Mouse behavior

The School of Life Sciences at the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) is seeking for a full-time specialist in mouse behavior to manage the Mouse Behavioral Phenotyping platform. This is a fee-for-service multi-user core facility dedicated to providing behavioral testing services and general advice on suitable behavioral testing approaches to researchers at the EPFL and to potential external collaborators.

The successful applicant will work closely with the director of the Laboratory of Behavioral Genetics and under the supervision of the director of the new Mouse Phenogenomics Facility.

Responsibilities include:
· Providing expertise in mouse behavioral testing methodology (tests for general behavior, emotionality, learning and memory, attention) and in animal models of psychopathology, as well as in the data analyses and interpretation.
· Training and supervising facility personnel as well as potential users from the EPFL.
· Active participation in the establishment and developments of the phenotyping platform.
· Engagement in the development of new automated equipment in coordination with researchers and engineers of the EPFL.
· Ensuring the maintenance of equipment.
· Financial management of the facility.
· Reporting to potential partners about services offered and results obtained.

Experience / Qualifications:
· PhD in the field of behavioral neurobiology and/or behavioral genetics.
· Good experience with standard mouse behavioral equipment and software.
· Good knowledge of experimental psychology and psychopathology applied to rodent behavior.
· Experience with drug administration procedures and surgery would be an advantage.
· English and French at very good level are required.
· Strong communication, computing and interpersonal skills are important.
· Good organization skills and capacity to work both independently and in a team.

Starting date : as soon as possible (fixed-term contract, with possibility to renew it).The position is available immediately and will be open until filled.
