I think you will find the MC have the expectation for Mclean & Hadley to play similar roles, take some heat off Judd in the hard contested ball etc, Mclean has not had the preparation for a final to be considered, Hadley has had reasonable form in the last month, as if Carazzo is unavailable more than likely he will be the one to replace him.

Both have their weaknesses in their games, Hadley is match fit & reasonable form and is much more likely to play than Mclean.
You're right that they do have the same expectation and that McLean most likely doesn't have the match fitness but Hadley does not do this job. He just stood around earlier in the year while McPhee monstered Judd. he is a good accurate handballer who lays a few tackles but he is not someone you can rely on at all to take the heat off his team mates with any sort of grunt work. It's a bit of a myth about him being an inside mid.

Bolton wary of Blues' midfield
"You obviously learn from that game but so will they. You can go in with that preparation but other teams change as well," he said on Wednesday.

"We know that we started really well against them and they changed their tactics halfway through the game.

"They've got an extremely talented group in their midfield and that's where it's going to be won and lost this weekend. We were able to contend with them six rounds ago but that's long gone now."

I  Jude Bolton.

Bigger than he looks on the box.

I nearly bowled him over earlier this year when he was coming out of a store near home.

He squibbed it.

In Thorton hadley if Carrazo is not fit, Jacobs OUT Hampson far too inconsistent does not do enough, and maybe never will! Davies too inexperienced to play finals and is not ready. Has potential and shopuld be persited with. Why the hell Ratten and co decided to play him with three games to go i dont know. Should have been used much earlier in the year along with Ellard to give him more experience , perhaps when White went down.

Time for talk is over actions speak louder than words , we are rank outsiders and our team should use this for motivation and last years debacle. I would also look at robinson costly errors last week, maybe Setanta big body, or Fish or even MClean!!

Do something different make Roos think! I have grave doubts on us this week . If we allow Sydey to suffocate us we are gone. Run and intensity is our only hope . As i have said study how Collingwood do it and implement this game plan. Have we the Coach and players to cause an upset. I would love to think so, but my Brain is telling me Sydney by 27 points.

Come on Carlton prove me wrong make me eat my words, give us the supporters something we havent had for nearly 10 years now!!!

In: Jacobs
Out: Hampson

Most obvious one this needs to be done

In: Thornton
Out: Davies

Thornton just seems to make our defense line up better, prefer him to a 3rd game rookie when finals are on the line.

-----------------
Possible changes
-----------------

In: Hadley/Mclean
Out: Carazzo

I'd prefer Carazzo but if he doesn't pull up we need another mid and these 2 are it.

In: Walker
Out: Robinson

I think Walker could do a better job in the shut down forward role or Scotland could play it and have Walker take his position down back.

3 changes should be the limit so if carazzo isn't fit Robbo gets a let off otherwise I see him missing out.

Why do I feel the Swans think this will be a walk in the park? :(

Get Robbo to do a job on Malceski....

A couple of changes, bring in some fresh legs and run em stupid..

Finals anything can happen...we can win this :footy:

Hadley in, not sure who will come out.

No way Hampson will be dropped. How quickly everyone forgets how Mumford tore Jacobs apart in our last clash with his leap in the contests. Hampson will be vital this week.

Totally agree. Hampson had a shocker against Freo, but prior to that he had been good, and had improved with each game he had played. It's not like Jacobs was great against the Cats. To put it in perspective Hampson was against Sandilands, Jacobs against Blake. i don't think it's worth changing again off of one bad game.

Just read on the CFC website that Sydney have lost their last 5 games at ANZ Stadium....

It’s also worth noting that Swans have dropped their past five matches at ANZ Stadium, with the run beginning in the ninth round of 2009.

The last time South Melbourne/Sydney defeated Carlton in a final was the first semi of 1918.

Taboo ??

Taboo ??

We wish. They've lost them to Geelong, St. Kilda and Collingwood. They're certainly better on the SCG, but they only play the good teams at ANZ, hence the bad record.

After listening to a few of Ratts' pressers, I think the Jacobs for Hampson change is a foregone conclusion.

They're not happy about it ...

And we're a good team

Don;t reckon Mummy will play, before the Brisbane game Roos said it was a 1 to 3 week injury.

Bradshaw returned in the two's last week, hence he is no longer on the injury list.

Could be....

Mumford / Pyke arent speedsters. Maybe they want one ruckman to match the strong, slow ruckman type and use Warnock in a range of roles?
However, it's a long, long ground - Perhaps the extra athleticism Hampson brings could expose that type of ruckman.

That means the MC need faith in Hampson to convert the opportunities presented to him when exposing Mumford / Pyke on the break - not that Pyke would be particularly slow.

That's the difference between Jacobs and Hampson.
Hampson creates a number of opportunities that he fails to make the most of.
Jacobs creates few opportunities, but takes advantage of the majority.

I know which I'd prefer.

There is also an interesting subtext, if BIB is right, and Jacobs is on the march, a convincing finals performance really could inflate his value.

I think we have forgotten the importance of Armfield this week. If we can use his leg speed to create a lot of plays off half back ala rd 5 Geelong, we will go along way to winning the game IMO

It won't be our rebound that concerns me.

Last time they smashed us early in the middle, we can't have that happening and expect to win. Also they always play an extra man in defense which cramps our smalls for space so both Henderson and Waite need to step up and have big games as well as one of the rucks drifting forward.

COuld be....

All the more reason to play a faster ruckman on them. Run off them all day, make them work hard for every inch of space and they'll keep getting slower until they are reduced to tall timber in the forward line.

In - Thornton
Out - Davies

Davies is to new for finals. Make's too many mistakes and gives away too many free's. He look's promising for a first year but we need our best for finals.

In - Walker
Out - Carazzo (if not match fit)

Not sure if it has been mentioned, but I heard on the radio on Sunday that Bradshaw broke down in the twos and is done for the season.

Apparently that was incorrect info.

Nonetheless, Roos still ruled him out when questioned about his possible inclusion. This "race against time" was for the next final - should they make it.

Yes well he hasn't been named :D
