OK, tallied it up this morning.

Reporting each fortnight was one page where you select employer from a drop down menu, put in amount and hours, click submit and the next page asks for confirmation.

It is now sixteen (count 'em - 16!) separate pages that you have to go through.

In addition, I got a txt from Salvos this morning saying I had missed a requirement and I'd be suspended in two days. 40 minutes on hold, finally spoke to a guy who said I had to fill in a form and drop it off or email it every month on the 16th. First I'd heard of it. In addition he also said I had to attend a meeting on the 28th. Again, first I heard of it. Asked him when I was supposed to have found all this out, allegedly it was when the booking was made. Further questioning got a "Unhhh?" response worthy of Nick the Greek.

Any further comment will be swear-filtered out of legibility so I won't bother.

But it's sorted now?

Allegedly. I have until CoB tomorrow to submit it, else the Thumb of Oppression will squish me like the deplorable bug that they consider me and every unemployed person to be.
Sort of thing that popped up less frequently in the days before abbott took a warhammer to it and sacked as many people as they could get away with.

****en mutt

Was all excited about applying for a process operator's job today, right up my alley and something I've done before. National stock feeds company, job ad and website covered in happy smiling farm animals and people frolicking in lush fields of prime Australian grain. Discovered job is in a semi-automated offal and fish rendering plant, a subsidiary of the main company, that makes the protein supplements that get added to dry dog food manufacturing.

"But it's a jerb"

Good luck

Well this is going to be ****ing interesting. As requested, I sent the form this afternoon to the address listed on the form.

Just discovered it needs to be sent to a completely different address. I will not be happy if I get suspended because of missing CoB today.

Interesting couple of weeks coming up

Started a new business and therefore enrolled in the NEIS program apparently can just transfer from Jobseeker

NEIS small business course (2 days a week online for 4 weeks) starts 9th feb

In the meantime got a 1 month catering contract (started 26 dec) which required an ABN

Registered as a Sole Trader under Centrelink and a new set of mutual obligations (Paperwork) popped up with a different date to my normal Jobseeker reporting date

Am getting paid in one lump sum at the end of the contract so have no income to report until then

Obviously not going to meet the mutual obligations of applying for 4 jobs in January

Curious to see how this is handled

1. Tick "yes" to the box saying you have met your jobs mutual obligations. You'll never hear the end of it otherwise.

2. Registered for sole trader? Ooh. Hmm. I was advised to just put myself and my ABN on my list of employers, and as money came in declare the amount as gross income and 1 hour from myself. Mind you I'm only getting the odd hundred here and there, nothing like a contract.

3. NEIS is good. Who is running it and who is your JSP? I managed to get some PPE ($250) and business insurance paid ($660) by my JSP after the NEIS co-ordinator called them. My course was held in one of Sarina Russo's offices.

4. NEIS releases you from all reporting and mutual obligations immediately the course starts. They'll give you paperwork to take in to Centrelink to make sure you get the jobseeker equivalent plus any allowances (pills/power/rent) you are entitled to, as a NEIS payment.

5. *** IF YOU HAVE A LOW INCOME HEALTH CARE CARD make sure it is not cancelled when you go off jobseeker. There are two separate ones - JS and low income - but they tend to treat them as a single on/off thing.

JSP is currently Employment Plus

NEIS provider is APM and have been enrolled, no mention of it on the Jobactive Page, would have thought it would pop up

Business has cost me 4k or so to get up and running any assistance would be sweet

Contract will be worth 6k or so and will be a profit / loss statement showing profit of 3.4 or so after expenses

Business I have told Centrelink about for the contract is different to the one I am doing the NEIS program with (Same ABN different business names)

Haven't earned money from any other source during the period

Mutual Obligations due 1st Feb, a few days before the course starts which will be the only issue I'm guessing

I don't profess to know how all this works but I know that Centrelink or whoever, set my brother in law and his partner up in a small business. They did some basic training and away they went. They even picked the business for them, a pet fish shop in a small Victorian town with a population of around 350 with a town 26km away that has a population of 5,500.

They lasted less than 6 months. They gave away the stock and fish and walked away, he's now got a pretty good job on a farm. The shop is still sitting there empty with all the fixtures in it.

Was it a pre existing business ?,,,then it needs investigating

maybe a maths course might have helped all involved ?

Jesus. That's a retirement hobby business for someone with enough passive income to get by. There's absolutely no money in fish. None. Unless you are right at the top end catering to a very exclusive clientele, or breeding illegally imported rare fish for the black market.

But they breed like rabbits! Better than rabbits!

True, but of every 100 fish you successfully raise (out of 200-500 hatched), maybe 20 are just saleable and 2-3 will be choice specimens at a reasonable price. You've just spent 3-6 months housing, heating and feeding 100 fish for SFA. And you're competing with people accidentally breeding at home who want to give their fish away for next to nothing.

The money is selling overpriced tanks and equipment and food. Not fish. And you ain't going to do that in a town of 350 people.

No it wasn't pre-existing, dumbest place in Victoria to put that sort of business.

Didn't cost the bil and partner anything in the end.

Small town near where i grew up, but not the same thing at all.

But yeah a small town ... "darl...can ya go into town , buy some bread, milk, a siamese fighting fish and 6 guppies, " aint going to happen.
Typically fish tanks would occupy a small corner of a "pet store "

I grew up in a town of 2000. It had a pub, 4 shops ( 1 hardware ). A farm supply place and a motor repair garage.
Farming was the big thing for the town.
There were other businesses , like i knew a sign writer, but most of the business for him and most of the employment was in larger towns 20km or so away.
A pet fish shop even in that context would have been insane. Towns of 10 000+ had pet shops with fish. No dedicated fish suppliers.

The business was 65km south of Boolarra, on the coast.

I honestly feel sorry for those who have come onto jobseeker in the last year, and have not had to exist on the basic rate. I doubt many have anything put aside to survive.
They wont need to turn off Netflix it will get turned off for them if they want to pay the rent and eat

The supplement probably produced more hatred for people on it if anything, noticed a couple of people IRL ranting about it over the last few months. And now it's all gone anyway which they probably wont even notice!

Netflix are scammers

Nobody pays for netflix anyway, there's about five accounts that are shared worldwide, whispered from hand to hand as secret lore
