6 Friday Night Games along with the season opener. The game at Gold Coast will be against Freo saving us a trip over there.

With Carlton, Richmond and St Kilda respectively scheduled to replace the three North Melbourne home games on the Gold Coast in 2009, those Melbourne-based clubs have all snubbed the Lions as a potential opponent, unwilling to give away any small home advantage.

As a result the Lions are expected to contest a record four away games at the MCG, two at Telstra Dome and one at Geelong. Carlton will take on Fremantle at the first Gold Coast game next season, with St Kilda expected to play Adelaide and Richmond likely to take on Melbourne.

The AFL appears bullish regarding Carlton's prospects, having scheduled the Blues six Friday night games along with the Thursday night season-opener against Richmond at the MCG.

Ummm not to afraid of playing Richmond, Brisbane or StKilda twice...

I think we'll break our hoodoo against Saints this year (inside knowledge from Harvs)..

I'd be more concerned about playing Collingwood and Essendon twice as usual.... but then if we make the finals playing the best multiple times in the season then that will make the year even more so satisfying.

Richmond, Saints and Brisbane are all winnable. Not sure about Geelong and Hawthorn at this stage.

I can't see us not playing Collingwood and Essendon twice as they are the Blockbuster money games and what people want to see.

Think I should of phrased it better... I know we'll be playing dons and pies twice as usual... but I think playing those 2 is harder than playing richmond, brisbane or stkilda

Me neither JJ. Although, playing Geelong and Hawthorn twice each would be tough. Although, Richmond did it this year, and we all know they only just missed a spot in the finals. The draw will be released soon enough, and there is nothing that we can do about who we play. Just prepare as well as we can, and give it 110% each week.

Next year we should make finals but I can't realistically see us making the grand final so....

On the basis of that, the harder the draw the better (as long as we can play finals ;)) the more experience we get vs teams like Geelong and Hawthorn the better. There's a lot more to gain from learning against teams like that than playing Melbourne twice.

Can't have it all our own way. We got a favourable draw this year and we can't get one every year. Hope the blues look at it as a challenge and show us what they're made of.

Agreed. Anyway, none of those teams intimidate me anymore. The sooner we start screwing teams like those over, the sooner the rest of the competition will fear us, providing us with a psychological advantage.

You're right.

It would be great to make the finals on the back of an easy draw, then find out one or two weeks in that we really just aren't up to speed and get PUMPED.

Who do you think we are.......Collingwood?;)

Bring on the Cats, Hawks...........Doggies........and anyone else.
If we aren't good enough to beat them, and we don't make the finals then good.

Why bother making the finals if we can't beat two or three of the teams there?
Much better off staying outside the 8 accessing young talent until we are good enough to mix it with the best.

Bring on a tough draw I say.:thumbsu:

Geelong and the Hawks should.:thumbsu:

I thought we had a pretty easy draw this year, and we dropped a lot of winnable games.

I have high confidence next year with a full strength Judd, hopefully Hadley and another year into Gibbs who is looking to become one of the leagues elites.

Bring on 2009; I think (like others) that StK will be beatable, and the more we play topline teams the better for our development if we win against the mid range teams.

Geelong and the Hawks should.:thumbsu:

Not any more. Both are beatable, the difference being we know we can - your mob has zero self belief. Probably fair enough too. :thumbsu:

That's my attitude too. You learn from playing the best.

The 6 Friday night games will be great for sponsorships. Pity I hate the hassle of them.
