Preview Changes/Preview, (post #449) Port Adelaide

Handy that Robbie Gray is out for Port.

For us, I reckon Jamie Elliott comes in for Cal Brown. Those missed simple shots at goal tell me that Brown hasn't yet learned to cope with the pressure of big moments in big games. By contrast Elliott revels in them.

Aish, Appleby, Reid and Wells are knocking on the door but hard to see who goes out for any of them. Greenwood, Varcoe and Thomas are probably on the thinnest ice.

Did Sier play in the VFL? One of our best in back end of 2018 seems to have fallen off the planet in 2019. Someone needs to ring the Missing Persons Unit and raise the alarm.

No Robbie Gray makes this Friday very interesting.

Such a change from last season where WE were the team with big outs and last minute outs before every game. Now it seems to be happening the other way.

Not that I'm complaining. About f**king time we got a good run at it.

Seems the only change will be Elliott in for Brown. Again, I'd go further and go Quaynor for Langdon and Appleby for Greenwood at this stage. Give our defense and real nice variety of sizes and pace.

Sier has an injured toe, he hasn't played the last two games.

I think Appleby is still a week or two away with an ankle injury. I would have loved him in on Anzac Day, and I think he was next in line over Greenwood (he was the travelling emergency to Brisbane) but then did his ankle in the first quarter of the VFL game against Coburg.

I’m struggling with the logic in bringing in two guys with sub 10 games experience into our best performing line? Our defence is top 3 in the league and has won us two matches this year. It stays as is for now with Aish the only possible change.

His name is Greenwood.

Greenwood is a punching bag currently.

Greenwood gets punched.

Alert to myself:

I did advocate Greenwood makes way in my proposed changes.
On the basis he’s just unlucky really.
Yeah he was solid, he actually played a very similar game to what Aish has been playing, but surprisingly used it better. I'm not so sure that Aish pushing him out is a fait accompli.

Ive never put anyone on ignore before, but you wanting to drop Langdon at the moment makes me consider it. WTF? The only team he's a chance of missing is the All Australian team, and even then he'd be a bit stiff.

Mate.... even the most ardent critics of Langdon (myself included) can agree that he’s having a great year so far. I’d go one further and say he’s been our best general defender this year. Wanting to have him dropped is absolute nonsense.

I'd be happy for anyone to replace goldfish and dalmation
I can’t believe we traded/drafted/acquired those guys. Delist.

Langdon out? C'mon man.

Quaynor for Greenwood I could understand but he’s probably too raw at this stage. Langdon out though? Really? I’m not his biggest fan but there is no way he comes out.

Not sure what Appleby offers over Langdon or Greenwood either.

The best clubs keep talent on their list and find a way to develop them in different positions.

De Goey and Stevo are likely to go into the midfield more, for example.

Then why does everyone want us to cut Dalmation and Goldfish? Dalmation is a real terrier and Goldfish's endurance is so elite that he keeps going without ever needing a breather.

Sorry to all of you but he's still just too dumb and slow for me. I just can't get on board with him.

That handball to Moore 30cm away from him and with 2 Bombers plays right on him was just....ugh. I can't deal with that shit. I can't.

As long as the rest of the defence can deal with it;
As long as he keeps his opponent nullified;
As long as he keeps marking better than most;
As long as he’s a rock of Gibraltar;

As long as all that happens, in the word of the great Buffy:

Deal.
