How does Cockies, WAFL performance warrent selection. Pretty typical response, Swift is a future mainstay in the midfield and Cockie is a future fringe player and current Rookie.

Cockie has experience and is tough but he is as slow as they come, Just watch the match against Port.

We need some pace against the bombers other wise it will be embarrassing.

In McKenzie, Ash Smith, Ryan Davis, Nicko

We need to lose another tall as we are way to big unfortunately though they have been our best players.

i couldnt give a flying f#ck who we bring in but if i see hansen frollock around the footy field like a lost cornflake again im gonna shoot myself

I thought Butler was ok today. You cant say he doesn't get enough as a midfielder because he hasn't played in the midfield the last 3 weeks. If you say he is no good as a defender than that is fair enough and he should be dropped for his defensive work. I thought his spoils and defensive pressure was pretty good. If there is a better defensive option then maybe he should be dropped. I guess the other options are Brett Jones, Stenglein, Ryan Davis, Nicoski.

Sorry to say guys but you can pencil this one in for a win.

My friend and I are coming across for the match and she's been to 13 interstate trips with me and NEVER seen a win.

The way we played yesterday was nothing short of PUTRID so I'd say a 5-8 goal win to you guys is coming up.

"Sorry" probably isn't the word you should say when you've already conceded the match but I guess it all depends how badly you want those better picks.

Pretty sure Woosha said in his press conference that although it was pleasing that Wilson has been doing well in the WAFL, he wouldn't add much to the team in terms of improving our accuracy.

Not sure what to make of the comment.

Woosha burying his head in the sand again is what it means.

Dont worry too much, we have refined the art of playing teams into form this year. You should be OK!

Oh, and have you got anyone eligable for the Rising Star? If so, they will get a nom this week!;)

Callum Wilson will get his game this week it seems.... unfortunately looks like Shuey is completely done for this year.

West Coast rookie Callum Wilson has a chance to make his AFL debut against Essendon on Sunday as coach John Worsfold looks to fix the Eagles' goal-kicking woes.

Worsfold said the club was looking to place youngster Luke Shuey (fractured leg) on the long-term injury list in order to elevate Wilson onto the senior list.

Good god you go on. For the benefit of the board, do you just want to spit out the back story to your genuine Woosh hatred?

Its not just about his coaching, its in general, you don't like the bloke... why?

On the topic, he was JOKING re Wilson's kicking as anyone who saw the interview would have seen. But the resident Thornlie bogan can't see past his huge Woosh sized chip on his shoulder.

Not necessarily. It just means he is in contention to get a game, this year. The Eagles have until they name their team for this round to add players to the LTI list, thus the last opportunity to elevate Callum Wilson for the year. I'd like to see him given a run, though.

As of Thursday night, no additional players can be added to the LTI list.

Having read the article, I wouldn't say it is certain to happen.

No, its also not certain that the sun will come up tomorrow but based on past events IT SEEMS likely .....

West Coast rarely (ever??) have elevated a rookie during the season and then not played them the week of their elevation. I take your point re the Round 18 rule but given our past, given the shite output forward from Hansen and Lynch, I would have thought it seemed likely that he would play....

That's a fairly arrogant comment to make, especially considering you followed it up with a comment that validated my query about the scenario.

I think Hansen is being played to increase his trade value TBH. Dropping him, and bringing in a rookie, wouldn't help that too much I wouldn't have thought.

It will be interesting to see if Lynch gets left out. Woosha said that a player that looks to be playing good football is going against team structures and will miss out. Lynchy's been bombing it to nobody for a few weeks now, it could be him.

Arrogance is my trademark. :p

Agree on Hansen. Although I am torn on whether his value is being increased by the continued exposure of his lack of athleticism and his general clumsiness ..... but I do get why they might be playing him.

Lynch is an interesting one. I started suggesting his spot was in doubt a few weeks back. He is currently playing as a back up ruckman in a team with 3 rucks and as a spot forward who rarely threatens a goal and a pseudo mid who, as you say, bombs it to no-one. Also on the weekend, he had an annoying tendency to mark the ball and stop.... when players were running past for handballs, he just stopped and went back for his kick, allowing Freo to get men back and force him to bomb to a contest .... I remain unsure what Lynch's future is and perhaps he could get the axe - that said, I still think he gives more than Hansen .....

In general though we need a more athletic forward line and we need some pace.... if Wilson can mark and kick thats great but its also as important that he can contest when the ball hits the ground and not get run off all day ....

No friggin way. McKinley has one good game and you want him back in the 22? Hes the laziest footballer I've seen and unless he changes this hes not coming back in imo.

... and according to swannies he was pretty poor on the weekend but he benefited from some slack defending by Peel.

As swannies points out, the goal kicking ability is there, but he just doesnt seem prepared to do the work required.

Probably will work a lot harder next year when he is playing in Melbourne after we trade him.

It raises the question, who had a better game? A player who kicks 5 goals straight or a player that kicked 5 goals 6 behinds.

Given the direction our season is now headed, I think there is more to be gained by giving Wilson the opportunity to show us what he has to offer. I don't think it would hurt McKinley to have to earn his spot a little more, either.

out: Lynch, Butler, Spangher
In: Wilson, Fletcher, McKenzie

Why?
Want to see Wilson play, Fletcher to provide an older body around Swift, Masten & Ebert and McKenzie cause I like him...
Butler and Spangher are increasingly unlikely to figure in our best 22, while Lynch just plain shits me.

From a tactical point of view, i don't really care about the ins & outs.

woosh gave the strongest indication the other day that having hansen and kennedy in the same forward line just isnt going to work, and we all know who his preffered forward is at the moment. his comments about putting wilson in the square to lead up and use his marking ability was about the smartest move he's hinted at doing all year. lets just hope he actually does it and doest try and fit em all in like he usually does.

in - wilson, mckinley
out - hansen, spangher

mckinley is 10 times more mobile than hansen, not to mention 10cm shorter.

Unfortunately, McKinley is the size of a small forward and has the mobility of a slowish tall. Certainly he is more athletic than Hansen but so are most of Madame Tussauds best works.... he remains a FF trapped in a small forwards body and unlike a player like, say, Russell Robertson, he doesnt have the explosive marking or any other freakish skills to offset his deficiences ... he runs the risk at present of being a David Haynes type tweener who never really makes it.

Its annoying because he has natural goal sense but he needs to be able to play a flanker type role which will involve having opponents who run all day and set up attacks and his effort against Melbournes Grimes showed that he either doesnt have the fitness or work ethic to play that role consistently ....

I suspect he has some real trade value though ....
