Agree Nightwolf: I'd have all of those 3 guys in our 22 (Lewis, Bateman and Dew) and would get priority over Morton Tuck and Ellis, but I think after a good win against Sydney, Clarkson wont make 3 changes to the side.

Will probably only bring 1-2 back in against the Saints.

1. To keep a settled winning lineup
2. Good excuse to get the guys the extra week to get fit if there is anything wrong.

However, on the flip side, might want to give them a run before we play Geelong the following week.

I'm not sure what is wrong with Lewis though, he may need an extra week regardless if he pulled a muscle against West Coast.

Our side is starting to get its aura back now we've got Sewell back in there. Sewell, Hodge and Mitchell give us great backbone in the middle. To have a win like that, and still have guys as good as Lewis and Bateman to come back in is really encouraging.

I'm pretty positive it will go:
IN's:
Bateman, Lewis and Dew
OUTS:
Morton (harsh), Tuck and Murphy/Rioli (but either doesn't deserve to)

I think its nearlly time for Crawf to retire as much as I love him, although if he can get over this knee tendonities keep him for another couple of years, I believe Lewis/Ellis will take Crawfords role when he retires.

X.Ellis can't be dropped he is already a year behind development wise and, for what hes worth (3rd national pick) he cannot afford to be rested as he is going to be a leader once Mitchell/Hodge/Sewell grow to old.

We got Stokes too who was named in Box Hills best.

Tough for anyone to get dropped on todays performance. No superstars, but everyone seemed to play their part. All the young ones did really well I thought. Tuck looked solid. Murphy too, and I like that he has a little agro about him.

I can only see Bateman coming back into the side.

It wouldnt hurt Lewis to have another weeks rest, or a run round at Box Hill.

As much as I like to see him out there, I just dont see the need for Dew to come in next week. Another one to have a run round at Box Hill.

While on the subject of ins, can people see this years forgotten man Ben McGlynn being able to force his way back into the side at some stage later this year? Injuries aside, I thought he would have a cracker of a year this year and it seems almost a write off. If he get fit, I think he would make a handy super-sub come finals time, or to replace Crawf at some stage.

Birchall's recent poor run has been solely due to the fact that he's getting tagged, which is a new experience for him. It started in the Essendon game when Monfries tagged him, and this week it was Kieren Jack. He'll learn how to adjust.

i think crawf has to play.

going into the geelong game, if crawf is playing his 300th, it will give the players something to focus on, rather than just 'playing geelong'.

A few players didnt see much of it, but were effecive when they did.

Thinking Ossie Laddo here.

Birch had a couple of shockers but picked up towards the end

you must've been sitting in the wrong stand, ozzie was one of our best and proved again why he is our most improved player this year with his step up in run, disposal, anticipation and hardness

Copped a thigh injury on his return (4 week suspension) playing for Box Hill. He should be close to playing for BH next week and will be back in the seniors in 3-4 weeks. His run and hardness is what the coaching dept like about him and see him in our best 22.

4 day break, me finks there will be changes.;)

Crawf will be rested.

In line for selection wil be

Bateman, Dew & Stokes...

Lewis may be a couple of weeks away.

Benny Mac available this week aswell.

Regardless of the team we field we'll smash the Saints by 10+ goals...there is not a snow flakes chance in hell they can contain our forwards...it's going to be ugly...we made the swannies Team and defence look second rate.

Willo, Rioli & Buddy are far too quick for any opposition..Ozzy & Ruff provide the grunt, with a resting on baller....Hawks far far too good...

Hawks easy this week and next.
P.s....Get on the Hawks for the flag NOW, we'll be odds on after we smash Geelong next week...

I'm feeling pretty lukewarm on the idea of dropping murph for Dew.

I've been a big fan of Dewy, but Murph isn't just playing well for a youngster, he's playing genuine, top-line footy.

If Dew comes in I'd want him to kick at least 2 goals from outside 50 and squash Milne in HUUUUGE bump.

Bateman to come in for sure and I think it's Tucky that'll get the chop. I think Morts has exceeded expectations and is now in the Ellis/Rioli status of "young player we'll keep in the firsts and develop".

Tucky is a grunt-gun, but I think Morts is filling a role in Lewis' absence and could be a future tagger (which we probably need.)

TD, that's very juicy stuff should a cat be lurking around these parts if they get up and have a win next week...

