The current National Recruiting Manager for Port Adelaide is Geoff Parker. He plays a key role in scouting and drafting new players for the club.
So he gets paid to do it but doesn’t actually do anything?
When did the Port Adelaide Football Club draft Rory Atkins?

Ratkins out is absolute disgrace.

Amateur hour, gave a bloke a go, he hit it out of the park and gets dropped. Could be our best player this year yet cant even get on the fiels with these awful selections.
The club clearly not serious on developing players. This kid could go on to be a 150 game player if just given a chance.

When did the Port Adelaide Football Club draft Rory Atkins?
He wasn’t drafted he was recruited or packed up and sent to Port under a dodgey deal.
Whoever agreed for him to be part of our current list fked up.
Giving away our future first round was more than enough to get this deal done.
Poor football management.

Finlayson is nowhere near as bad as some of the ridiculous calls on here. It’s weird how opinions grow legs on here even when they are wrong.,
It is a non negiotable to chase when it is your turn to do so.

He gave up in that Collingwood game as it was all too hard for him.

Terrible body language and non competitive efforts do not belong at AFL level.

I’ve put a line through Finlayson.

I don't think we are over the line against North by any stretch.

Things start going south he's just not someone who's putting the team first with his attitude ie body language.

We've got other options.
His bad attitude, warranted from family problems or not, is not worth the effort and output he is giving.

At the start of the year, I had Finny as good backup but I feel he's possibly delist material. I guess it is a long way to go for the season.

He's always been a player who does everything soft and easy but the Collingwood showed him to be lazy, uncaring and even a bit broken. I didn't like it at all.

If he plays, I'll be watching him closely.

The ins and outs look about right.

Boak has been average at best, Atkins was lucky to get a game with a late withdrawal and the injured Cockers.

Richards and Berry to come straight back in. Good to hear Berry played well in the SANFL. Finny, I'm unsure about but he's in.

Doubt that Sinn will be sub. He's found a niche that no-one else is filling as a small stopper and there's only 6 other defenders named. Unless they want to shift Burgoyne back or god forbid DBJ.

But I think Sinn has been good anyhow, didn't expect such an accountable role for him but seems he's identified a way to lock himself into the side and committed to it.

Wait, did North drop 2 experienced key defenders and only bring one (fairly inexperienced) one back in?

Probably didn't expect us to pick a third tall forward, but any half decent coach would absolutely look to exploit that on a sunny Saturday afternoon. A shame Ken doesn't have the ability to make tactical moves, besides putting up the big B.

Perhaps they swap Corr back in as a late change.

The Power will be without Travis Boak and rookie Tom Cochrane as they host North Melbourne on Saturday evening, as the latter deals with what looks to be a stress fracture in his foot. Rory Atkins has also been surprisingly dropped after making his club debut, with Joe Berry, Jeremy Finlayson and Joe Richards all returning to the senior side.
Very surprising drop indeed.

I saw on some news article that popped up on my FB feed that big sav trained by himself with some sort of injury doubt this week. So Finlayson might be there to offer some sort of cover there as well.

Poor football management.
I agree, poor football management and whoever signed off on it, most likely Chris Davies, should be held accountable but that is not something that happens in David Koch's little battler club.

But to blame Geoff Parker and his recruiting team for the Atkins feck up is way off the mark. Atkins wasn't identified as a player we needed on our list and then pursued in a trade. He was forced on us by the Gold Coast SUNS as part of the Lukosius trade. Poor trading should not be confused with poor talent identification.
