IN: Rooke and Playfair.
OUT: Bartel and Mackie.

What he said.

If Bartel gets off, Rooke in for one of Byrnes or Kelly.

If Rooke doesn't come up, consider Tenace in for Byrnes or Kelly.

Possibly give H another week in the magoos as Mackie might be better suited to the fast track at Subi.

Byrnes deserves a game ahead of Tenace, but I wouldn't mind seeing Tenace come in for Krusty.

Rooke would replace Bartel, assuming he doesn't play.Harley would replace Spencer [obvious swap] and I'd like to see Blake get another crack.

Blake really impressed me, he should play next week and for a few more weeks afterwards.
I wouldnt drop byrnes as IMO he played really well.
Dont know about SJ tho as he looked really unfit.
Kelly or Mackie didnt look real flash and a long way from our best players.

I wouln't drop Shannon either (I'm one of his biggest fans) - but even I wouldn't say that he played really well!

Steve is injured - out for 3-4 weeks, accoing the the injury report. Meniscal tear in his knee.

Updated rehabilitation details for Geelong players as at 13 June 2006

This report is updated each Tuesday.
PLAYER INJURY TIMELINE
Steve Johnson Knee (miniscal tear) 3-4 weeks
Peter Riccardi Calf 1 week
Charlie Gardiner Ankle ligament strain test
Tim Sheringham Hamstring 1-2 weeks
Tom Harley AC joint 1 week
Jarad Rooke Foot Test

hmmm so.. maybe oh and bartel getting off.. so yeah..

In: King, Rooke
Out: Blake, S.Johnson

In : King Rooke
Out : S Johnson Mackie

I would play Ottens next to Nathan Ablett for support in marking contests.

I would play King and Blake as the ruckman.

I hope given King's history with soft-tissue injuries that they don't rush him back this week. Giving him this week off gives him an extra 2 weeks break because of the split round. Should be cherry ripe for Round 13.

I don't think he would make the world of difference this week anyway. Freo aren't super-strong in the ruck.

good point.. i think they should just stick with blake and ottens.. and bring in another midfielder to challenge there strong midfield..
but saying that, they have there own injury problems, with polak, bell and a couple of others under injury clouds!

if the cattas can pull of a victory.. god knows whats install for the rest of the year!!
hahaha

Yeah, and King's match fitness might not be up to scratch....on the other hand we desperately need some leadership for when Freo will make their drive, and King is the best source of it.

King does not provide onfield leadership.

Rooke, Mooney, Ablett, Scarlett and Chapman are first rate at leading from the front in that regard.

My thoughts for selection this week

In: King, Rooke, Tenace
Out: S. Johnson (injured), Mackie, Callan/Wojcinski (omitted)

Obviously these selections are subject to who is fit but I think that King would be a massive inclusion. As people have mentioned, keep Blake in and play King and Blake in the ruck with Ottens and N. Ablett in the goal square for the whole game (unless King and Blake really struggle, in which case Ottens in ruck, King to FF). Rooke is an automatic selection if fit and adds an extra dimesion whether it be in defence or in an attacking or defensive midfield role. I believe Tenace should be included for his pace on the large Subi oval. Tenace and Byrnes on the wings should use their pace on the rebound and pump the ball deep into Ottens and Ablett in the goal square with Chapman/Stokes/G. Ablett rotating between midfield and crumbing in the forward line. With Grover and Polak missing from the Freo defence, a forward set up like this should be able to kick a winning score, in theory. As for the omissions, S. Johnson speaks for itself. I thought Mackie was reasonable last week, but his disposal was still a bit suspect and a lot of his touches aren't too damaging. The third change is the toughest because each of Callan and Wojcinski have a case to play. Wojcinski has pace to burn on the open expanses of Subiaco, whilst Callan's commitment can hardly be faulted in the matches he has played since coming back, and playing him would no doubt continue his development. The other option is giving Kelly some time in the 2's, but he did show a bit in the 2nd half last week and will most likely hold his spot. Pretty long winded posting, but it is the first I have ever done!
Your thoughts?
