How good is it mate that our selectors have a hard job this week?

Massive game this week.....win this and we are on our way this season IMO.

Yep total agreement, we are in fact in far better shape than we were last year - especially considering the hard start to the season we had in the draw.

Out: Goldfish, Dalmation
In: Goldsack, Daniel Wells?

Jeeze some of you have bloody short memories - this time last year we were sitting 12th and in desperate trouble.

Those of us with a sense of proportion and some modicum of patience realize this team is steadily building.

Really endearing yourself to the board.

You could give me an eternity but I meant he was a free agent in 2017 not 18.
You would be wrong. He absolutely was a free agent in 2018, until he received his 3 year extension late in the year, at which point he was clearly off the market. If hed been given an indication we were going to move him on he would have exercised his right as an unrestricted free agent and we would have received very little for him as compensation.

The strangest thing is that we are looking as good as any team. A few people seem to have read the preseason hype and decided anything less than a 10 goal win is a major underachievement.
They just read bigfooty.
It’s always anything less than a 10 goal victory with 100% efficiency is cause for great angst.

Remember that game that Daniel Wells killed us in at Docklands?

Pepperidge Farm remembers.

Maybe it's time. 😅
Don’t remind me.

(Love watching him play; an all time favourite non magpie when he was with the kangaroos; always felt guilty pleasure when he was cutting us up.)

He could be getting close to the inevitable senior call up.

Thomas received a 1 year contract in 2017. He became a free agent again in 2018, before he signed a 3 year deal with Collingwood in July 2018. Had he not been offered a deal by Collingwood, he would have been an unrestricted free agent in the trade period. Stop arguing about this ffs, you’re wrong. There was no point at which we could have entertained trading Thomas, it’s a BigFooty fantasy.

I think what you are overlooking jonbe is that......
What was I going to say?
Sorry, forget it. Forgot what my point was.
Q: What is it with you; ignorance or apathy?!

A: I don’t know and I don’t care!

He's not listed under the 2018 free agents.

Absolutely, but the best clubs make the hardest choices and small forward is one of the few areas we had covered with Billy, Stevo, De Goey, WHE.

If there was a rule book or a set formula about "what the best clubs do" regarding list management wouldn't it be easy for every other club to just follow it and get success?

There were no guarantees about Billy's return to full fitness last year and Thomas had an amazing year. It would have been very unwise to trade him out, in my opinion.

Yes, but try telling that to your supporters, or even the other players that love him as a mate.

As for the trade I would have done it in a heartbeat, but that may just be his underwhelming GF performance talking.

Out: Nobody really
In: Elliott, Aish, Wells, Sier, Daicos, Quaynor, Appleby, Goldsack, Murphy, Wills, Reid.
Same problem every week for me. 😊

I read a lot of the “Out: Greenwood” comments before watching the game for the first time on replay. I kept a lookout for the inevitable howlers and clangers ...

... but they never came.

I did notice a series of sublime passes in the backline where he kicked the ball perfectly to advantage, one very high profile crunching tackle, and another occasion where he left his man to neutralise a contest and force the ball out of bounds. I didn’t notice him do a thing wrong.

I’m certainly not claiming he was BOG ...

... but can somebody explain why they judged his game so poorly to be dropped?
Reminds me of Sinclair. Sometimes went close to 100% efficiency but some would claim he was still a clanger king
