She's gonna rain on Friday in Adelaide. Hopefully they come to their senses and realise Cox can't play in the wet, and it's not like he was great last Friday, he took a few contested and that was it; he didn't hit the scoreboard.

Ideally:
OUT: Stephenson, Cox
IN: De Goey, Fasolo

B: Jeremy Howe - Lynden Dunn - Jack Crisp
HB: Sam Murray - Matthew Scharenberg - Brayden Maynard
C: Steele Sidebottom - Scott Pendlebury - Tom Phillips
HF: Will Hoskin-Elliott - Ben Reid - Jordan De Goey
F: Travis Varcoe - Alex Fasolo - Josh Thomas
R: Brodie Grundy - Adam Treloar - Taylor Adams
I: Callum Brown - Tom Langdon - James Aish - Ben Crocker

Wowee team looks better already.

Fasolo or Cox and if its wet 100% Fasolo. Even in the dry Fasolo.

I think Elliot surely is a chance. Moved fine in the VFL and 5 goals says he could be ready even for limited game time.

Agreed that if it is wet, Mason Cox should not play.

Go with a mobile forward line with Reid, De Goey, Fasolo and Elliott. That's pretty dangerous. Reid can assist as 2nd ruck, but Brodie will do 95% of it.

The wet would assist with our short defence.

if wet, it should be:

In: Elliott, Fasolo, De Goey
Out: Crocker, Stephenson, Cox

A 30% contested mark rate is considered good, which means that in the 2/3 contests Elliot and Fas don't win, we need them to apply pressure at ground level. Yes, go for your marks first, but you need to bring the heat at ground level in the (likely) event you don't clunk a mark.

I went to the VFL on Saturday and the most pleasing thing for me was seeing forwards present in the most dangerous spots and the on ballers lowering their eyes and hitting them on the chest.

That is the type of footy I like to see.......score board pressure trumps a player like a Stephenson every day of the week. By the way I am not having a go at Stephenson.

We can't make too many changes after a win, that's what I'm weary of because otherwise I'd dump Crocker for Elliott without blinking. Give Elliott another game in the seconds then bring him in for the big Anzac Day game.

I'm actually getting pretty excited at the prospect of having depth again. If Elliott, Moore and Wells return then we have three more current 22 players in the seconds fighting for spots. Daicos, Sier, McLarty, Wills, even Mayne and Blair - it's all looking pretty good at the moment.

Getting into good spots and having mids hit you up doesn't require being a great forward. Fas is a very clean one touch player, I understand he has talent, but you can't have weak defensive links in the chain or it comes out too easily and then opens up. Against a high quality team you need to be disciplined.

Yeah 2 weeks in a row for Treloar. Last season I was pushing for Treloar to go to half back but I like what he’s shown in a few forays forward this year. No good one out over head but he’s great when the ball hits the deck. That goal running around the GWS defence was memorable a fortnight ago

Treloar and Sidey just love kicking goals so much that not to play them forward is just a waste...

Crows supporters all going early with predictions of 40-70 point margins.

If there’s anything we learned from last year we don’t lie down to good sides.

Reckon we’re a sneaky chance of beating them. Giving us a chance in all of our next three actually.

In light of Countrypie thread I still haven't forgiven Langdon for that kick in the dying minutes in last years game.:p

Like it, but might need to bring in another tall KPD. Mihocek could be needed.

Out: Stephenson, Cox, Crocker

In: De Goey, Fasolo, Mihocek

I have looked at and read about so many possibilites, I now have no idea as to the ins/outs.

I definitely wanted Elliott in then read about saving him for the Dons and kinda agree. JDG a must and after viewing the replay, Cox, Crocker, Stephenson and Phillips all did some good things so who goes out? Of the others discussed - Fasolo, Blair's game and of course Mayne

A rare position to be in regarding team selection.

I think we can discount Blair and Mayne, but if they back up in the VFL with another strong performance, Bucks may be tempted to rely on them along with potentially Wills and Seir in that Essendon/Richmond stretch.

Interesting times abound.

JDG will have his fair share of forward time still. The way Treloar worked out down there was very positive.

If the talk about the supposed lack of forward half pressure is what is keeping Fasolo and Elliott from getting rushed back, are we going to get to the point where they both won't appear in the same side again?
I think the coaching staff will work that out eventually (if they haven’t already) as it’s pretty obvious to most of us. Problem is both are too good to have languishing in the magoos. Could see an end of year Fas trade if he’s willing.

At least tackle numbers from both were encouraging in the flogging of the Blues VFL. But then again, they were tackling witches hats.

Chris Mayne and Josh Daicos impress Magpies coach Nathan Buckley with VFL form

COLLINGWOOD coach Nathan Buckley has hailed maligned Pie Chris Mayne’s work in the VFL and says father-son Josh Daicos played his best game for the club at the level as he mulls over a number of selection “challenges”.
  • The Pies booted 31 goals in a 130-point win over the Northern Blues 31.15 (201) to 11.5 (71) and Bucks says a number of listed players have put their hands up for selection.

“After a game like that, the list is long, but not just because of a game like that, but because of the body of work that’s been put together,” Buckley said on SEN.
  • “Chris Mayne’s been excellent, Jarryd Blair’s been excellent.
  • “Rupert Wills came back in (and) gave us what he gives us, inside the contest clearances and tackles.

“Jordan De Goey and Jamie Elliott were very good, Alex Fasolo was very good again, so that’s two weeks that he’s put together.

“Josh Daicos had a breakout game, played his best game for the footy club at that level.”

Elliott, in his first game back from an ankle injury, booted five goals, while De Goey — dealing with hamstring and disciplinary issues — kicked four and Fasolo three.

Mayne — who crossed to the Pies at the end of 2016 on a four-year $2 million deal but played just three games last season — had leather poisoning with 34 disposals and two goals, while Daicos also kicked a couple and had 30 touches.

Buckley says the twos’ performance leaves the club in a strong position, but also gives him the challenge of rewarding players for effort.

“You can only fit 22 upstairs, each player’s time will come if they persist and if they continue to do the work to earn their improvement and to be ready to take their chance when the door becomes ajar,” he said.

“Matty Scharenberg was a long way off (six weeks ago), put a month of really good work in and earned his opportunity to come up and he hasn’t looked back. The last couple of games he’s been excellent.

“It’s a lot like life, you don’t know when your chances are going to come, but you’ve just got to be ready for them

“And we’ve got a group at the moment that are all wanting to contribute as best they can.”

Picked it! Daicos was great on Saturday!

Only problem with a win like that, if can call it a problem is every one looked good. If next week is a lot closer and still plays like he did then let’s get him into the seniors

No it was more than that, watched closely, really ran hard to the next contest, good evasive skills and barely made a mistake.

Agree with what you are saying, l just like to see the same when the game is tight and up for grabs. Those sort of games when they produce are alway a better indicator of how good the player really is.

Still don't agree with you. I mentioned in the game day thread that despite numerous shouts from the bench to come off, he was in the zone on Saturday.

Again agreeing with all of what you are saying, l just like him to repeat that effort under more pressure.

Not compared to the oppo. Nick Graham had 25 tackles.

Pretty amazing how quick the worm can turn sometimes.

2 weeks ago we were looking at our depth as pretty dire and struggling to suggest players to bring up to the seniors..

Nek minnit; we are struggling to work out how to fit them all in!

Bloody good problem to have.

Can Change from Week to Week
