This Terry Wallace school of playing the kids alongside bigger bodies so they could learn more quickly and absorb less punishment was thoroughly discredited. You were the first to ask for his sacking.

Keep getting games into the kid and let them learn and grow as a group together, without inheriting the same bad habits passed down from the Wayne Campbell generation of play for yourself, collect high stats and renegotiate high contracts.

I won't attempt to dignify that drivel with a formal response, snipe at your will

I am an unadulterated Tuck fan.....but...for some reason I have assumed that someone, the brains trust et al, sat down and discussed how Rounds 1-4 were highly likely to be 4 losses regardless of who played and therefore it is a prime time to play the kids and in effect be none worse off. Seems to make sense to me but I have no idea where I got the notion. I share Goldies annoyance at the defenders who got rubbed out, McGuane especially who knew we were already down Rance and still did what was quite a reckless act really.

In short....1 more week to go before we start to win a few.

That is pretty much bang on Roo Stew :thumbsu:

whilst Bo and 80 are incapable of having an adult conversation with each other (:p) ... i do agree with 80 . football is a different game to 20 years ago , hell , 10 years ago . The days of Roger Merritt coming out and walloping first gamers are over . players are protected these days more than ever . Its becoming more and more a young mans game every year . The days of players serving apprentiships in the magoos are but a shadow of the past . I'm of the firm belief that there is more to gain and learn from playing them at the highest level than in the VFL ... and if we as supporters lower our friggin expectations for the short term (for once) and be patient we will reap the dividends down the track of having gotten early miles into some tyros. Whilst these games aint dead rubbers (but they are;)) no better time to find out who has what , especially with a few players that Pace to freeze pointed out .

Do you reckon Reece Conca knows more about the game and the level he has to lift himself too now or would he have been better running around at Coburg running rings around hacks the last 3 weeks ?

I reckon Grimes would have learned more in one night than he has in the last 18 months . Whilst Mc Guane is a f..kin tool ... may well have been a little blessing in disguise getting a run under this kids belt .

Trust in the coach and keep our eyes on the big prize i say , its not about formulating a structure that may jag a few wins this year ... its about formulating a structure that will see us making numerous final series in years to come

Game time, game time & yes you guessed it more game. This is whats needed and you just can't buy it or get it any other way. It means pain, but that the fine print of there are no short cuts or we wont take the easy way out. Thats what was said and I thought most agreed. At this stage results/wins are not the primary focus.

Have you ever thought that it might be that they are preserving Tuck? He is a hard body, he is whatever you say he is, but he is also a year older and took some heavy stuff last year...

Do you reckon they'd be playing him in the VFL doing his usual extraction role if that was the case California?

I'm suspecting you're quite possibly Tony Abbott's chief adviser going on the kind of intellectual brilliance you're displaying here. ;)

I don't think its that far off the mark Rayzor .

I'm tipping he'll come in around the round 6-8 mark when a few report cards are stamped ... maybe a couple of injuries , or when a couple of kids show signs of needing a break

Naa man, they would have sent him to the Bahamas, to get some rays and top off the suntan. Like FFS, surely an old pro like you understands the difference in intensity between playing in the top flight and in the VFL. I mean thats why you play kids there, so they can find their feet, without copping the big knocks and pressure of the top flight.
Lets put it this way, like someone else has suggested, the first 4 rounds were most likely pencilled in as a possible steal of 8 points in the first 2 games, a real ourside chance in R3 and a lets see how far we have to go in R4. Circumstances, suspensions etc, turned R3's chances into shit, and those circumstances have turned R4 into a ****ing nightmare.

Why would you think that Dimma is spewing about the first 2 rounds, where we were in the hunt to nab all the points? Why?, because that would have put us way ahead of our realistic targets of wins.

Now after we get over next Friday, we have a run of 4 or 5 games where I can guarantee ya the brains trust have pencilled in as us having a top show to go for a run of wins.
Enter Tuck, fresh not overly extended, with our young mids now having the hard body experience, to lighten the load.
Now cease your simplistic live for the moment rants about why no Tuck and look at the big picture. ;)

What? Learn how to lose ? or how to get smashed?

Gee all the other clubs are dumb they are playing older hardened bodies with the kids, well havent we got a surprise for them.

Tuck should have played end of story, connors is a bit like essendon was last year all offense and no defense,

I thre him in to answer the obvious question of who to leave out, then again there is edwards,

Dimma has made two huge blews this season.

Lets run out and sign Kent Kingsley.

How about we find out if Pettifer's knee has healed and give him another run?

Tivs anyone?

Plenty of rubbish senior players we kept around the club way too long who did nothing but win us a couple of soft games but set back the development of younger players.

Quite possibly Iddy, I just don't understand the decison to leave him out and it really goes against my football philosophies, so I can't help but disagree with what they're doing.

If they're trying to nurse his body as you suggested then why not play him on a wing or off the ball altogether? There's a difference in speed in the VFL, but that doesn't equate to a difference in the physical punishment an inside mid has to absorb, in fact, playing inside he's fair game for any opposition mid who wants to knock off a 'name player' and enhance their reputation. How 'fresh' does that make him two rounds from now?

How is that different to my reaction on letting those games slip away?

As I said in the pre-season, Hardwick needs to get us over the line in 8-9 games minimum this year and have much fewer blow-outs or he and the club are going to go into the final year of his contract under the pump from all directions. Those games would have had us 25% of the way there and allowed us the potential for a lot more experimentation and youth development than will happen if we head into the bye with only 2-3 wins - or worse.
