The way they are named the forward line is back to JW's land of the giants.
In u18 carnival I mistaked Waterman for Powell Pepper at times cos Waterman is pretty quick and can contest at ground level. Obviously a tad taller and a better mark he can play wing easy.

Duggan should consider himself lucky, because on form, he should really be fronting up for east Perth this weekend.

I think the kid has potential, but at the moment he is providing the side with very little

Duggan in seems like Simpson is intent on playing the youf wherever feasible.
Simmo and the MC definitely earmark the youf they want to fast track though.

Nelson and Duggan are no younger than the alternatives we have at EP (except Hutchings), so it’s not like we are prioritising youth over senior blokes.

Awesome and about time.
Should have started 4 years ago

Fair to say he thought he had a list that was going places. Now he realises it's not he's making the necessary changes. Can't ask for more than that.

Yep, that's what I meant by feasible. Depends on the senior blokes too I guess.

To me its clear they want to keep yeo in the middle as much as possible, which can only occur if we play a 7th defender (jetta, hurn, shep, nelson, barrass, gov already in).

To me there is only one other person who is really pushing to take duggo’s spot as that 7th defender atm, and thats cole. Happy to back in duggo for a couple more weeks first

Happy with the team. Just hope throughout the year we can find a slot in the team to give each of our youuuuuuuth a stint of 3-4 games each. Not all at once of course. But would be noice to give each of them a taste for their toils in the WAFL. Brander, Ainsworth, Parto, Mutimer, Watson, etc. all deserve at some point (if their form justifies it) to get a few games each. That means every 3 weeks we should be debuting one of them to fit them all into the H&A season. Tough to manage given our plethora of extremely talented players like Masto and Hutchings and Schofield and so on also fighting for the same spot in the team which tends to come down to matchups. I think it's pretty easy to manage though if the MC actually rest a few of our injured players throughout the season. E.g. last weekend McGovern didn't look quite right. If he IS carrying something, why not give him a rest for the MCG game, so we can fit in someone etc. I know it's stupid to go on and on about it, but last year we could have quite easily rested Lecras a bit more often given he was actually suffering, rather than making us all bag the shit out of him because the MC wouldn't be honest that he was playing with a pretty bad niggle. Don't want to see the same thing repeated this season. Cole could have easily come in to cover for McGovern getting a rest if he needs it.

Cole easily cover for Mcgovern?

Does not compute.

Simpson I have no time time for you when you name Masten on a HFF, he is not a HFF's arseh*le and blind Freddy knows that. How long must this persist!
Last week Rioli kicks across his body from 40m, it's going to roll through we're well in front and Masten marks, but plays on and snaps, it gets ruled touched (falsely by the umps) if he was a natural forward he would have had some awareness of the situation and it would have resulted in a goal.
He is a champion 5000m runner and an average footballer, shit decision to name him, I would prefer so many others.

I'm not saying he covers at all. I'm saying we need to find a way to slot these guys into the side. And not to repeat the same mistakes of last season of playing injured players. If McGovern is 100% then fine play him. He didn't look 100% last w/e. Watching him closely this weekend too. A good team has 30 players all fighting to be in that 22. We maybe have 25 players that are in the 22 regularly. And a bunch of players that need more AFL experience to eventually become part of that same "vying to be in the 22" rather than just "oh yeah he's on our list developing in the WAFL".

Is Duggan the player to hate on for the week? Keep playing him.

Duggan back means Yeo play midfield which you might of seen - helps us win games. I'm definitely team Cole over Nelson but I wouldn't want Cole over Duggan as it would mess with our structure too much. No way could you play Hurn, Shep, Nelson and Cole as lock downs.

Loving Waterman staying in the team. Eventually just need Nelson/Masten out for Cole/Ainsworth and I'll be happy - no rush as neither of the previously mentioned have been too bad.

Like Nick Reiwoldt in the grand final?

Or Joe Daniher handballing to Green's bootlaces?

Or any number of times JK / Darling have overused the ball handballing in the goal square?

I agree Masten made a shit decision, but that's nothing to do with being a forward or anything like that. They should implement team fines for anyone who handballs or plays on from that position, it's poor football and our team is always guilty of trying too hard to be unselfish (hence the need for players like Ryan who backs himself to do kick the ****ing goal).

Even Venables last quarter give over the top to Sheed against Gelong was a stupid decision, it didn't back fire but it so easily could have and is unnecessary.

On a side note, you do realise he's actually contributed quite well this season?

Happy to see JK back.
Otherwise expected changes.
Good to see Waterman keeping his spot, I think it's worthwhile trialling a 3 tall forward setup against the Suns at home, and maybe vs the Blues next week as well, it's probably a lower risk considering the opposition. With his mobility, it shouldn't be a huge issue.

Waterman is going to be leading high up the wings I'd guess.

A bit worried about our height in the forwardline. I suppose this is a good test for the set-up. If it doesn't work then we can drop waterman.

Play Waterman off a wing, rest deep.

Really think he would kill it off the wing with a couple more preseasons.

Kennedy closer to goals, JD roaming chf and if he or JK need a rest Waterman can rotate through.

Just dont get him to bulk up too much.

Doesn’t really need to. At 191 cm you’re not going to need to win too many wrestles - should be focusing on being as nimble as possible.

Also on fixing that kicking action
