Wonder if they'd consider NAblett against his old club?

Didn't see anyone else pick up on this...

Sandy, you may have your Abletts mixed up.... Nathan used to play for Geelong, Luke Ablett (SOG/G.Ablett's cousin) played for the Swans but now plays in the VFL i think.

:)

Thanks McV...was aware LAblett was the Swans player..it's a running theme on our board wondering when or if NAblett will get a game this year.:p
None of us rate him for this w/e so I was speculating on whether they might consider him for the Cardinia Carnage.

question is with sydneys kicking problems and the double travel do we have a chance at tipping them?

trouble once again is our back line but if we keep the ball moving we may be able to tire them out they really like the stop start ruck contest's

weather will be clear cold and bugger all wind if we can keep sydney from taking their shots 40M+ it should stress them (based on current form)

another problem we have is stop them kicking backwards and side ways like the bulldogs did towards the end of their game, sydney play like this often

also sydney focus on a very strong man to man defence rather then zoning this gives us the chance to get a man loose right on the edge of 50M on a turnover, tough shots to make but we have to make them if we are to have a chance.

id rather us shoot from further out then try and take on sydney's D although their habit of tapping rather then ever marking means a crumber might be usefull

tagging options god help us, still though i get the feeling this might be a surprising result we should atleast give them a scare if they keep kicking like mules

May I suggest that Gary Ablett has a week off, he is looking tired and needs a rest. In the interest of his health and well being I feel it is my duty to point this out. He would be fine to play the following week. thankyou.

I'm sure we'll pass it on. :thumbsu::D

lol ^^^. I think goodsey is due for a rest also.

Official team for Sydney:

FB: Hunt, Bock, Thompson
HB: Wilko, Brown, Harbrow
C: McKenzie, Brennan, Prestia
HF: Stanley, Lynch, Russell,
FF: Fraser, Gorringe, Matera

Int: Shaw, Rischitelli, Iles, Bennell

EMG: Jolly, Daye, Dixon

BENNELL FINALLY IN! Hope he tears the Swans to shreds. Wrapt for the guy. :) He'd be the sub, you would think.

Jeez. Dixon really jibbed to not get a game after last week. Guess Fraser pulled up alright. I would have put Dixon in for Gorringe, surely. :( Gorringe was very sub-par last week. Hope he lifts.

Otherwise, LOVE the look of the team. Probably one of our strongest? Would go a Gorringe/Dixon swap and then that's our strongest.

Great to see Riska back.

thompson a big in, born and bred gold coaster. Just quietly I think he will be that extra big down back weve been craving.

Harris a bit stiff to get a game, hed slot in nicely I thought to tag a Jack/Bolton type and get those inside clearances. Also id say they are saving Liddy for the Cairns trip, outside pressure will force the club to play the locals up there alongside Harbrow/Dixon/Smith.

Good test for Dixon here, needs to show he can back it up against the Swans reserves. Last week means nothing if he doesnt. Get down to Metricon early and watch the game.

I think this game will be the biggest gage of the season as to where we are at. Quite a few guys in the side that need to step up to hold their spots, hope they can!

Is Weller playing NEAFL this week?

Congrats to big Rory, shame I won't be there to see his first game. :( He went to my high school, so hopefully he stays in the team for a few weeks for the Collingwood/Saints games at home. I think Hutchins is very unlucky to be dropped, once again... I guess he's making way for Thompson, but I think he should have stayed in the team.

Good to see the rest of the inclusions back as well, especially Lynch.

Would think Shaw or Bennell will be the sub.

I just hope that all of our "injured players" from last week's game are actually okay and not playing with injury. Need a fit team out there every week.

Was sort of expecting Hutchins to get omitted. I have a feeling it's more due just to rest him, rather than form based. He has played a lot of footy over the past few weeks and done lots of travelling. Probably needs a week or 2 to get some R&R.

Don't think anyone would still be injured. They've shown to rest our players, especially our senior bodies if they have any hint of injury. So I wouldn't worry about it, Exile. :D I saw vision of Rischitelli training, and he was looking very smooth.

I reckon Dixon will come in for Josh Fraser who is struggling with an ankle injury.

Fraser didn't train today, was just taking pot shots at a wheelie bin with a few of the other guys.

Although Fraser has been much improved as the season has gone on I think. Dixon SHOULD come in for him. Although O'Bree said he needs to find consistent form in the 2's to get a recall in the seniors. http://www.goldcoastfc.com.au/news-and-media/news/obree-on-dixon/

Well, Ablett's right knee is a bit of a concern. Has it strapped and he's walking lightly, but not 100%. :(

Brown has been good in defense and the midfield has been alright, but the entries into forward 50 have been terrible except once.

Brennan is a bum........this guy does some unbelievable stuff but his basics are very ordinary!

Good to see Bock holding strong once again....GUN! :thumbsu:

So does anyone think we're actually improving?
Has GWS been smart and used Sheedy.
Starting to wonder if an inexperienced coach and an inexperienced side is a good mix.

Patience Grasshopper. It is going to be up and down like this for the next couple of years. It was another case of men against boys tonight. Disappointing and not acceptable yes, but it's the path we've chosen. If we're still losing by these types of margins after our kids have played 50 - 60 games each (not 5 -6), then we should be concerned. Just keep looking for the glimpses from our kids who show something. Tonight for me it was Hayden Jolly and Joel Wilkinson. Rory Thompson showed a bit too after a rough first quarter.
