When this round is complete we’ll be in 14th spot on the Ladder with a road trip to face WCoast in Perth to come.

This season is turning very ugly, very fast.

It'd be cruel to bring in any of the kids to play against Wet Toast over there.

May as well just persist with the usual suspects.

Our gameplan is the main issue, and I think we should really change positions around for some players. It's just the same old tired gameplan and structure week in and week out, and now our famed back 6 got their pants pulled down tonight. Something's gotta change.

Come on we know what the changes will be, something like Cameron in and Greenwood to the actual side with the injured players out, that’s it. No way our selectors will be bold. I can see all the usual suspects playing and being crushed by the WCE. It would have been nice to get some coverage of the VFL so we’d know who played well. Nope Collingwood media don’t do that.

Cruel, but a good learning curve. This year now should be a year fully focusing on fast tracking the development of the youth on the list.
After last nights p weak effort from the "usual suspects" time has come to play the kids. I would rather see a 6 to 7 goal loss with some kids trying, and at the same time learning about playing senior AFL footy, then watch some of the usual suspects gifted games, and play with no intent or intrest, and get flogged by 10+ goals.
For me we have seen enough from WHE, Thomas, Sier and Mayne for starters. Next week bring in Wilson, Henry or Murphy (if he is ok post concussion), Macrae and Poulter. Gradually during the season introduce McInnes, McMahon, Rantall, Bianco, Kelly and Keane.
We aren't making the 8, we will be 1-4 after the WC game, hard to come back from there, the 8 is usually set after about rounds 6 to 8, with maybe one side dropping out after those rounds.
Not sure what the plan was in continually playing out of form players, but that defiance or arrogance, has just about cost Bucks his job.
This year will obviously be a lowly finish, and l don't think a renewal of Bucks position is coming from Wrighty after this year.

Okay some interesting thought pieces for you guys
- Should we use Darcy Moore on a wing? This does leave us without one of our best defenders but I find his 1v1 work to often be poor. He is a great interceptor so he can always drop back and support ourdefence without having to play on a man. Nic Cox has also started in his role as a tall winger for Essendon in great fashion and Darcy Moore is a better version than him.
- Will Hoskin-Elliott to be used in defence? He is a great mark and a great kick but my problem with him is that he seems lost at times and can't often beat his man. If Moore moves to a wing (and even if he doesn't), Hoskin-Elliott could be able to use his marking abilities to intercept in defence and kicking to provide attacks.
- Do we need to run the three super talls combo? I honestly am not sure why we havent been already. Our forward line is abysmal, lets face it. But we beat West Coast over there with this combo. It gives Grundy a rest and stretches the opposition defence, making it easier for Mihocek and others in the forward line. It even gives us the theoretical option of using Cameron in the ruck and Grundy as a midfielder in short bursts, which I think we should try, considering we will be without Adams for a while and maybe Sier next week.
- Other lesser thoughts. We need to try Callum Brown as an inside midfielder again. It is his best position IMO as he can pressure and is a good kick. Small Forward doesn't work for him. Quaynor should be moved to a wing. I'm not a fan of his defensive work but he is a sensational ball user and could provide some strong attacks going forward.

How I personally want to line up maybe not next week but we could try this against the Dons.
B. Howe/Roughead/Hoskin-Elliott
HB. Maynard/Magden/Crisp
R. Grundy/Pendles/Sidebottom
C. Moore/C.Brown/Quaynor
HF. Mihocek/Cameron/Daicos
F. De Goey/Cox/McCreery
int. Noble/Macrae/Sier/Kelly
E. Greenwood/Mayne/Thomas/T.Brown

My only concern is that our defence is short one genuine tall. But maybe we try use Grundy like Gawn and have him sit behind the play. We also have Moore who could drop back behind as well. Not saying we do all these things, but we do need to try something different, especially the three talls which I see as a must.

3 issues with this team.....Mayne, Thomas and WHE

Or, we go the route of dropping all dead wood for youth. This makes us slightly worse IMO but helps our future. Cutting guys like Greenwood, Mayne, Thomas, WHE and to a lesser extent Magden are all 27+. At most, we should only have 2 of those 5 in our side at any given time. Macrae needs to be playing next week.
