I don’t see the point in playing both Adams and Mitchell and then having one of them not in the centre working clearances

Pick one and then bring in a quick like Harrison for the additional run and carry

Pies looked slow last night
Adams has contributed goals and assists when not in the centre.
So the structure was working well.
Titch dropping form and showing fatigue is the issue.

I don't think either of them is in danger of being omitted. I just think Noble is more at risk at the moment. Their form lines are heading in opposite directions.
Markov has him on turnovers and efficiency. He’s actually a pretty good ball user.

Noble shouldn’t be going anywhere. Neither should Markov.

Frampton for the gorillas (playing on the likes of Curnow is such a waste of Darcy Moore’s elite attributes), with Howe moving forward (or out for Johnson) makes sense to me.

Agree, the worrying thing for me is the faith Fly has in certain players.
Yes you back your guys in but there needs to be a time where they are accountable for what they bring and that means going back to the twos and rewarding guys on fire in the VFL.
This is not happening, And my fear is it will cost us.
Fly hinted at change last night however it shouldn’t come off the back of a loss, we are not going as well as we think.
It’s a nice story to be the “comeback kings” but really good sides don’t need to mount a comeback every week, they have usually smashed teams by 3/4 time.
It’s a myth that really good teams ie flag winners have always smashed teams by 3/4 time in their flag years.

If the selection committee choose to keep Lipinski in the team I can live with that. I was literally the first person in this thread to suggest he comes out but in the same thread have been cutting the team slack on the basis that they'd be flat after the Port game interstate with a 6 day break.

Lippa was in our top two for km travelled last week and again this week.

My only query is whether we need to adjust his role? Is he running too much that he just looks slow and tired when he does get it? He's slowly morphing into Trent Bianco at this rate. He's never going to be Isaac Smith, either.

We need him to be that I50 player as much as possible.
Fly has continually said publicly Lippa is our best runner - and you’re right it’s just a question of how we best exploit this strength. You don’t drop guys with that skill easily.

That's not gifted to them, they earn it.

Nick will be tagged for the rest of the year now. Noble is a long way off being dropped. We had a bad night, players were down and it's a very long season.
I think the boys were a bit flat after the blockbuster 1v 2 game last week and coming off a 6 day break. Pressure rating was well down and we were badly beaten in contested possessions. Missing a few sitters too didn’t help. Lacked speed around the ground and run from the backline.
But even though it hurts to load to the Blues, fact is we’re still in top of the ladder and a loss now isn’t going to hurt us too much imo. Might even sharpen up the focus and the hunger a bit. Only our 3rd loss for the year and they’ll take some learnings out of that match.
Cox has been poor for a few weeks and might need a run in the twos. I’d be bringing in Frampton to play defence and a bit of ruck instead of Cox. Provides greater flexibility and frees up Darcy Moore a bit too. Either continue with Howe forward or bring back AJ as a third tall. Bobby Hill’s speed, pressure and brilliance was missed last night too. Will be a handy addition next week
For mine
Out : Cox, Lipinski, WHE
In : Frampton, Hill, AJ

If we are the real deal, we should learn a hell of a lot and have no excuse for not going all the way.

I think you also need to look at how they're playing and the impact they're having rather than rely on stats. Noble was credited with 22 disposals last night, 18 effective, but 2x clangers and 6x turnovers (not sure how that equates to 18 effective) don't even come close to describing how poor his 18 effective disposals were. And that's not even looking at how poor he was defensively.
I’m going to remember this next time you pull a footy wire compare up.

I’m going to remember this next time you pull a footy wire compare up.

When I do, I generally add some context, but happy for you to take me to task when I don't. We all need to do better.

I think a Noble v Markov comparison is also a little skewed by Markov's early season form where his ball use was atrocious and he gave us so little run. He's been a different player since the GC game. And I've been one of his biggest critics.

Out: Cox
In: Hill

I think that will be it. The coaches don't make wholesale changes at the moment.

But I think Mitchell and Markov might be on the fringe now. Mitchell has looked slow and old for a few weeks and his role is as an inside mid. But he isn't doing it well at all.

So if he were to make way, maybe we'd see Johnson come in or Frampton. But he won't make way -- he just needs to get back to his early season form.

I'll wait till after the VFL game for my changes but Lipinski should come out. Mason was very disappointing tonight, like quite a few others.

Checkers was in career best form while McStay was out of the side but has been poor since his return. Need to see what that forward line looks like with Johnson there too.
He had 36% game time. Hard to impact without continuity, in case if the coaches don’t think he’s necessary bring a small in. I think Macrae would have helped with the contested ball issue last night, given he’s injured I’d be bringing the next best. Maybe Ginivan to play forward and Elliot on ball if Howe is playing forward next week as well.

Lippa needs some time in the VFL, I’d be up for giving the west Australian a go, forget his name.

Mitchell should be rested I think he’ll be carrying something. Markov did some good things mixed with some bad things as well, his role is to take risks so I guess that will happen. The blues pressure was immense.

Big shame Macrae is now out, would have been great for him to come in.

It's a portmanteau of 'brain surgeon' and 'rocket scientist' but used in a tongue in cheek manner to refer to people who think they're big-brained geniuses but are actually clueless.
Well seeing as I did not know what portmanteau was, I can safely assume I'm not in the big brain genius category. Although I have had many previous confirmations of this in my life already.

Totally agree.

Team selection and in game coaching has been a worry for me for sometime.

Hill out and no like for like?

Our setup at start of the game was concerning and at one time Mitchell on Cripps. Crisp on wing. Howe on Motlop?

NDaicos not moved back?

Not sure that Lipinski is in our best 22, would have started WHE.

Concerns around Mihocek and Cox and even though some thought that Cameron rucked well it was a cringe watching him tap directly into a Carlton player hands in the last quarter.
