As much as i don't think we need to ring in the changes, we might be forced to through injuries and suspensions

H.Shaw and Johnson may be forced out, whilst there are many under performing players and many youngsters on the outer who have claims to get into the side.

Thoughts???

Ins: Rocca, Stanley, Toovey
Outs: Dick, Shaw (susp), Johnson (inj)

We need Leigh Brown as depth against Brown, Bradshaw, Clark.

Toovey can make up the defensive loss of Shaw and Johnno.

And Stanley just deserves a bloody game.

I'd love to see Barham or Sidebottom get a game, but I doubt it.

Whats the deal with Wellingham and Macarthy?

Out of favour, bad form?

I like these 2 blokes, and they seem to have gone from the radar - even in big footy selection discussion

Out:
Dick, Johnson, Shaw

In:
Sidebottom, McCather, Stanley

and possible Rocca in, L Brown out.

McCarthy had an injury interrupted pre season, and Wellingham just had a poor pre season form wise. Both will play games this year, but probably not for a few weeks yet.

B: Shaw Prestigiacomo Clarke
HB: Cox Brown O'Brien
C: Maxwell Pendlebury Didak
HF: Lockyer Cloke Medhurst
F: Anthony Rocca Davis
Foll: Fraser Thomas Swan
I/C: Brown O'Bree Beams Bryan
Emg: Corrie Reid Toovey

In: Rocca Bryan
Out: Dick Johnson

With commentary:

Round 4 Collingwood vs. Brisbane

B: Shaw (just play tight and be patient work back into form) Prestigiacomo (take Bradshaw) Clarke (works hard/kicks straight)
HB: Cox (good start to 09/handball more/kick less but keep running hard) Brown (big big assignment on Jonathon Brown) O'Brien (needs to help Brown big time)
C: Maxwell (help out across backline and maybe drift forward as good goalkicker) Pendlebury (smooth linkman, not in and under as some have demanded) Didak (work hard between half back and half forward)
HF: Lockyer (fair start to 09 needs to work hard and kick 2-3 goals) Cloke (needs to lead up the middle more often and needs a small man at his feet) Medhurst (create havoc, work hard chase tackle the goals will come)
F: Anthony (will be great as 2nd/3rd tall forward) Rocca (one out in square) Davis (is not the A grade midfielder we had hoped, crumb hard)
Foll: Fraser (great start to 09 - should slaughter Luenberger) Thomas (needs to work hard as well as flashy) Swan (usual 30+ possessions but Power and Black will be a big challenge)
I/C: Brown (swingman, did enough to earn sport in Round 3, could try on Jonathon Brown if needed), O'Bree (usually plays well against Brisbane) Beams (a superb find, but lets not run him into the ground) Bryan (need a backup for Fraser and he is a better pick than Wood)
Emg: Corrie (against old team) Reid (Nathan Brown's ready replacement if form drops) Toovey (great start to 09, I have always been skeptical but he looks taller/fitter/smarter),

In: Rocca (needs to take pressure off Cloke and Anthony) Bryan (need a backup for Fraser)
Out: Dick (not ready/too light/too similar), Johnson (injured)

Thoughts?

I'll wait until after the VFL tomorrow, quite a few of the candidates are named to play - Rocca, McCarthy, Sidebottom, Barham, Stanley, Cook, Wellingham etc.

Tell you after the VFL Game to see who plays well

Out Johnson (inj) Shaw (inj/suspension) Dick(poor)
In barham/sidebottom Stanley Rocca

Leigh brown stays in as cover at either end and ruck

Stanley to play midfield and allows dale/tarks to play a more hbf/wing role of johnno

barham/sidebottom to play HBF, HFF and mid inter chainging with who ever replaces johnnos role directly

Rocca takes a defender away from cloke so he only has to handle one or 2 and not an entire defensive unit

IN: Dawes, Bryan, Stanley, Reid
OUT: L.Brown, Shaw (If Inj or sus), Johnson, Dick

B: Clarke, Brown, Presti
HB: O'Brien, Reid, O'Bree
C: Thomas, Swan, Lockyer
HF: Medhurst, Cloke, Didak
F: Dawes, Anthony, Davis

R: Fraser, Pendlebury, Beams
I: Maxwell, Cox, Stanley,Bryan

E: Sidebottom, McCarthy, Goldsack

Dnine you have dropped 3 runners for 3 talls, and a clearance mid not an outside one which are the ones missing

In: Rocca, Stanley, Sidebottom, Barham
Out: Johnson (inj), Shaw (inj/suspended), Dick, L.Brown

With Shaw and Jonno out, we lack run from defence so Barham or maybe Corrie should come in (Corrie knows the GABBA so could be handy)

L Brown played well but blew his chance by missing so many goals. He was doing Rocca's job...so hopefully Rocca can come in and do it better.

Stanley and Sidebottom for some toughness in the midfield.

Will have to keep an eye on Brisbane...they are only playing 1 ruck this week. Charman was dropped. So if they go in with only Leunberger next week I'd go in with just Josh.

I'm not sure bringing Rocca in against Brisbane is a great idea. He's got a total of 6 goals from the last 5 matches against them, and Merrett is as good a match-up for him as anyone.

Give him one more week in the twos for confidence, and this way he won't have to travel either, then let him rip on ANZAC day against a crappy Essendon defense.

In case you were not sure, with other posts, I want Collingwood to trust in our key position players, and not play boundary line football, hence the reason why I would select as selected. With Malthouses plan, I would bring

IN: Cook, Stanley, Barham, Sidebottom, McCarthy
OUT: H.Shaw, Johnson, Dick, L.Brown, Cox

Maybe Leigh Browns goal saved him for MM's plan though, so Sidebottom would have to wait another week.

Just wanted to say though, I liked Cox, and his 94 points in SC says that he done alright, but knowing Mad Malty, he is a goner, just because.

He would've got 200 if it wasnt for all the bloody clanger kicks

as long as toovey doesnt come back in, i'll be happy. Leigh brown was alright so he deserves another week but he still looks like a dud

In - Rocca, Stanley

Out - Johnson, Shaw

I'm happy to leave Dick in. Don't think we need too many changes.

Save Sidebottom for Anzac Day.

In- Rocca, Corrie, Goldsack
Out- Dick, Johnson, Shaw

Dick isn't ready for AFL physically, Corrie should be able to play Johnsons role, and Goldsack(If shaw is unavailable) to balance the offense/defense in the back line

Actually I do not mind who comes in but I just hope that the players elevated into the AFL team get their places on the basis of form and not reputation!
