Maybe he has...I'd trade him just for his opportunities. Would def get a game at another club. Wouldn't get anything for him though.
I'm actually surprised he hasn't looked around (up until the knee of course)

What? Lynch is one of our most important players. No way does CEY stay in for him. And I've wanted CEY to get a decent go for years.
I have a hunch he wasnt popular enough with a selection panel heavy hitter.
That still doesnt explain the trade
From what I have heard, we didn’t want to be one paced midfield of similar players. We liked JL but a number of factors came into our decision:
- We were after Gibbs and needed to clear cap room to bring him in. To do that we needed to let JL go, ensure that Henderson’s trigger didn’t activate an extra year of his contract, hence why was he dropped for the final despite being in our top 5 players against West Coast in rd 23.
- Club felt that Matt Crouch and JL were both inside midfielders with similar pace and of similar size and they went with Crouch for obvious reasons.
- There was also Thommo who was getting a game back then but for the long term planning I don’t hink that impacted much.
We didn’t get the Gibbs trade done as Carlton rejected our offer on the final day so we basically lost JL and Henderson for sweet **** all that year.
Except you continue to overlook a number of things
- Douglas is a completely different type of player to either of CEY or Hugh
- Douglas offers more versatility than either of those two. We have played Douglas as an inside mid, outside mid, a small forward and a small defender. Neither CEY or Hugh can play any of those roles. Round 1 Douglas played as a small pressure forward, had 3 shots on goal and around 30 pressure acts. Neither of those two can play that role. Both are more marking types.
As much as I liked him and didn't want him dicked around, his trade was a good opportunity to draw a line in the sand and send him to a draft. Having said that, we've made a profit on our outward trades ever since. But we should have gotten a 2nd for Lyons, he's a quality player and person.
Draw a line in the sand over what though?
From the reports Ive heard, he wanted to stay and was willing to for peanuts.
Remember listening to the draft on radio and thinking at the time it seemed like an afterthougt clearing house moment tied into the Gibbs trade.
I now you can be thick but I will try to explain it to you once in hope that the light might just come on as I don’t really have time to argue with idiots.Wait I'm sorry, what?
CEY and Hugh can't be inside mids or forwards?
Last I checked both had been played as inside mids and forwards.
Furthermore you tout Douglas for having 3 shots on goal, but he only kicked 1 of them. Hugh and CEY have both kicked a goal in each game. As for 'pressure forward' do you know how many tackles Douglas managed to lay in round 1? 0.
I'd also argue that Douglas is no better an outside mid or small defender than either of those players, he hasn't exactly excelled at either of those roles.

Douglas is played as a small, crumbing, pressure forward. Neither Hugh or Cam can play that role. They can be another marking option in the forward line but not a small crumbing forward type!
As for pressure, how many pressure acts did Douglas have in round one? Hint: 6th highest!
CEY suddenly jumped up in people's thoughts since Thursday hasn't he ?? Let's see him do it again this weekBoth seem pretty good to me when the ball is on the deck in a contested situation. How do you define a "crumb"?
I agree with with the 1st 4 but I'd take CEY over Hampton any day of the week.Solid back up if Mouch, Brouch, Douggy, Greenwood and Hampton aren't playing...but then, where are we!

I've rated him pretty highly as a midfielder but not quite ahead of others already there, including JL when he was here.He went ok under Walsh before injury and then tragedy. He also played ok off a flank when covering for Thommo and then Sloane in 2016. It's not really a surprise that he's gone ok when being played in the role he's best at. He needs to though, he won't hold his spot ahead of a fit Brad Crouch, but I Exocet he'll prove a few of the poorer judges wrong along the way.

Trying to get the crowd singing out "I said Yolman" in Village People YMCA tune Thursday night. It was starting to catch on.

CEY and Greenwood really have that height and size as a point of difference in our side, almost acting as extra link men going up field.