No Idea who comes in but for mine, barring injury, only outs could possibly be:

Morton
Tuck
Murphy
Crawford

(I think thats all) Noone else will be omitted for no reason especially Birchall, Ozzie and Laddo!

I'm pretty much in line with your thinking.

Murphy and Young definitely had much improved games on the weekend. I just wish Murphy would go a little harder at the ball at times.

Would love to see Stokes get a run again. Perhaps a swap with Cyril before finals would work, although his tackling across half forward was 1st class.

Bateman's run will be much needed against Geelong.

I'd say, at this stage, it'll probably be:

In: Bateman, Lewis
Out: Crawford (rested), Tuck

If Dew's fully fit, someone will probably have to make way for him, too...

Ins: Bateman, Lewis
Outs: Crawford (inj.), Tuck

They are like-for-like, but it depends if the selection committee sees a role for Morton next week. He's played 7 games in a row (the split round giving him a week off) and it might be time for him to be rested.

Can people seriously think about what they post, before posting it. Not saying i know it all, but for the people suggesting that players like Birchall, Ossie or Laddo get dropped, please watch a game or two before looking like a tool!

FWIW, I think if Lewis & Dew are fit, they will play 1's. If not, they will not play at all. Neither will play at Box Hill. My suggestion would be...

Ins
Bateman - Lewis - Dew
Outs
Crawford - Morton - Tuck

Crawford to have a rest with his knee, particulary with us playing on the harder surface of the Dome. I think that it would be an obvious omission given his knee tendanitis. Morton & Tuck, although being very good when playing, are playing due to injuries and suspensions. They are not (yet) in our best 22, and therefore will not play this week, again only if Lewis & Dew are fit.

Anyways, thats my opinion, may not be right, but again, please just watch some footy before posting crap!

Have to agree with you here, must be a school holidays thing.

Bookmarked :)

will be a massive test for st kilda i think, see if these recent wins have been of any substance

I'm not expecting a win, but a 10 goals flogging would be a surprise - the cats only rolled us by 7 goals (allbeit in a 20 min flurry) when we were worse than what we are now..

Who gets Riewoldt and Kosi?

🥰 Love BigFooty? Join now for free.

Croad to take Kosi. Campbell Brown to run with Riewoldt and let him take marks up on the wing

Let him take marks? Or be beaten by?? No player would want to 'let' riewodlt take his marks, he will cut you up..

Where does croad go when kosi moves into the ruck?

Double team Roo or head to allen??

FYI IMO Fish onto Franklin, Max onto Roughie

Bateman is an auto in. replace -Crawf's got to be rested.
If Lewis is fit bring him in for Tuck (unlucky)

Dew's got to earn his spot and prove his fitness. Has'nt done much since his Hammy and we're not as desperate as we were. Must get fit for the finals:thumbsu:

........Dew's got to earn his spot and prove his fitness....

I agree he should but I dont think this rule applies to Dew. It hasn't so far.

I like Tuck. I like the way he plays. I like his attack on the ball and the man. Tucky needs more game time so I hope we dont drop him. Nearly the same could be said about Morto.

The saints and swannies play a similar one on one style. You need guys with low down grunt. Tucky has it in spades.

Probably Crawf out/Changa in. Lewis and Dew should also be fit. It is easy to sit back and say drop the kids. Murph had a good game so he cant/should not go. Birch is hesitant. He is not running as hard as he can and he needs to get his confidence back prior to the finals. We have dropped Roughie and Buddy. They did not collapse, it helped them.

Out: Crawf (the rest won't hurt) Tuck or Morton (toss up) Either would be unlucky and I would like both to stay to keep up their dev't. But....the two incoming players, if fit, are automatic selections. Murphy is the only other one who would be very stiff if dropped. I think he should stay in coz i think he is regaining the momentum he had prior to the huge courageous knock he copped vs North earlier this year. He is clearly gaining fitness and confidence.

In: Bateman, Lewis (assuming both are 100%. If any doubts, give them another week.)

For those questioning Ossie and Ladson, C'mon, you can't be serious. These guys are vital to our game plan. Ossie, in particular, is a reformed soldier. He does the hard stuff but has really cut down on the stupid stuff. He's also realised that he's a good player, can kick goals and add great defensive pressure to the fwd line. BIG TICK. Not even a query over him being in the best 22.
