Well I have been given the royal treatment in here over the last couple of days.
It has been put by a moderator that I am bad supporter. The opposite is true in fact and easily seen by the type of posts I make and have made.
It seems my only crime is to disagree with the points of view of some - on what it means to be a supporter of the Club. It seems that if you make any criticism or put an opinion about the CLub - that contravenes orthodoxy - you are labelled a troll and a bad supporter.

I will leaave that ridiculous notion there.

As for calling an individual a Dog - in my defence I can only say I dont remember the individual and I did use the plural - I just remember being rather surprised that anyone in the forum would ridicule and man like McLure who is a Club legend and a very respected commentator. Mark has sa Carlton man through and through. - I am happy to defend him in the Carlton Forum.

btw a number of posts above have been altered - removing insults directed at me and thus bleeding the context out certain posts.

Please dont insult me as a supporter it is prety shameful - given no evidence of the accusation. If an objective person were to read my posts in the thread - I doubt they would conclude I am not a Carlton supporter.

Wow.....what a thread. So little patience and such unwillingness to tolerate different views (by both sides). Seems to me that this forum is probably made up, generally speaking, of a fairly representative cross-section of the Carlton following public. Perhaps a little more fanatical in some cases, but from a sociological perspective, pretty representative. In any case it is a shame that people on here can't accept others views. It is a shame that they need to denigrate on such churlish and in most cases, childish terms. Spelling? Really?

It is probably worth noting that as this is a public forum, it may well be made up of people between the ages of 8 and 80. I would really like to think that before posting, people might want to think about that.

For the record, Carlton are certainly behind my expectations of their season. That being said, they have had some issues to deal with on form and injuries. I guess at the post season review, all positions will be considered and recommendations taken to the board. In the mean time, I am going to do all I can to cheer on the mighty blues!

When garish haircuts, coloured boots and Gibbsy's twitters started getting the blame for our faltering season, and the posters were not only serious but furious, this forum got a lot less enjoyable and a lot sillier. This thread is taking that silliness to a new level.

It is going to be a very interesting next 2 weeks if we don't win a game. The reality is top sides like the Hawks and Pies will be ripe for the picking from mid pack teams, its cold, wet, injuries are biting motivation can be tough, most weeks we are now starting to see a huge upset or two.

If a mid table side is up and about then upsets are very much on the cards, it would be most surprising if we can't pinch one of the next two games. I suspect we will field 19 of our first 22 this week.

If we end up 6 and 8 it really will be not a case of stagnation but of a massive step backwards.

I for one expect us to win atleast one of our next two games the side on paper is equally as good as the team we had in the finals last year so no excuses.

The thread was providing interesting discussion until post 19. It only takes the efforts of a couple to bring a thread down - I am pretty sure the same poster helped have the Ratten thread closed. Of course we will have to have a Ratten thread again eventually as coaches just like players are one of footballs main topics of discussion

Yeah, pretty sure I know who you mean. From a personal perspective, I actually quite like his views; it is just that the presentation of those views lacks humility and are totally uncivil.

Who are these pretend Carlton fans of whom you speak? What a pathetic comment to make about supporters who support every player who pulls on the Navy Blue & White & backs the coach instead of wanting him knifed in the back at the first sign of things not going our way. You are clearly one of those supporters who you hear at the ground constantly bagging our players, making the rest of us wonder why you are even bothering to watch the game.

As for calling me a dog (yes I made the comment about Maclure, because he is paid to say something controversial, preferably about our club, not to provide rational commentary), you ever post this sort of shit about me again & I will make sure you never post on BF again. It is supporters like you that have led me to the conclusion that there are a minority of Carlton supporters who are even less tolerable than Collingwood or Essendon supporters & that is saying something.

I understand that your role as a Mod is difficult and you provide a great service on this site, I also understand that it is important that Mod's are respected for their work to hold this entire forum together and therefore should not be subjected to the same level of vitriol that others need to endure. However, this is not cool. That is a direct threat, seemingly on unjustified grounds, that probably undermines you and your fellow Mod's. But while it is still open I am genuinely curious as to why, you would bother to post a critical post and in it admit you probably dont have a proper understanding of what has occurred? What could you possibly achieve except to re-ignite a fire that was smouldering if not already out?

I would actually like the opportunity to reply to this. I think that this board is tied down with unnecessary vitriol. I like your views; I think they are valid and mostly aligned to mine. However, I dislike your attitude towards other posters, many of which may be kids (not sure, but worth considering). I would like to think that someone that can make as coherent and well considered points as you obviously can, would be more considered and more broad in your approach to others that may not have the same gifts as you do.

To answer your question, the reason that I posted here is that I would like to think that people like you and I, could have rational and considered discussion on all things Carlton without denigrating each other or trying to "win" an argument. I understand the frustrations of this place but I also understand the benefits.

Further to this point, I have not read through every post and would like to think that a lot of it has been more about discussion of this club that we all love and less about personal agenda's; you clearly have one. As I said, I agree with your view's, I trust this mighty club and the way that they conduct business, I love the harmony that is shared between football club supporters and that I can meet someone at a train station that supports the Blues and share a rare moment of considered and collective discussion about the relative successes of the club. I think in almost all ways it is the Carlton football club that binds this forum, and keeps us together so I don't much feel like abusing my fellow supporter. Obviously, it is important to respect everyone, listen to what they have to say, and respond in a way that is dignified. I guess I use this as an underlying principle with all that I do. I think you might want to consider this.

Numerous number of posts in this thread have been deleted and I can assure you it was NOT a Moderator that took it off track.

This thread has gone totally off the rails like the Ratten thread, therefore it has run it's course and won't end well.
