Surely Darren Jolly will be dropped? Terrible terrible player atm. Doesnt care about the club and is only around to pick up a paycheque. Doesnt really hide it either with his so called 'effort' he puts in.

You really should take this to the Dean Cox board big fella. :o

I am apologising in advance BUT with everything at stake...NO PLAYER in the VFL did enough to warrant senior selection. If JA comes back from todays game its a joke he got dropped. The VFL skills were woeful. A couple of players showed glimpses like Dawes second half but not enough for a promotion. It was only three weeks ago we were excited about our depth this year....hmmmm.

Shaw will be brought in for ?. Thats it. Those calling for N.Brown or Goldy are doing so from personal preferences not based on current form.

I will add I think the justification in having Leroy in the side is we might be "carrying" Fraser. This situation is not going to last long but not this week me thinks :)

Why should senior players in the AFL who have been abysmal for weeks get another crack when we know what they will give, an untried can surprise or maybe even with that extra year in the system have developed a bit...

OUT: Davis, Medhurst, L Brown
IN: Dawes, Shaw, N Brown

Sick of young kids like Jmac and Macaffer or whipping boys like Fraser and Obree coping all the blame. At least the kids have a crack as for fraser I thought his game was OK last night didn't seem to be played forward to much but when he was near the ball seemed dangerous to me. Proably wasn't Obree's greatest game but there isn't really another inside mid to come in for him and ussually he does the job.

Davis and Meds consistently go missing when the pressure is turned on and a message needs to be sent that it can't be tolerated and I don't care if it means a loss to the hawks. While the ins aren't like for like I believe it fixes the balance issues we had last week. As for L brown he has taken the tough stuff he was doing against the doggies too far and turned it into dumb stuff he is a liability and if he isn't suspended should be dropped with N brown seeming the logical replacement.

JMAC CAUGHT TWICE LIKE A BEAR IN HEADLIGHTS REALLY MADE ME ANGRY. BUT I'DE LIKE TO SEE HIM STAY IN THE TEAM.

I wouldn't know where to start with omissions. i don't think we have anyone to come back in that will make a big impact apart from shaw and anthony.

We'll need another backman. Depending on VFL form, I'd be leaning towards Brown to do a job on Roughead. If he has a poor showing in the VFL, Reid it is.

In: Dawes, Brown/Reid, Anthony
Out: Fraser, L Brown, McCarthy

If Shaw is fit, he can come in for Macaffer.

I agree with these changes, with Reid, not Brown, to come into the side. Brown was pretty ordinary in the VFL.

In: Dawes, Shaw, Reid, Anthony
Out:Fraser, McCarthy, O'Bree, L Brown

Reasoning: Dawes, we need a forward to smash the packs and offer another target. JA seemed to get some form in Magoos and we need accurate kicks up forward. Shaw - provides run and should be keen to make up for his game against the Dees. Reid - Need a tall down back, needs the experience and can kick well.

L Brown and O'Bree didn't offer us much. Fraser just isn't hard enough or consistent enough up forward at this point in time and isn't really need against Renouf.

Positional changes: With O'bree out, put Pendles in the middle where he belongs. Jolly to ruck on his own with back up support from dawes/cloke. Rotate Davis through middle/HF to bring in some spark and better kicks into the 50. Lockyer to stay forward as he can kick straight, will forgive his game last night as he is usually a hard working consistent performer.

Don't think to yourself for one minute that anyone in the VFL will make the side better, only if it's a structural change. However, I don't think we can afford to carry Leigh Brown, much rather a runner in his place, he offers no value if we are going to play Jolly/Fraser (that's another debate).

The real effort needs to be about run and carry from the back half and the middle otherwise our forwards will get sucked up the ground and we'll get eaten by the zone. BJ and Heater are sorely missed. Not sure playing Lockyer there was smart though, prefer his smarts up front and they played a risk taker in that spot.

However on the chopping block this week could be;

L.Brown, McCaffer, JMac, Toovey.

The rest are OK for another week.

lmao @ the clown who said malthouse out buckley in
Buckley is our forward coach isnt he, havnt been kicking straight all year have we forgotten the preseason Richmond game.
its a kneejerk reaction to be making lots of changes now, they played great footy for 3 and a bit qtrs, saints just got a run on in the end to blow it out.
if we had of kicked at least 3 goals in that 3rd term we wouldve broken the saints. but full credit to them.

anyway my thoughts are we need to exploit the hawks at thier weakness and thats in height dept, with hodge and roughy taking some ruck duties takes them out of the 2nd contest, so we should go in tall in ruck back and fwd.

thats my thoughts and who cares about a members selection thoughts, cert not CFC they have a plan we just need to have faith in it, if it dosent work by say rnd 8 then the season is stuffed

Even with Nesian's four changes, players out of form such as Toovey, Medhurst, Davis, and Jolly remain in the side. Perhaps it is time to take a reality check on our 'depth'. There are guys like Rounds, McNamara, Blight, Keefe, Francis, Reed etc in the VFL who are unlikely to make an impact in the AFL this year. Others are deemed too small (Blair), lacking composure (Buckley), experienced but flawed (Cook etc), fragile (Rusling) or raw (our new draftees). I reckon we are a year ahead of ourselves with our premiership ambitions. McCarthy was terrible but should get another week to settle his nerves and pick up the pace of the game.

