This will be Michael Beer's first ever game at the SCG.

He's gone from being in the squad at the WACA because of 'home ground advantage' to debuting at a place he's never even been before.

Silly isn't it? I just can't understand what Hauritz has done wrong. Sure he didn't bowl well in India, but he deserves another chance. I just don't get it.

Absolute disgrace that Beer is going to get a baggy green, whilst one of the best ever batsmen in the Sheffield Shield in David Hussey isn't, amongst others.

Somebody had to pay the price for pontings captaincy in india and the struggles of our senior quick's and batsmen, it sure as hell wasn't going to be ponting or north ect.

Haurtiz was the perfect fall guy to take the pressure off and allow the other under performers to squeak their way into the gabba test.

 Hussey is a good bad and one of the best going around at the moment but in all term times he wouldn't make the Victorian 4th XI.

Beer's selection also has nothing to do with Hussey either.

hilditch and co are amongst us, surely. hauritz marked never to play again... seen plenty of times here. i wonder if those who thought that ever envisaged things going this way instead.

or, it's strange that they try and look for the new big spin thing while hanging on to someone like north. i can understand looking to blood fresh new talent, but then north's lingering time in the team is a mystery. i think north had a few more batting failures than hauritz had bowling.

wonder what will happen in the odi's... doherty could be back in the side by then.

IMO you should play your best two batsmen at 3 and 4 (Amla & Kallis, Dravid & SRT, Trott & KP, Sanga and Jayawardene, you get the point). Our two best would be Hussey and Watson but seeing as we've not named any other openers, Watto will have to open. I'd like to see him at 3 in the future.

Hughes
Watson
Hussey
Clarke (c)
Khawaja
Haddin
Smith
Johnson
Siddle
Beer
Bollinger

Not a great lineup sadly. :(

It's not a mystery at all. Hilditch said a couple of months ago that they wanted North to be a replacement old barsteward for when all the other old barstewards - Punter, Kat and Hussey - threw in towel.
