It's a shame that we don't have 1, let alone 2 good quality spin bowlers. If we did I would be really comfortable playing Wade at 6, Faulkner at 7, 2 spinners and Hazelwood and Starc. Shame Agar was injured - I might've even been comfortable with Wade at 6, Faulkner 7 and Agar 8 (then 3 quicks).

That said, Whiteman's batting form is well-timed. I think he might be a little stiff that he doesn't even seem in consideration.

If Agars bowling does come on like we'd hope, I think he'd make a good number 7. Already a much better bat than Faulkner.

I don't think Wade is a number 6 though, he is a very handy bat in terms of a keeper but not a top 6 bat.

Plenty of talk on the radio that Maddinson may have been give the nod for a test spot? That is a strange decision if true. I'd have Patterson miles ahead of him and than even Lehman before him.

If we're looking to change the third paceman (which I doubt we will, if Mennie has been rested from Shield), what puts Jackson Bird ahead of Chris Tremain at the moment?

Tremain has been good recently, but I'd still have Bird and Sayers (possibly Behrendorff too) ahead of him. Bird has been decent for a while now at Shield level and Sayers first class matches this year have been great

He did just get Smith (twice) and Warner as well as Maddinson so thart's got to say something. I'd have Bird ahead of him though who has a very good rest record.

I have no problem with those decisions. It's the talk of Maddinson after averaging 30 last year that worries me.

Mennie is another Hastings. Not up to test cricket. Bird has a good test record and should have got the gig to start with except for his batting apparently.

As for Ferguson. Yes he's only had one test but his last 3 first class games have been woeful, I don't think he's get to double figures.
