The CFC has had a great history with loads of success and many wonderful people associated with the Club.

It gets me thinking about the Cult Heros we have had in the past but moreso the future Cult Heros of the re-emerging powerhouse that is the Carlton Football Club.

The first name that springs to mind is DENNIS ARMFIELD.

The blonde mop, the occasional sparse moustache, the courage, the heart-in-mouth dashes from the back line, the 'never let my man beat me' attitude, the 'I'm gonna beat my man at all cost' attitude.

This attitude was well illustrated during this years final in Sydney.
Dennis tried to break free from our defensive goal square, unfortunately he was tackled and the freekick resulted in a telling goal for the Swans.
Within minutes he was taking on his man again.
He never gave up or took a softer option even after a very costly error.
True Guts!

Dennis Armfield- my latest Cult Hero

Coming close for me would be Matthew Kreuzer.
We are seeing the transformation from Boy to Man to Legend.
KROOOOOOOOOOOZA!

Then David Ellard.
His size has been a real hinderance to his progression but he has given absolutely everything to make his way into the seniors at Carlton.
Go Lil Davey.

Maybe we will see someone else step up in 2011,
maybe you have your own Cult Hero of the CFC?

Yeah Jeffery is a Superstar in my eyes. How the F*** did these idiots not give him more votes in the Rising Star. I would've given him the fricken award!!

I agree. It was impossible not to love Ang Christou. The way he would dash out of defense and bomb it 50 meters right onto a teammates chest was so great to see. It just sucks that he was held down by injuries so many times.

As for the question of cult heros though, there are so many guys that come to mind, and I think the ones listed in this thread so far have been pretty spot on.

Luke O'Sullivan.
Took him something like 8 years to play 50 games.
Will always remember his celebration after being chaired off after the game.

:thumbsu:

Gets my vote too.

Cult heroes are not always the guns. They can also be lesserlights with a story to tell, great around the club, something quirky about them.

Doull while a champion qualifies because of his softly spoken demeanour and the headband. He's a player of folklore.

Alvin, Christou, Perovic all qualify. Chief Wiggins probably gets a guernsey. Bosustow for his hit and run exciting career at the club.

Probably fair to say that Fev was a gun but also a cult hero, known just as much for his failings as his attributes.

To put it in perspective, Richo is a good example of a Tigers cult hero. Loved equally for his fail moments as his gun moments.

AFter his KO against Collingwood a few years ago, and the fact they kept showing it in slow mo, I'd say Heath Scotland is right up there.

Despite what we all think now, Fev was a massive hero, with his ups and downs, probably one of the biggest in our history.

I think Brad Pearce for us Tasmanians during 95 was also a bit of a hero.

These days, I'm going with Robbo and Setanta.
