HH - at this stage needs to be played as a forward w very occasional rotations into the middle so not sure he’ll play until we rest one of our small forwards

Moore should have played on Larkey from the start. Best defender on best forward. We finally moved him on after Larkey’s 5th goal. Too late! It was a rare case of poor match-day coaching from Fly, Leppa and Co.

I thought it was good coaching. Larkey was always going to kick goals, the trade off was Moore’s intercept work and dominance. I think we gained more than we lost.

If Frampton is healthy, I think the changes are very straight forward to the starting 22.

In: Frampton, Hoskin-Elliott
Out: Markov, Sidebottom

Markov plays as the sub. If Frampton is not fit and ready, Markov stays in the 22 and you play any one of: Carmichael, Macrae, Bianco, Allen as the sub.

I like this. But play him in the starting 22.

Adams or markov to be the nominated sub this week, in line with Flys clear strategy to rotate the position and not use it as a stepping stone to purgatory.

Depending how Ed goes he can be subbed off if needed

None of them are easy. Not even next week…. We aren’t resting players against the team we couldn’t beat at home last year to bring in players who are on a losing streak in the VFL.

Moore should be taking the most dangerous opposition forward. He did last week with Curnow & should have been on Larkey from he first bounce.

Scoreboard says we did.

Collectively we were the better side and rightly won the game. But an opposition key forward taking eight marks and kicking 5.2 while our best defender was minding someone far less dangerous pretty clearly suggests that we got the match up wrong.

Why so defensive about acknowledging it? I’m not saying they’re bad coaches. They’re fantastic coaches! But even the best make mistakes from time to time.

I still think we sort of manage players in games rather than resting them. We don't want moore all banged up before the mid way point of the season. Frampton should be back this week and that will ease the load on Moore even more.