Time to be bold and look to the future.

OUT: L Brown, Toovey, Fraser, O'Bree, Macaffer
IN: Dawes, Reid, Rounds, Anthony, Shaw

It's not fair on any of the other fringe players if he keeps his spot and would say bad things about Matlhouse if he's kept in. His performance was terrible and he must be sent back to the VFL for at least two weeks.

After re-watching last night's game and today's VFL I'll change one of my outs from Macaffer to OB.
J.A. needs to improve on today's effort. He looked quite selfish.

IN: Dawes, Shaw

OUT: McCarthy, O'Bree

Was I watching a different VFL game?

Reid is a school girl. Rolling on the ground in the middle after the slightest contact... I felt like going out there and slapping him.

Why the F does he go to ground so much... In the last quarter he almost got done for holding the ball 20 meters out after collapsing over the ball.

I reckon Fraser could carve us up. Happy to see him dropped next week (acknowledging that he's not your answer as first ruck) if indeed you do go down that path.

Really? When was the last time Fraser carved any team up? I honestly can't remember, it's gotta be at least a few years back.

I thought Fraser looked lively when the ball actually went to him.

When we get our shit together (usually around round 10) I think he will surprise a few people.

Our midfield and forward entries were terrible. None of our forwards were ever going to dominate.

Why is everyone against Jack?

Honestly, what has he done wrong?

Think about such names that are playing AFL footy at the moment and consider their "form":

Kurt Tippett
Lachie Henderson
Scott Gumbleton
Michael Newton
Jackson Trengrove
Jack Riewoldt
Josh Kennedy/Ash Hansen

That's just a few players playing at the moment as forwards to compare to Jack.

It's not like our forward line has Brown/Fev or Buddy/Roughy currently in it.

When are people going to ****ing understand that Leroy Brown at FF won't cut it!

I agree with what your saying. The only reason didn't go for more changes is trying to keep as consistent a team as possible. I was probs a bit harsh on McCarthy, could have another shot so perhaps Toovey out instead. It is hard to make a decision on the kids like mccarthy/macaffer who have limited afl exposure, perhaps a couple of more games under their belt we would have a better idea on where they stand.

Look even though the past few games have been pretty disappointing in many areas and I have been pretty quick to criticise, I'd much rather lose a few games now and get ourselves sorted in terms of structure, players and form than at the end of the season. Ideally i'd want us to be in form and winning all the time but in reality, that is not going to happen.

Next week is another big test, lets see if we can do something different and take some risks.

B: Toovey - Prestigiacomo - Maxwell
HB: Shaw - O'Brien - Thomas
C: Didak - Swan - Wellingham
HF: Davis - Cloke - Beams
F: Lockyer - Dawes - Medhurst
FL: Jolly - Pendlebury - Ball
INT: Sidebottom - O'Bree - McCarthy - Fraser

After cooling off some...

Out: O'Bree, Macaffer, L Brown, Fraser
In: Anthony, Dawes, Shaw, Barham

Forward line needs some serious bite. Time to use the 3 tall setup with Cloke, Dawes and Anthony, might work, might not but something needs to be tried, kicking to an empty forward 50 doesn't seem to be working surprise, surprise. Frasers as useless as a bag of spuds, get him out of there until he can actually do something when he's forward. Pendlebury to do the inside work in O'Brees absence.

Barham in just because I like the kid and reckon he deserves a shot, no other reason than that.

The Essendon return match and against the doggies last year stand out.
Previous to that the 2 finals he played in.

I guess I value possessions around the ground linking the midfield far more than ruck taps.

Surely after our kicking at goal last week, WE HAVE TO BRING DAWES AND ANTHONY IN NOW.

Jack is a cert to play, as Dawes has worked his arse off in the past 3 VFL games, and showed yesterday he may be equal or even better then Jack when it comes to goal kicking accuracy.

One thing, Don't drop Cloke, he just hit some form, but he can play outside 50 as a true CHF while Dawes and Jack control the inside 50 region.

I don't care who gets dropped out of Fraser, MaCaffer, McCarthy, Lockyer or Leigh Brown, but 3 of these players have to come out for Shaw, Anthony and Dawes, or we will not beat Hawthorn.

Why would you drop Macaffer??
He was in the top dozen players for us against the saints many players to be dropped before him, are people confusing Mcarthy with Macaffer?

Because Macaffer is a forward and there's no room for him with Dawes and Anthony coming in. Macarthy had one bad game, but I reckon he can be much, much better than he was, give him another shot, it's a bit stiff to drop him after 1 bad game especially with Brown and Fraser spudding it up and getting selected week after week.

Changes for me:

OUT: Cloke, Maccaffer, McCarthy, O'Bree
IN: Dawes, Anthony, Shaw, Barham

All of the outs barring O'Bree deservedly so. I just think the game may have passed the great man in O'Bree.
