Gun defenderI'm not too familiar with Mihocek as a defender. Can anyone enlighten me on his potential in this position?

Mihocek to play as a defender.
Mclarty to play as a forward.
Or
Mihocek to play forward.
Essendon don’t have a very tall forward line.
Either way, Varcoe plays this week.
I tend to agree. Does it play into Hurley's hands to sag off and terrorise Cox as third man up all day?I reckon they'll send Mihocek back and play Cox as a sole key forward. Have a more mobile forward line like they tried out early season. It's not how i'd play it but I think it's likely.
From what we were told tonight at the mid season review I don’t think McClarty will be coming in. They believe Essendon will have three talls and 3 smalls. They are going to ask Landgon and Scharenberg to play taller.
They don’t want to play Mihocek in defence but that might happen. There isn’t anyone to come in at this stage imo.
Player sponsorship. Check out the thread for a review from myself and manicmagpieWait, what review? How did you get an invite?
Irony is his dad used to be an Essendon player ( although only 8 games). It's his natural position. Mihocek reads the ball well in flight and can take a strong intercept mark. He's a decent stopper. As an example he kept McKernan (his likely opponent) goalless in the VFL last year. He has been one of the best key backs at VFL level in recent years. He is also a good field kick and has penetration in his kicking. I seem to remember his knock was his mobility and perhaps pace. But he looks plenty mobile in the forward line at AFL level so not sure how accurate that is. He'll go alright back there with the opportunity I reckon.
As long as it's not marks and just bringing ball to ground with spoils its a 50/50. (Of course Seedsfan will disagree because Cox isn't clunking them against 2 defenders.I tend to agree. Does it play into Hurley's hands to sag off and terrorise Cox as third man up all day?
. )Hmmm.Would like to see the following changes:
INS: Varcoe, Greenwood, Murray
OUTS: Dunn, Appleby, Crocker/Daicos
Murray for some added pace off half back. Essendon have a pretty quick team so need some extra pace.
Greenwood to play a run with role on Merrett. Start him in the middle and have him annoy Merrett all day.
Varcoe back into the forward line for added defensive pressure.
Would play DeGoey out of the goal square similar to how Danger/Martin are played when up forward.
B - Langdon Mihochek Howe
HB - Maynard Sharenberg Crisp
C - Phillips Pendlebury Sidebottom
HF - WHE Cox Varcoe
F - Thomas DeGoey Stephenson
R - Grundy Adams Greenwood
INT - Murray Mayne Sier Daicos/Crocker
In: Oxley?
Will Adam Oxley come in and be our Fletcher Roberts? Couldn’t seperate the two of them in a line up.
Tongue in cheek comment given somehow Fletcher Roberts is a premiership defender. I can imagine the melts if he did come in for Dunn.To do what replace Dunny brush? McKernan will kick 10 on Oxley, better off rolling the dice with McLarty or reshuffle Mihocek back.

If we can beat the Bombers with our current injury list I will start to believe that we can pull off a Bulldogs Premiership.
Get into Finals; 1 week off after round 23 which gives our injured players who are trickling through between now and then extra time to hit peak fitness. Miraculous Treloar return for an Elimination Final against a Vic team (Geelong) at the MCG.

Will be somewhat of a yard stick I’d have thought. Over the last 6 rounds we beat WCE, GWSand GEEL during that period along with North who were in the 8 at the time.Essendon while in good form aren't the yard stick, we have a block of games vs true top teams coming, imo we need to beat at least 50% of them and be competitive vs the rest to have any hope in Sept of being a real flag threat. Our injury's need a turn of luck.
So Moore is not even available for VFL this week ?
Thanks for the detailed reply quicky. So by the sounds of it he can take Dunn's position then?
