Good lockdown defenders always rank pretty low in the tackle count stats.

He 'locked down' Oliver Florent who had his best game for the year (6 marks 2 goals) while providing literally nothing offensively.

Guthrie was comfortably the worst player on the ground and is still below AFL level. He's who Paul Roos is talking about when he said last week 'players getting a game now wouldn't make the Swans U19 team back when I was coaching'

Maybe true, maybe not.
But irrelevant to my post.

I say nothing about how well he did or didn't play last week, but tackle counts are no measure of a lockdown defender's performance in that role.

They do their job by sticking close enough to their man to either intercept or spoil the ball or to discourage team-mates from passing it to him.
Ronke Florente and Fox kicked 6 goals between them and had 40 possessions for the game.
He didn’t lock anyone down

It’s bizzare that people are defending that game by Zuthrie.
In 120 minutes of football he managed to get near the ball 4 times!!!!!! Provided no tackles, no run or link out of defence and allowed his opponent to have the best game of his career.
He was dropped for poor form, he was bought back into the side because of injuries, and his poor form has continued despite being given another chance.

I’d say he’s very lucky........he needs a big game tonight.
