Every club has their own biased (trying to be nice here) supporters who get carried away with the 'C' word and use it like it's going out of fashion to describe their players. But which players in the last 20 years really deserve to be labelled a champion? Are there that many?
At Melbourne Robert Flower is the only obvious one that spings to mind, although Jim Stynes must be a serious chance considering where he came from and his achievements (brownlow and record number of games in a row). Our lack of success though is a good indication that we have so few to choice from.
From other clubs Buckley, Voss and Hird and the obvious current ones. Carey and Ablett were definitely champions, but after that I'm struggling. Does a player like Kernahan, whose performances were impressive over such a long time, deserve to get the label?
