an incident off the ball before something gets out of hand. Receipe for disaster. Delegates stand up and do something rather than sitting back waiting for a pat on the back for the big finals crowds and Grand final which you deserve no credit over anyway.
Also allowing un registered players to play for clubs, and sending out an email explaining that they must be registered before they play. The VCFL has rules for this and its called a forfeit. How about acting on that, and if clubs lose their points and receive a fine, im sure they will learn pretty quckly, but NO, it may cause some conflict.
And 4 on the bench is too many in Senior footy especially with clubs struggling to fill 2nds sides (3 is more tha adequate). Quaters have been dropped from 25 to 20 so lets act. Hand on for a secong, thats too logical and proactive.

Totally agree, it seems the husband and wife team try to run the league and keep everyone else in the dark. As for Gordon theres no way that would have happened to any of the top clubs. And Bungaree asking for $850 from a fellow club and a struggling one at that is bullshit.e

i know that Hepburn will try and steer clear of Sunday football if possible, but if every club has to played a sunday game or two to help out the umpire shortage then their shouldn't be a problem.
You are smack on with everything you have just mentioned learmonth especially about 3 on the interchange bench. Sometimes it is impossible to give all four a decent run and its even harder in the reserves, with no time on. At the moment Hepburn is flush with player numbers, but we all know everything happens in cycles and we will struggle to find numbers some time in the future and a smaller bench will be a godsend.
