What bullshit that Fyfe isn't a good kick! He's a dead eye in front of goal can do it easily from 50. I remember one day at Subi when there was a howling south wester and no one could get it near a 6 pointer and he robbed 2 in 5 minutes both from angles starting his run outside the 50. Absolutely buried them low and hard into the teeth of the wind and they never looked liked missing. His field kicking percentages are down because he goes for high risk, high reward kicks. Stats are meaningless in his case compared to someone like DeBoer who goes for safe little chips within his limitation, Fyfe will try and centre it or kick at 45 degrees at full pace off either foot. Look at his kicking against Sydney in the wet that day when he got the BOG on the SCG, it was brilliant. Scooped the ball up at full pace on a wing with one hand then out it down Pav's throat with a perfectly weighted ball. His vision, decision making, weighting and degree of difficulty on his kicks are excellent. Sure he's not Walters but I'd have in comfortably in the top bracket at Freo.
Sometimes his execution lets him down and you can see the look on his face when it does, kid sleeps with a footy and by the time he's in his prime his kicking will be almost elite.

I was thinking today it would be ideal to bring him in against GWS as sub. They tend to fold in the second half of matches so let him run around in about the lowest pressure game we are going to get and get the feel for it then start him on the ground against Port the week after.

He may be a good kick at times, but his disposal efficiency is among the worst in the AFL and has been consistently so.

No elite player in the AFL has ever averaged 55% DE like Fyfe has over the journey.

Hey, kids a great player, great vision, versatility, courage, leadership, decision making and all that. I just won´t call him elite until he tidies up a bit.

Smothers count as bad disposals I'm fairly sure? Fyfe does seem to get guys flying over his boot fairly often, he is tall and the ball drops a fair distance more than others. Something he needs to improve.

Also Fyfe hasn't had a fit Barlow (someone who runs all day) to be able to deliver to which has a massive impact on efficiency, takes two to tango when it comes to kicking. So his actual kicking numbers are not too bad, but he still has to work on not getting smothered as much and to have a little bit more composure by knowing his team mates will be where they should be.

His efficiency stats are down because one particular team mate wasn't out there? Um, what about the other 17 blokes on the field with him?

Anyway Fyfe wins so much hard ball alot of his kicks are just trying to get it forward. Not our best. Not our worst.

They are mostly rubbish at finding space and helping out their team mates by giving them options? When we do have free men is usually when there are turnovers. When there are stoppages it is rare for us to have free men to kick to, we just kick to contests most of the time. This is a by product of not playing man on man of course so Ross has developed a gameplan that work around the current players deficiencies at finding space.

When your midfielders are kicking to contests all the time it is going to decrease disposal efficiency. Barlow is someone that is usually in space, a rarity for Freo, so yes that one player does help tremendously in that regard. We need more though.

A babby between you and s000z would cause a nuculare breakdown.

@AFL_PKeane: Frem v GWS; Faulks, van Berlo, Suban, Clarke, Crichton for Broughton, Mayne.

There goes Broughton... That will cause headaches for SC.

JVB a strange inclusion.

Rewarding good form I suspect. Maybe the last chance to perform well in AFL before a delisting later in the year. JVB would have to be near the top of the list of de-listable players at the end of the year. Maybe the coach thought he'd give him a crack before punting him at the end of the season.

As others have said... a good WAFL player, but lacks the class required to make it in the AFL.
